Nice video! As an annual pass holder of Shanghai Disneyland, I've seen the light testing of Zootopia zone and it's amazing. There's a report from our local media said the Zootopia zone will open before the end of year of rabbit, so i guess that will be late 2023 or early 2024. Disney haven't decide the theme of the second park, but the third park will definitely be Animal Kingdom. Because Shendi group also owned Shanghai wild animal zoo. I heard the news said that the second park was originally a Star Wars theme, but this series of movie are not popular in China. Disneyland even closed Star Wars area in shanghai disneyland and now it's been replaced as Avatar exhibition. Now they are considering use Marvel as it's second park theme.
Thanks! I’m really excited to see how Zootopia turns out! I know that Star Wars isn’t a big franchise in China, so that’s likely out of the question. Marvel, on the other hand, is huge, just like Avatar. Would love to see a second park with marvel theme, but is that enough for a whole park? Interesting about what you said about the zoo, I didn’t know that!
@@themainstreetnews Shendi group also owned Guangming ecological park, that’s where the second park will be located. I just heard the official report from the government said the second park will open in 2035. Shanghai Disneyland is now recovered from the Covid impact, they stopped selling annual pass last month and tickets were sold out everyday. Interestingly, the most popular characters in the park are Duffy &friends. Disney found it’s too profitable to sell Duffy&friends merchandise and they probably planed to choose Duffy&friends as the coming hotel theme.
That’s very interesting! Good to see that Shanghai is once again profitable, hopefully they invest more in the resort! A new hotel would be a great start!
OrienCOT Center, a second theme park at Shanghai Disney Resort (AKA Shanghai Disneyland Resort) is based on Epcot in the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando and Westcot: the planned second park for the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim
Now all you need for your next video are the plans (and yes I know someone who works for an architect who saw it) of the rough Disney proposal for a castle park outside London several years ago..
I can't really answer that. Shanghai has taken a big hit with Covid and several other problems. I think that they'll expand the Disneyland Park for quite some more time, and with that there will be more guests. New hotels should also arrive in the coming years. It should all then depend on the guests growth in the next several years. So, to try to answer, I think we could hear about a second park, if everything goes well, in around 10 years (2030-33).
I'm sorry for saying something but R.D & E in that context means Retail, Dining, & Entertainment. Great video with lots of good information. Do you think anything you might do a video about expansions to Hong Kong too? That park is one of my favorite to visit!

I think what would be a good idea for another gate is a video game themed park called Oasis (like from Ready player one) instead of a regular Epcot because of how popular video games are in Asia..

Crazy how this has been “Under our nose” for so long and almost nobody talked about this! Maybe it will happen if the government allows, remember HKDL also had a large expansion plot but things change…
In HKDL’s case it was different. The expansion slot for the second park was reserved for Disney as long as they paid a fee to keep it like that. Some years ago they stopped paying and the land went back to the government. This is somewhat similar to DLP and Walt Disney Studios/ third gate. It could happen in Shanghai is Disney sees that the resort isn’t performing well…

All this sounds exciting but unfortunately it will all be so far in the future. If they start building the second park that would probably not start building until 2025 or 2026 at the earliest.
