Honorable Mentions: •Hong Kong 97 - The 'Game Over' Corpse: It was discovered by Goose Boose, the dead body originated from the Japanese shockumentary Death File: Yellow of a Bosnian Civil War victim. She even interviewed the game's creator who intentionally made Hong Kong 97 as a joke to mock Nintendo's censorship on the SNES during the 90s. •Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain - P.T. Audio: On the radio, you hear a crime report about the murder of a pregnant woman named Lisa; she was months before giving birth, and got brutally killed by her husband, who was struggling mentally and resorted to alcoholism. The same audio appears in P.T., except with the sounds of Lisa's murder included after realizing you've been terrorized by her ghost, and the fetus in the sink was her unborn baby. Tragically, Silent Hills was canceled by Konami, they fired Kojima after MGSV released, and so on. You get the story of this key moment that caused Konami's fall from grace(and it hit them hard aside from their employees' horrific treatment). •Devil May Cry 3 Dante's Awakening - Mission Start Theme Reversed: The track playing before you start a level starting with Mission 1 is creepy enough with the soft, unintelligible whispers, let alone the music(composed by Tetsuya Shibata), but if you reverse the audio present, they are just the lyrics to both Divine Hate, the second battle theme, and Devils Never Cry, DMC3's ending song. Reversed "whispering": Life of vengeance, a passive test Until the grave, I will rest Engage the pressure until it crumbles The existence of lifeless black souls Onward to the sacred battlefield Where justification and limits are revealed Hail to a father divine To the son, the light will shine From the angst of lost memories A just revenge to cure misery •Final Fantasy VII - This is Hades: A hidden room you might stumble into after accessing the game's debug menu, containing clones of Aerith(and her mother Ifilana) within a void of nothingness. Her only dialogue includes text reading "This- is HADES." •PS1 Fearful Harmony: The error can only be accessed by corrupting the console's BIOS through some hefty tech-work, but it's very rare to trigger unless you've got a screwdriver and want to mess with the plates within the PS1's outer shell. The startup plays as usual, until Sony's logo is in disarray, with an electronic shriek in the background, before you hear what appears to be distorted glass chimes, lasting minutes. Time passes and they get louder and louder with the combined sounds looped, then- complete silence.
I had the Detroit become human game corruption joke come right after I had quit a level after textures disappeared and I fell through the map. It was the best possible timing.
I had it right after my PS4 abruptly shut off. Typically, I'm immune to the "your save file is gone" prank, but the one time a game could have gotten me with it, the game did.
The laughing statue Easter Egg in Splatoon 1 only happens on the Splatfest variant of Museum d'Alfonsino, which is why it's so hard to hear. Let alone encounter.
@@VixdadKeyhartnobody really knows as of right now, it’ll probably always be a mystery. I’ve been into the game since the first one and I can say it was never disclosed unfortunately :(
Funfact: The sounds that play on the original Xbox’s dashboard at 13:00 are actually public domain NASA transmissions. Microsoft used these sounds to make the Xbox seem more futuristic.
For the sonic CD one, I think it’s a mixture of poor choices when being localized Besides what you already mention, another thing of note is that the OST was completely change for the west The original soundtrack was more upbeat but was changed in the west as they thought the Japan soundtrack wouldn’t “attract customers”. This would change the boss music from a funky upbeat to a creepy song Assuming that the text is still in Japanese, they never fixed the Easter egg screen to have a less creepy music This unintentionally caused the Easter egg screen to change from funky music to horror in the west (Ps - listen to the Japan version of the boss music it’s so good)
I will never forget the first time as a kid when I did the sonic cd sound test one. I saw people online talk about it and I thought it was fake but I did it anyway and I was honestly shocked and definitely spooked when it actually happened. Honestly it’s still a little spooky to see it but genuinely it’s so funny that they even put it in the game in the first place
about the omori one, iirc its actually a 1/20 chance every time you interact with a mirror after you defeat humphrey the whale. i learned this the hard way (the first mirror i saw after the fight)
So two things. The RE7 Mia ghost was actually removed and she had a TON of appearances in the demo in bits exclusive to it that just added to the overall creepiness like the mannequins going all weeping Angel on you. The second one is a little weird but we don’t actually know if the Ruth 911 call is real purely because it’s so old, there’s stories of it just being a really well acted example for dispatchers to learn to get the location of callers as quick as possible to stories of it being an actual call with no real resolution that’s used as a sorta aptitude test for dispatchers as well as the same lesson above. It’s a weird piece of internet history that no one can agree on and potentially one of the more messed up cases of lost media
It's real but she was just being dramatic. The operators knew her as a frequent flier of police calls and this was before 911 iirc. She drops the phone to hit some young thug with it after he breaks in according to a police report from the following morning. He ran away and she had a busted door or window. It's from 1978 or something, and Ruth died of natural causes in the 90s, and this call had been used in emergency training for some years.
