The Critical Question - David Platt

I’m convicted and humbled. God forgive me for caring more about comfort than the cross. You’ve saved me for your kingdom, not for my advancement. Use me Father I pray, send me to the places YOU need me to be. Let nothing be as precious as your will, and your Gospel.

You just want to take a picture everywhere you turn. The beauty, the glory of God in creation. And yet, at that moment it hits you, that in the last 2,000 years, these mountains have been shouting the glory of God. Declaring His greatness and His grandeur... but not for one second have these mountains said anything about what Jesus did on the cross. Mountains are silent about that because that is a privilege reserved for you and me."

This is the kind of preaching we need a lot more of in this world!

He doesn't yell and shout but man does he make the point.

The church around the world must listen this. We need a revival.

How many other pastors do we hear give sermons bring up verses/passages like this? Praise God for David Platt and his boldness to share the truth from Jesus to a western christianity that definitely does prioritize comfort in their faith.

As an MK I was deeply moved and begged my parents to move to Nepal. Now fast forward 5 years and I'm newly married to an awesome Christian Nepali man and living in Kathmandu. God used David Platt to tech me about Nepal......

I'm sitting in Indonesia right now , if God has called you to go count the coast prepare and go ,follow His path for you. I prayed that God would send out thousand in to the mission field. This life i life is not my own I'm saved by grace for him alone. If jesus suffered so should I , i follow Jesus i want to be like Him what about in his suffering? What about being like him in he's death. , Jesus left his home. And he calls us to follow him and leave our home two. If bot living for Jesus then we are not really alive

Wow!

One of the most powerful sermons I’ve ever heard. This hits deep in the heart . Jesus is the Answer and He will give us strength. Everyone including unbelievers believe that life begins outside of your comfort zone. It’s where we show our true colors when it’s a decision to act or to sit back; whether we have true faith or enjoy thinking about the interesting concept and story of Jesus. How many times I have felt as David said when he turned and walked away from that little girl who needed food. Both physically without helping someone get food or spiritually without giving them the Bread of Life. That feeling of “I should have shared Jesus with them” just looms in your mind and eats away your soul. We have the answer in Christ but we must be confident in Him to share this truth with full strength. Without that confidence we will lose our saltiness and are of no use to God’s Kingdom. And I don’t know about you but davids plea makes me feel sick to my stomach thinking about coming to my deathbed regretting how I spent my time being comfortable and never truly living for Jesus. Dear Lord please come into our hearts to move us to love, without allowing ourselves and others getting in the way. Allow us to receive You and the Holy Spirit with open arms and to help us understand what you did on the cross so that we are in awe of you and your love for us. Thank you God!

Luke 14:26 says, "If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters-yes, even their own life-such a person cannot be my disciple." What is that about? Hate your family? How about the other pages in the Scriptures where we are called to love our spouse, our parents, our children? The point here (Jesus is making it very clear though) is when you follow Jesus, your love for Him makes your closest relationships in this world look like hate in comparison.

The real critical question is: "How long will God endure these irresponsible shepherds within the institutional church Mystery Babylon, who, like the shepherds of Israel, only strive to feed themselves?" Peace be with you brother, We should obey EVERY word that proceeds out of the mouth of God, and ACCEPT nothing else. How do you know if it is of God? By believing those who were (chosen / ordained) to put God's word to paper ( the Prophets, and Apostles) If you read your bible and believe ALL of them; Then you do well, but it goes further than that. When you obey God is when you will find God. There is only one way to interpret scripture, (spoiler alert for those reading this). We can't. Jesus said no one can come to the truth/Father except through Him/Jesus is the only way to the Father. God does not give the Holy Spirit to those who do not seek, and obey Him. It really is just that simple. The "church" removed books from the "canon" Just in the k.j.v. 1611 alone shows 15 books that were removed. Why? because Jesus said they would be a as well as others, [before you doubt Jesus ] Please check it out first. God is not with the churches. God is with the ONE who truly seeks HIM through Jesus Himself. Not mans ideas of how you get to God. Jude 14&15, Enoch 1:9 If Jude quotes him and lays down authenticity for him. David is a woke pastor. No respect for him. And every word sounds like he’s crying.

The reason Mother Teresa is known all over the world is she gave what she had. The reason this pastor is forgotten already is he takes an exotic “pilgrimage” and witnessed extreme poverty but jerks his hand away and takes the helicopter back home. Home to his nice cars nice home and nice bank account. But he self loathing attempts to motivate others to do what he himself would not. Is there any other takeaway??
