I absolutely love when studios make high budget original Sci Fi films like this. And when I say "original" I just mean a film that's not an adaptation or sequel.
While watching I was under the impression this was based off a novel. But it’s actually an original film, which is a breath of fresh air in cinema. We need more movies like this.
"The Creator" is a masterpiece that showcases the impressive power and impact of technology. It presents a deep narrative that highlights the complexity of artificial intelligence and human relationships. The film succeeds in engaging the audience in thoughtful reflection while also forging an emotional connection.
Finally, something original from Hollywood. Doesn't matter if the movie turns out to be good or not, the initiative should be appreciated and supported.
Literally dozens of original movies come out every year, but they don't make money cause no one goes to see them. When was the last time you watched every movie nominated for best picture in a year?
Sadly this is the future some want. To make a creation greater then its creator. This has to happen in order for people to see them as living, even tho simulation can't be really be living, but what ever nice movie!
Even if this movie turns out to be disappointing, I would still applaud it for going big. Really tired of soulless remakes and sequels. Also very nice to see Wattanabe in another major film release.
@@createanything5189 I might go one further and claim that The Creator will end up being the greatest Sci Fi film ever made in the history of all cinema.
Of all the epic sci-fis we've been fed, this one is, by far, the most satisfying. It won't beat the OG Star Wars trilogy or the new Dune installement, but it will, for sure, beat movies like Netflix's Rebel Moon or others in the like. It's a classic father figure taking care of, and leading, a child but set in a beautiful world that, to a point, could almost be ours one day. It starts with the feeling of another Terminor story but leads into something quite different, something of its own. Liked it more than I first expected and woukd definately watch it again for sure. Don't go in with any expectations and enjoy!
I think that Gareth Edward’s VFX background also comes in handy when it comes to making good looking pictures! I’m glad they went all in with it as well.
Most big budget films have special effects whether you see it or not. Even non scifi. Think what you mean is good and meaningful special effects that's not overused or faked.
I love the good reception this trailer is receiving. We are all tired of remakes, reboots, sequels and adaptations. I really hope this film will be a success
I almost shook my head at the beginning, then the child appeared, then it looks as if He knows he has to fight for it! shame they cut the ending different in Rogue One! I did like the slo mo run Jyn Urso did at the beach from the trailer!
If you think about it, the world of cinema is so vast and has been around for about a century, it’s getting really hard to be original anymore. But you can really appreciate this one, it looks great!
wait, you think a sci fi movie where its humans vs aliens/robots, and the hero joins forces with the enemy to save the world has never been done? thats almost every scifi movie, they just change the names and plot points. same story
This has a lot of potential! It reminds me of Neil Blomkamp’s sci-fi work. Absolutely love this premise and I appreciate how visually stunning it is; the cast looks great too!
For anyone curious it’s Garett Edwards behind this who has a very similar background as Neil. He was a vfx artist turned director and can get a ton of cool work out of creativity. See Monsters for an example
It's so nice and refreshing to see an original film being made in an era where we've been getting so many sequels, reboots, adaptations, or stuff that's already part of a franchise. Having something completely new without knowing what to expect is so exciting
There is nothing original about AI taking over the world. It's been in anime and live action television and film for a very long time. The Matrix, Terminator, Transcendence, Blade Runner, I Robot, etc.
it's weird. most of the time when you see a trailer that gives so much of the story away people will complain. and then you get this trailer that gives a ton of the story away (and it's just a teaser!) and people seem to not have a problem with it.
@@jamesliggins891 The comment above is a copy of the top comment here. As for your observation, one reason for that is cos there's a lot of things unanswered in this trailer. What they've given away is the premise, not the story or whatever twist is likely coming. A lot still doesn't fit. Why did the AI nuke LA, but not the rest of the world? Why is an AI with nukes and even a space station seemingly losing the war? What was the AI actually trying to accomplish, since it's apparently not malicious? And why is the film called The Creator anyway? What's with the discussion of heaven, if this is just about a human-AI war?
That's fine and all but this movie looks so bad; it feels so generic, and boring, and the characters are dull and uninteresting. I'm not looking for originality, and usually it's very difficult to tell a jaw dropping/epic story, but if you can't give me those at least give me interesting characters, characters who are fun to watch and listen to. Also, your action must make sense and not just action for the sake of spectacle.
This dude nails the quiet action hero part every time. He's got a quiet intensity to him, with that serious expression of concern and then punctuated with thrilling action. Treat to watch.
I think Warner will start doing more movies like this since David Zaslav took over as CEO. He took over about 2 years ago and we have to remember, it takes about 2-3 years to make a big budget movie.
Been awhile since I got goose bumps from a trailer. Actually looks like something worth going to the theater for. if the movie is half as good as that rendition of Aerosmith's dream on, it's going to be truly Epic.
I’m shocked to see a major studio behind something which appears so timely, thoughtful AND features a protagonist with bona fide charisma and talent. 😮
Been a fan of Gareth Edwards since Monsters. It's been way too long since Rogue One, it's awesome to see him come back with something so huge, and original.
