The CRF450R Supermoto needs help... 

Honda motors are amazingly tough, I've owned 2 Honda dirt bikes 04 CRF230F and a 09 CRF450X, I bought the 450 used and mainly used it for riding back and forth to work (in dirt trim), put 120 kms on it a week . Also road around the farm and ripped with buddies on weekends, buddy of mine had a 07 CRF450X and we used to drag race all the time, for hours on end, running every gear to rev limiter, clutch-less shifting. My bike was a monster, never raced another 450 that could beat it, switched riders same result, even raced some R's and just walked away from them and my bike was stock gearing. I had rode the bike for 2 1/2 years all year around , +40 or -40 didn't matter if it would start I would ride. Changed the oil regularly about every 1,600 kms with full synthetic oil until one oil change I dropped the oil and was full of brass filings, so i put fresh oil in it, took it for a ride and drained oil again. Still right full of filings, so i road it for another week and changed oil again , and still right full of filings. So i decided it didn't owe me anything I was gonna ride it till it popped, and I got another week out of it before it started rattling and really sounding bad so i parked it. I figure I have got well over 200 hours on that bike since I've owned it , and the only thing I have done to that bike is change the oil , never checked the valves, none of that strict maintenance schedule. I haven't got time to tear the motor apart to find out what went wrong, i'm assuming it's the rod bearings but wont know till i tear it down. Oh and the 230... Its been to hell and back and still runs like a top. Honda makes the best quality motors in my opinion, simply bullet proof.

All you need to check valve clearance is a set of feeler gauges, to set the lash you need the shim kit. The CRF valve issues we're from the titanium valves causing recessuion of the valve seats. Most bikes by now are all swapped to SS. I'm at 150 hours on my CRFX and no valve movement yet. You are good for a while.

You'll know if you need a valve adjustment cuz you wont be able to start your bike very well or at all. From my experience with my crf, the valves can go from in spec to tight from one ride to the next so if your valves are in spec now, they may not be 2 hours (riding hours) from now. Just need feeler gauges and shims to adjust. Also keep your valve adjustments documented because if the same valve goes tight, it's probably time for the valve to be replaced or it will drop and destroy your motor.

You should switch your titanium intake valves out to a stainless steel set up. That’ll keep your valve check intervals down

Yeps valves are a must on hondas well any 4 stroke dirtbike but hondas for sure because of the way the valves seat in the head ...

Imo if you're doing this style authentic supermoto where it's ultra high maintenance and made specifically for street riding, I'd honestly go with the ducati hypermoto. At the same time, i love bikes like this so I'll never try to steer people away from bringing them to the street.
