I have actually tried to build submarines in Gmod. It's not much of a submarine though, they aren't supposed to be full of water.

Its kinda funny, how the horror of the dark room was "ruined" for me as a kid because when I got to gmod i had less internet access than now and i played the map with Dev commentaries, that just straight up told "yep, this room is to test light sources."

I loved how cooperative the creator of the map was. I asked them how they had rooms appear and disappear, and they gave me the whole source code to their own modified version of seamless portals. I didn't figure it out because i am dumb, but it just shows that the creator is a nice guy

I explored this map with my friend, it was extremely fun but even after we uninstalled it the Gordon statue thing and mingebags kept showing up so we were literally unable to play GMod normally for like a week

I also want to mention that it's super nice of the creator to upload an alternate "v2" of the map without the spooks so one can appreciate the little changes on their own and in my case, even use it over the vanilla Construct.

the fact that the mingebags are actual human players on the map, playing at the same time as you is really cool and unexpected

Honestly, the Mingebags is a really clever way to reimplement a "beta feature" when you think about it. They're recreating the beta experience of having randos come in and wreak havok on your server.

I can't get over the unimaginable cleverness that just oozes out of this map. Dude made his own multiplayer client for the sole purpose of catching people off guard with a minge jumpscare. I love it..

This map honestly just feels like a love letter to Gmod ARG enthusiasts. It has some of the most common tropes seen in Gmod ARG's and they use them all very well in my opinion. Imputing commands, dark shadowy people, mysterious entities, radios, teleporting, all of it. The amount of work and loopholes and work-arounds the team behind this would have had to do within the Source Engine really impresses me and I am very intrigued to see how far it'll go...

Imagine a gmod arg like gunslingerpro but the player realizes they're alive and starts making houses and stuff for them

Holy crap. I thought I dreamed up all those details about Construct, especially the tunnels at 7:10 . I remember playing the beta and I (as well as *alot* of other people) really hated the new UI. Silly in hindsight but we were so used to gmod 12. I never realised that gm_construct got updated when Gmod 13 got its full release and for years I've thought that I was going insane, remembering a bunch of very specific details about construct that could no longer be found. I can finally rest easy knowing that I was in fact, not a complete lunatic.

This map feels like a loveletter to GMod horror as a whole

Fun fact, the snowmen from the map will actually follow you to other maps as well, or maybe vacant industry is also part of this whole ARG

People look at GM_Construct and never think about the fact that it looks like it was designed for combat. Embrasures on the walls - chokepoints, the mirror room can even be defined as a bunker.

there’s actually a really useful mod for this map. It’s called Tactical RP (a gun one) and you can install flashlights on your gun that don’t go out when your normal one does, and a *Radar*, that literally shows you where entities are, INCLUDING the all dark guy

I remember playing on hl2 lost coast map and having fun with paint gun from portal 2. When I was shooting I accidentally shot at the moutain and literally I uncovered invisible semper with blue paint. It was the scariest shit Ive ever saw in gmod..

Never thought I’d see My House in GMod but here I am

Even though I went in blind, an addon I had caused LUA errors that spoiled me on how the tunnels work: certain sections have portals that teleport you to other parts of the tunnel system, and they're not always active. The same error also tipped me on the whole mirror portal, too. Though I don't think I would have thought about entering the mirror at all, so I guess I have this error to thank for helping me out lol

I vividly remember when GMod creepypastas started taking off so I'd be paranoid about every single mod I downloaded containing random jumpscares to the point of just outright quitting GMod because I was starting to find vanilla gm_construct creepy.

Interesting thing about the whole "Semper following you to other maps" thing is that I'm pretty sure it also applies to some of the other entities, like info_player_start and the weird snowman thing I should know because after I downloaded the map, they started appearing in other maps too (Semper included)

Knew I recognised that voice cameo from somewhere, love the librarian and the narrations he makes whilst playing games, it's really calming and great to see him here :DD

13:30 the sound is just being used to convey the radio making a weird interference noise when the operator drops it. the guy up there is the one on the loudspeakers indicating the arrival of the gunships. the sound can actually be triggered multiple times if you bring the prop back up

Somehow this whole thing reminds me a lot of CoD Zombies easter eggs, but from the times they were just introduced. It really felt like a solving of a greater puzzle, like there's something more than just silly side mode

very well done! it's cool to see all the changes and updates to the map after i (and the other small handful of early pioneers of the map's discoveries on the third to last dev exploration notes post) covered it for a time, especially in the hints department - it was really hard finding certain puzzles blind ~2 years ago for anyone curious this video did miss a few spooks so i'd say it's certainly worth it poking around for yourself to see what you may stumble upon!

The storytelling of the map's creator and the amount of thought & creativity is ungodly. I haven't seen many things quite like this since I started playing in 2009. I'd downloaded this map and played on it a couple dozen times without really 'exploring'. Wild to think that this map from a game I stopped playing years ago had so much more to it. I never would've found out if not for the video.

*I saw some mudcrabs by the water recently; I stay clear of them. Nasty creatures, but I hear their meat is rather tasty.*

This reminds me of a time where like everyone in my tf2 sever just left and i was alone, it creeped me out so bad. Just wandering around a space just previously filled with goofy shinanigans that was now dead silent is unnerving.

I’ve never really taken in the atmosphere of construct as I am usually on another map or placing rebels and combine around construct to distract me. Really good video!

I used 13.beta SO MUCH and I knew absolutely none of this. It was always just a bigger Construct. Though that feeling of disorientation in the tunnels is real. I guess I just never noticed walls were appearing. I stayed away from the darkroom anyway. Though certain things in the video did bring about some sort of Deja Vu. I vaguely remember crawling through some vents though

I still remember when I begged my dad to buy me Gmod, I downloaded some mods including Gm_bigcity, I played a bit without actually listening to the background noises. Then.. I paused, I didn't do anything, I listened... Shit kinda scared me I left the game and haven't played until one of my friends got it. That was pretty scary to me, Gm_Construct, atleast for me, has not been scary, what scared me was the big maps with no population. (I cant believe I wrote this whole paragraph just to explain something that is only personal lol)

Considering all the references and easter eggs to all sort of GMod horror maps and videos this map seems like a celebration of GMod horror as a whole, showing off what makes it so interesting and fun in one large experience!

I think that that fear of normally crowded areas being silent and empty is why the original FNaF 1 atmosphere is so creepy.

As a Brit & someone who only started playing Gmod in the steam era of the game, the use of 'Mingebag' not only as a general derogatory term for shitty players, but _ALSO_ the default player name in old versions of the game is gold and has infact made me choke on my spit in laughter.

This was the most insane route of secrets i ever seen in a video game almost beating Cod zombies

When I played on this with my boyfriend, we were just fucking around and exploring. I found the "Oracle" and it had the tip to put the doll on the chair. When I went to do it, my bf just thought it was gonna be some silly easter egg. I then proceeded to scream so loudly my bf actually thought I got attacked irl when the chair started, well, doing its thing and I got stuck in the dark room. I play horror maps, bad and good ones, as a hobby in Gmod and that? Yeah that was genuinely one of the most terrifying things I've experienced in this silly game about ragdolls humping (Among other less important things, obviously)