More information has been revealed about the "Ruth 911 call." As like you mentioned, it's been online for many years now, and there was nearly no other info except the call itself. I suggest watching Rob Gavagans video on creepy 911 calls as he goes into more detail about the information most people don't know about the "Ruth 911 call" to the point where most of the comments are thanking him for the information since so few of us have the full story as it just got buried in the Internet.
A bit underwhelming and very likely not canon, but an explanation for the ghost girl in XY is that she’s just trying to creep out the player lol. A hex maniac named Helena was added to Pokemon Masters EX and in a tweet from their official account they refer to that exact ghost girl as Helena just playing a prank.
About the Ruth 911 call, it’s actually widely debated if Ruth is even real. Nobody has been able to discover the origins of the call, or even identified any record of Ruth. Many people online have found someone who matched descriptions, but nothing has ever been confirmed. It’s a bit of an unknown. Many 911 dispatchers will have lessons taught to them during training, and Ruth’s call is one of the examples they use on getting the address as soon as someone calls in. Again, we have absolutely no idea if that call is real or not.
@@Tomakins I’d hope so. The search for Ruth’s call has been ongoing for a long time, and I doubt we’ll get much of a confirmation. The use of it for training I feel is a good lesson for 911 dispatchers to always get addresses after picking up, regardless of if it’s real or not.
Apparently the call has been confirmed to be real, but it has a happy ending, she actually fought off her attacker and lived for another 14 years afterwards
Just a quick correction about FACE. In Yume Nikki the main character (Madotsuki) is a Hikikomori (basically meaning she has a fear of leaving the house) and she spends all her time sleeping. When FACE is triggered, she will wake up due to it being a nightmare. Uboa is similar as you have to either use the Eye Palm effect to teleport back to the Nexis (Door room) or you have to pinch your cheek to wake up from the dream.
Amusingly the John Romero 'easter egg' is technically the final boss. If you reverse the audio on the stage you can hear his own voice slowed down and saying 'To beat the game you must kill ME John Romero!'
Tip for the future: if youre going to do a content warning i would be absolutely up front about the content ahead rather than saying "not so nice things", it makes it a lot more helpful
Yes! So sorry about that (and sorry for the late reply!) I'm still kind of new to this type of video style so I didn't know how to really do it? But for sure in the future if there needs to be a content warning I'll make it more specific
@@Tomakins glad you're willing to learn! Luckily stuff like that doesn't affect me particularly bad, but i think making sure people know whats up is extremely important :3 it was a very good video regardless for what its worth!
Surprised to see Stardew so far down! I guess it is relatively "unknown" to non-players and even some players, but I've seen it happen once and have heard so much about it I don't think of it as super creepy anymore IMO! Nonetheless, great video! Loved it!
The best thing about these lower-follower channels is that the videos are always really quality and interesting - rather than disingenuous, rushed and obnoxious. Love your work 😌
Don’t think you understand Easter eggs and iceberg…Easter eggs are not just game secrets and iceberg is ment to get worse and you just showing secrets and not explaining the iceberg to it
The RE7 ghost thing wasn't actually in the main game. Or at least, it must've been taken out early after the game released, because I've played that part of the game, actively looked for the ghost, and she has never appeared to me
If you think that's the weirdest 90s doom clones can get, there's a weird old open-world doom clone called saints of virtue. most of the "levels" are themed to different sins like greed and pride, with a whole hollywood themed area for pride, and I shit you not there's a whole room full of liquified celebrity faces like oprah for one, with monkey noises playing.