Glad to see he has another film coming out, and it looks amazing. My buddy was an extra in Monsters, they filmed in parts of Texas. It's amazing how Monsters was mostly just regular people being asked to be extras.
It looks marvelous. Like I wasn’t aware of this film at all until just now and yet it has become one of my most anticipated films of the year. I’m worried it will get buried by franchise movies though, so I hope they do their best to market it.
Absolutely, But they failed with Carter and Tron. So it feels they have really been trying to add an additional franchise for a long time, Carter failure was a big reason for their purpose of Star Wars. If they could own the ground of Sci-Fi Epics they are gonna try. But I mean, There is also a chance this is a one off movie, Though I hope not.
So good to see Gareth back and with such original content. VFX look really good, glad to see he's gotten another stab with a high budget, it was worth waiting for. At least now Gareth gets a chance to prove his chops once again away from meddling hands. 👏🏻
@@SuperMIKevin His Star Wars movie, Rogue One, was modified pretty significantly by other people. Studio interference, as people like to call it. Can't really say whether that's good or bad, since we don't know what his original version would have been. Maybe worse, maybe better. I do think it's nice to see him doing something that's not part of a big franchise again.
Good to see Gareth 🙄 He's not some old mate you ran into doing the shopping ffs... He's a movie director who's done a couple of crappy Star Wars films and a Godzilla film a decade ago... Movies no one actually cares about
@@SuperMIKevin Rogue One was reshot with direction under Ron Howard. Gareth wanted to make a war movie, but Disney thought it wasn`t kid friendly.. So Rogue One wasn`t really Gareths film..
Considering how phenomenal the cinematography for Rogue One was, I am extremely pleased with the vision and landscape for the film and can't wait to watch it.
Feel like this trailer bodes badly for the amount of concept scenes / shots which are 1:1 replicas of Rogue One sequences, just shot in a non-star wars universe. I would probably suggest not rewatching Rogue One before watching this one
He's such a visual director who has a great eye for shots. But of course it's not only him. His cinematographer, Greg Fraser, is slowly becoming one of my favorites. He shot this, Rogue One, The Mandalorien both Dune movies and The Batman.
The aesthetics alone in the first 10 seconds have captured me. I need more beautifully cinematic sci fi movies with the budget to pull off that appeal throughout the whole film!!
Original? I was 100% sure it was a star wars film, then i thought it was Avatar, possibly A.I, maybe blade runner 3. It looked like it was a bit of everything but original
A new, original sci-fi film? Not a remake or a reboot? One that doesn't wreck an existing franchise and beloved characters? One that looks incredible? I'm in! Can't wait!
"SHAME ON YOU" for using the Beirut footage for your stupid trailer, 218 deaths and 7000 injuries and you use the footage for your stupid movie. I hope more people are aware of this atrocity and boycott your Asses. See 0:34
@@socbok2616 I know right. I, for one, am excited to see how they used the Beirut explosion, where real people died, in a movie. Watching that tragedy on youtube I thought "man, that should be on the big screen, that would be exciting!" I had the same thought with the 9/11 plane into building, when is that gonna be in a movie. If they can change the way sonic looks based on the reaction of people, for the entire movie, why can't they change a simple scene in a movie. Sonic's eyes are more important than the Beirut Explosion.
I like that the AI isn't just a generic evil thing to destroy. Also, having seen TENET, I'm really excited for John David Washington to play another action role. Not only that, the action scene snippets look exceptional. It's probably a popcorn flick, but I am pretty excited.
Gareth Edwards started his career working in the vfx department. He understands how things should look in scale, lighting and texture. In addition to that - trigger warning - He’s responsible for the look and feel of the newly revamped Godzilla movies and his work on Rogue One, in my humble opinion - forever changed the fabric of Star Wars films and tv. Obi-Wan, The Mandalorian, Andor etc. all have a look and texture that’s grounded in ‘reality’. I’m excited for this and John David Washington and Ken Watanabe are the icing on the cake.
this is the type of movie tom cruise would normally star in. nothing against him but happy to see someone else take the lead. It also has that "The Golden Child" feel to it in an updated version
What do you mean you never hear about it? You literally just watched the trailer, along with 5 million other people, which is #7 trending. How many people have to see it before you think "anyone has heard about it"?
@@EngineeredTheMind that's just how the movie industry works. We don't find out 3 years in advance, we find out when they announce the release with a trailer. Films don't always make it out of early production.
Gareth Edward’s has one of the greatest minds for visuals and cinematography. It’s unbelievable how beautiful he makes films look and the grand scale he can project
This will be a HIT. The production quality, environment, actors, plot. It has it all. Im sure the SFX and music will be amazing too. Really have high hopes for this.
I couldn't tell you the number of box office disappointments that had good production quality, environment, actors, plot, SFX, and music. Hoping it doesn't turn out like that, but if I was a betting man, I'd put money on this not making it's money back
You better cause the last few minutes this kid made have tanked including tenet which was granted due to the pandemic, he needs a hit. Can't be living in Dad's shadow all the time
The most important part is that it looks like proper scifi by someone who loves and understands the genre. Disney totally lost the track with Star Wars and this trailer shows that Gareth understands it.
