The winter of 2014/15 saw Scotland battered by 113mph storm winds while the north of England faced freak snow drifts. Some of Britain's biggest winter storms, however, were in the North Sea. For a 12-man crew of one emergency response and rescue ship, hurricane force winds make for uneasy conditions as they encounter waves as high as 20 meters. And for the rescue teams called out to reach those at risk in the mountains and on the roads, every second counts.
