A global entertainment icon and beloved Mississippian explains the meaning of life.
Kermit the Frog is an entertainment icon known worldwide for his appearances on The Muppet Show and Sesame Street, as well as a number of feature films. He attributes much of his success to his thirty-five year partnership with Mississippi native and entertainment visionary, Jim Henson. Kermit has received many honors and accolades for his work, including multiple Academy Award nominations, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and a commemorative stamp from the U.S. Postal Service.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

They were laughing, but they either weren't mic'ed or (most likely) had their audio muted during the laughter so most of the sound from them we heard was coming from Kermit's mic. It was probably different being there, but while we're sitting here watching on RU-vid the editing is made to focus on the speaker so we're not as distracted by the audience. Contrast comedy shows, where the audience is mic'ed so a home audience can get a similar experience to being there with a crowd.

This video is absolutely inspirational. Everything he is saying is 100% true. I have a strong passion to create movies, to tell stories, to create. And when you make movies, you definitely need friends, because you're working as a team with the actors, producers, and cinematographers to help you tell your creative narrative. Creativity really does let you be a kid again. When you act, you're being a fool. But you're being a fool who can make others go through any emotion you want them to go through. Without creativity, where would we be? We don't need any of this to survive as a species, but we do it because it's fun, we're passionate about it. I will always remember that sentence: "not doing it is not an option." You truly are a great speaker, Kermit. Thank you. 😊

I love this so much from little lines like” I borrowed as much of his ideas as I can without being sued for plagiarism” 4:15 to the whole concept of Kermit the frog from Jim Henson studios giving this presentation on creativity.

I've seen a lot of resources on creativity, but I have to say that this is one of the best collection of creative tips I've ever seen. Who knew that Kermit was such a good advice giver? I couldn't have gotten better advice than if it was from, say, an internationally acclaimed troupe of puppeteers.

Thank God for Jim Henson for his thinking out of the box..Kermit at TED TALK. I think that some of the people might find it silly to find disbelief in joke from a hand puppet...no I saw Kermit the frog..and laughed !!

The video title says it all. It really is amazing that we all have such the capacity to be creative that we can listen to a frog puppet and feel like he is a distinct entity. In fact, Kermit the Frog himself is a testament to that. We all know in our minds that Kermit is a character, a hand in a sock at his bare essence, but in everyone's heart he really is a real, distinct being, a person. This TED Talk feels like it was delivered by Kermit the Frog and not by someone animating Kermit reading a written script, and that's because of our innate ability to suspend our disbelief and be creative.