Man as soon as you said gta v I thought it was going to be one of the generic ones like the ghost on the mountain. I was pleasantly shocked to hear one I've never heard before! Edit: It popped up later lol but regardless that mine one was something I have never heard of
Really great job! I love stuff this like this especially when it’s long form so I can listen/watch while I do things around the house. Thanks for all your hard work and hope you get lots more subs! I did!
Fun fact the song in the sonic cd soundtest easter egg is the US boss song so if you change or get the JP game or soundtrack it’ll be the JP boss fight
the pokemon ghost girl's model is just a bog-standard hex maniac, so I'm not sure it really means anything all that deep... Also, the cancelled game wasn't called PT... PT literally just means "Playable Teaser". It may as well have just been called "Nameless Demo". The canceled game title is "Silent Hills", to my knowledge.
Cookie run also has a couple creepier Easter eggs, for some reason. Three characters in the games (White Ghost, Candy Diver, and Onion) are implied to be dead. In Onion cookies introduction animation for ovenbreak, a chandelier-like shape can be seen falling on her. Her skill also causes chandeliers to fall, and in kingdom there's a decoration of a broken chandelier implied to have relevance to her, all implying she was crushed by a chandelier. In certain story sections, it's also shown that Candy Diver doesn't have a body anymore, instead possessing the diving suit they drowned in. This is shown by all their "dialogue" being diving suit noises, and a part where another character tells them to take the suit off. Upon taking the helmet off, a thunk is heard, implied to be Candy Divers head/skull. As of now there's nothing to hint at how White Ghost died. She's also the one who's most clearly a ghost (it's in her name) Not too creepy but still weird considering how young cookie runs target audience is.
The phone call from the Nun Massacare entry is also in Rec Room and can be heard in full in one of the custom maps The 8th Floor. Hearing that in VR was one of the most chilling experiences I've ever had.
Has anyone ever gotten the weird glitch in undertale ps4 where when u hit the home button the whole ps4 is all glitched out and has undertale text buvbles and pixles ans te inly way to stop it was to unplug the ps4?
@@Tomakins i've tried the splinter cell crossover, so difficult, but so great, haven't seen the predator mission though - still one of ubisofts best games
what's with the red dead redemption footage playing for 90% of the video runtime? even when you are talking about a different game, as you talk and explain the easter egg, instead of showing clips from the game you are talking about, you continue to show rdr1 gameplay. It's kinda annoying.
Fun fact about the Sonic CD easter egg is that it uses a different track in the Japanese/EU version of the game, making it go from an unsettling screen to a weird but upbeat one.
35:27 Man, I already loved 2016's Cyberdemon theme wayy prior to this, but suddenly learning this fact _years_ after I first played the game just spikes it up even more!
For the man-bat one in arkham knight, the iceberg is referring to the fact that if you set your system's date to October 31st 2015, you'll get a second random man-bat jumpscare. If you then go back to the gcpd and check in on the container manbat was being held in, you'll find that the glass has been shattered, and man-bat is gone. The guards will even have some unique dialogue
I am so happy people make videos like these straight to the point, most channels would make a 30 minute video from like 10 of these easter eggs, enjoyed it all the way through!
i just wanna mention that i think the ruth 911 phone call was actually confirmed that it wasn’t real! don’t quote me on that though, i just remember watching a video on it a while ago
I saw another comment about this! They also weren't completely sure if it was real or fake but it's apparently used as training for people on the phone and gosh either way that call is so creepy
No problem at all! It's a Yume Nikki song extended called "Snow World" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4lyI7O7kLP0.htmlsi=EYJAh-rMwOZTLaO9
You forgot to mention in the hitman 2 miami mannequin one, once the mannequin animation is done and it points, if you turn around, to where it’s pointing, there’ll be another mannequin standing right behind you, also the text says “exorcism”
Some additional information on the Payday 2 witch Easter egg. The entire operation is a reference to L4d. It takes place in mercy hospital a location in l4d and features Bill from the game in an elevator on his way to a doctor. It’s a non cannon theory that the payday crew stole some dna of patient zero of the green flu the thing that started the l4d apocalypse and released it accidentally.
This isn't an iceberg video, this is just a list. An iceberg has entries sorted in categories from "most commonly known" to "least commonly known" (from the tip of the iceberg to further down below the water). But even though this is just a list, it's a damn good one!