The cast looks outstanding. John David Washington is looking like one of our finest (fairly) new talents - subtlety, range, charisma. And Ken Watanabe is pure classic! An original premise, on timely subject matter is the holy grail of storytelling. Looks very promising...
Yup, another nepo baby takes their parent's legacy, ofc. I'm so hyped to see another great actor fail in casting simply because their father's name is not Denzel Washington.

John Washington in my opinion has the best diversity in acting from this new generation; he performs amazing in action, sci-fi, drama, comedy, and more. On a personal level, it's heartwarming to know his parents are alive and well to see him pave his way into Hollywood. I imagine Denzel is proud to see his son take stride to his same passion and career. The Washingtons are a special acting force among the Hollywood legacy families and an all-around amazing family.
@@bedlam6700 Well, not necessary. If the characters insist on the color of the skin, oppression and blablabla, then it's woke. I see nothing here about these elements. Of course, a short trailer doesn't show too much, but generally, woke trailer are way more obvious about their wokeness.
Fun fact: The shot at 0:34 features archive footage from the 2020 Beirut explosion. It's been significantly altered in the foreground with new VFX structures but other layers such as the building in the top right corner feature the original explosion and its shockwave.
I heard about this after it was shown at Cinemacon a month or so ago, but man this looks so refreshing. It's also kind of a coincidence how it's dropping right around the time that AI is a huge topic as well. Super hyped for this
its certainly a timely film, likely the writer/director had an feeling that things were starting to ramp up a couple years back and set the wheels in motion , I've also a feeling this is going to be one of those.."the real monsters were the humans all along" type deals rather than it being solely the machinations of some out of control A.I.
@johntowers1213 I really hope it's not that trope in this situation since it's been done time and time again, but at the same time it would definitely fit the narrative for this film no doubt
it's weird. most of the time when you see a trailer that gives so much of the story away people will complain. and then you get this trailer that gives a ton of the story away (and it's just a teaser!) and people seem to not have a problem with it.

Bring family, friends, spouses, etc. Let's make sure that this really does well. Let's send a real message to the studios, that non-IP films are wanted and can be profitable.
My God, apparently Gareth Edwards can do gritty sci-fi with the likes of Ridley Scott, James Cameron, and Denis Villeneuve. I’m glad to see him continuing with this genre.
Rouge One is one of the best Star Wars film I have ever seen from it’s practical effects and scale. Hats off to Gareth Edwards. This is the filming style I want to see and not lazy cgi crap that Disney is doing.
There is a ton of CGI in Rogue One and this film, but it is imaginative and well done. The VFX look great in Gareth Edwards’ movies because he has a background in visual effects - that is what he was doing before becoming a director.
Gareth spending ten years perfecting his craft in the CGI space before he even attempted his first movie (Monsters… a masterpiece imo) is what puts him in the same category as the Nolans, Garlands, and Cosmatos’ of the sci fi world, imho. Just behind the allfather Ridley
You do realize that Rogue One (which you spelled wrong, by the way) is ALSO full of CGI and ALSO made by Disney, right? This is not the serve you think it is.
@@jeffmarlatt6538 No, not even Dune got me as excited as this trailer. I enjoyed Dune, it was really well made, the trailer wasn't as exciting as The Creator though.
If a film has Denzel or or his son cast in it, I’m going to want to see it. I’ve never not felt something from their roles. There’s no bad Denzel movie and a big reason why is because of his performance, and John David Washington is cut from the same cloth.
Finally. A major studio actually makes something fresh, thoughtful and interesting that is worth watching instead of another remake or addition to an already drawn out sequel.
I just wish it wasn’t a story that’s so far out of reality that I can’t take it seriously lmao AI wouldn’t fight like this in any universe but this looks so good
We don't know if the film itself is fresh, thoughtful, interesting & worth watching yet. The trailer is intriguing, but trailers ARE SUPPOSED to intrigue audiences, in order to lure them into watching the films. But we don't know if the film will end up being brilliant or awful.
JDW has truly hit the ground running with is acting career. You would never know the first thing he ever did acting-wise was that Dwayne Johnson series Ballers. And then to be hand-picked for a Christopher Nolan film...this guy is going places!

@@AndrewOxenburgh Well, the director is the same that directed Rogue One. I see a similarity at the beach fighting scene at the start. But I get a a stronger sense of AI, Avatar, District 9, etc... which to be fair is scene dependent. I'll need to see the whole film and see what I feel afterwards.
this film looks amazing. original high budget scifi stories that aren’t attached to an existing franchise are hard to come by. plus this trailer is really really good all on its own
actually kinda low budget. they utilized guerrilla filmmaking. Director has vfx background $80million before incentives. To put in perspective 1/5 endgame budget.
This appears to be an original concept sci-fi film stuffed with ambitious world-building, all while revolving around a prescient interpretation on the topical dangers of AI.
