The reality is that we are in the dark age (probably worse than that) of mental health. On one side we have the biochemical model, on the other one those psycho-social models which are absolutely ineffective and are more political than anything else. The truth is that our industrialized societies are incompatible with mass mental wellbeing, there is hope for the single individual but most people are not capable/willing to put up against the entire civilization. It may sounds like some Übermensch rant, but even rants are true somethimes.
"It is the consequence of a complex mixture of social, emotional and relationship difficulties..." What a convenient thing to say when you can't or won't define something. Psychiatrists make it "complicated." At root is human conflict.
Thanks so much for your inspiring talk. It is so liberating to find human suffering being correctly acknowledged as a product of life’s experience as opposed to so some fuzzy, ill defined “symptom “. Thanks for the work you do which is so vitally important . 🌱
