I'm a former law enforcement investigator and military veteran. After 20 years, I'm trying to move into a new career in cyber security. I'm really interested in the defensive security and SOC management processes portions of this training. With my investigative and analytical background, and familiarity w/software development, cyber security is a way I can continue to help protect people from bad actors. This would be a real dream certification for me! I've been a Kali Linux(formerly "backtrack") user on and off for a decade, and Kali was created and maintained by OffSec. For that reason, I have great respect for OffSec's certifications.

This seems like a really well fleshed out entry level course. Like you said, that fact that you get hands on experience with so many practical exercises and with exposure to multiple different facets of cybersecurity; it will really help newbies (like me) figure out which area of cybersecurity they should pursue after this cert. This is pretty baller. I previously did Network+ and the biggest drawback I saw was the fact that you end up with all this theoretical knowledge and no hands on experience. I really find that doing practical exercises in conjunction with theory really helps cement things.

Hi Sandra, congrats on getting over 100k subs. The way I see it, the most unique and exciting module of the OSCC would be ICS/OT. Infrastructure and ICS needs more visibility in public perception and as an option for those wanting to become security professionals. Crowdstrike's dereference fault was bad enough, but highly visible, and so far the OSCC is the only introductory cert I know of that does more than merely define ICS. Gen 3+ and on SMRs for portability, scalability, and as decentralized points of failure are the most reasonable path forward for energy security. We're going to need specialists to ensure they're not susceptible to the next Stuxnet, for sustainable and dependable energy surplus for hydroponics, water filtration, and carbon-capture tech.

I think this is the best beginner cybersecurity certification one can get from the one and only Offensive Security. I'm transitioning into cybersecurity. I've built a home lab and I've been following along in books. Most of what I know is self-taught, and I was looking for a video that would suggest a certification that focused on the hands-on and not just theory and multiple choice questions. I wanted something that teaches an actual skillset. Red teaming is where my current interests lie, but that may change as I learn more about other aspects of cybersecurity. Thank you for your content. I was impressed by how in-depth this certification is.

Hello everyone! The OSCC course looks great and I really like that it covers hands-on skills that serve as a solid foundation for multiple domains within cybersecurity. What excites me most about OSCC is that it approaches entry-level cybersecurity from all sides, and I think this is what makes it unique. I am intrigued by the full course but what interests me most would be scripting, cryptography, and malware analysis, but this really hits everything, and given the ubiquitous and interconnected nature of the current technological landscape, it seems essential to have an understanding of all these concepts. I am currently trying to land my first professional role in the field as a SOC Analyst, and understanding security beyond just Defensive has really helped me develop a solid foundation, but having comprehensive hands-on experience with all domains would definitely provide an edge! Thanks for sharing this. I've been looking to make a pivot towards cybersecurity for some time. Studying from 9pm-2am PST (as I write this at 1am taking a brief break hah) almost every day. My daughter recently turned 4, and the growing trend of technologies making it easier for threats to access information and take over identities has me wanting to do something that can help protect her and others of the next gen's future. I've been trying to soak up what I can since end of last year when I decided to be proactive myself and acquire some certs and get any practical knowledge I can with my own setup and environment. Rant over, just feeling impassioned by this video and the info it offers. That said, proactive defense peaks my interest. As the saying goes, "the best defense is a good offense". The fact that it is so all encompassing and by the organization it's by is ultimately the biggest win but I feel like proactive defense very well sums up how I view the program. Thanks again, the program seems amazing, especially after going to the site to take a deeper look.

Great timing!! Was let go in a different field and have been shifting into Cyber trying to absorb as much as I can. I’m most excited to learn Defense Evasion in the Offensive Security section of this course, though it seems like a perfect introduction all around !

Hey! Thank you! Do you think it’d be worth taking after doing the google cybersec cert? I am currently working on this but am considering many pathways which include other hands on courses.

Great vid! I have just started my cybersecurity learning journey and I believe this course might be the one that helps me to decide which branch of cybersecurity I will pursue later on. There are so many pathways that sometimes it's a little bit confusing, so having a course where you can have a feel for every role would be very beneficial to new learners like me.

I didn't even know about this certification so your video was a very good find for me. I have been trying to determine a pathway into Cyber Security that made sense and always thought that OffSec priced their exams way over what the content was offering. I think this is a great value, thanks for the video. I would be interested to learning about the Defensive side of things in this course.

As someone who is trying to break into the Cybersecurity job market having a strong technical foundation is pivotal. Although other vendors like CompTIA and EC-Council provide the theoretical aspect of Cybersecurity, they do not delve deep into the core hands-on skills that are needed in the job market today. OffSec's OSCC would be a game-changer for me because I can use the theoretical knowledge and actually conduct the attacks, defend against them and also learn how to perform basic auditing for Governance & Compliance. This is what is all provided in the course and because it is very practical I can add those skills to my resume to get that entry-level SOC Analyst/ Jr Penetration Tester role.

Great video as always, Sandra! I recently got an offer to work as a junior SOC Analyst, and I just want to say your videos really helped me get familiar with these cybersecurity platforms and utilize them to further my education . Before that, I was really confused because there's so much information out there, and it's easy to get off track if you're not careful. As for the OSCC, I'm really interested in the Malware Analysis module.

The GRC you mentioned, is that comperable to unixguy's GRC course you went through in your previous video? I would be most interested in learning how GRC influnces the technical aspects of cybersecurity, both in specific geographical areas and for multi national companies as where I am situated there is not much in the sense of SOC based opertunities.

Stumbled upon your videos trying to learn more about careers for blue v red team. Haven't kept up to date with recent uploads because not in job phase yet. Been focused on getting CompTia Trifecta so a lot of Messer, Dion, and DFIR. Topics that excite me are cloud fundamentals and social engineering could be interesting as well. I think this comprehensive course/cert would bolster my resume and potentially lead to a career down the line!!! Thank you and Offsec for offering this opportunity.
