The Cromford And High Peak Railway: A Spectacular Feat Of Engineering A collection of some of the drone footage from the High Peak trail between Harboro Rocks and Minninglow in Derbyshire.
Thanks very much Carol 👍🙂. It is indeed a spectacular part of the country. You know, if one of these scenes featured in a Harry Potter film or another famous film, it would be crawling with tourists.
@@WobblyRunner yes it would, glad its left more or less unspoilt though. Can you imagine Paul hundreds of tourists crawling & climbing all over the limestone walls😱🥰❤
Fantastic footage aerial views give it a totally different perspective and shows the nature of the landscape they had to deal with when building the line. You have to hand it to our ancestors, they didn't let anything put them off! Looking forward to your next video, thank you guys.
Brilliant coverage - I've cycled along the High Peak Trail - as it's now called, many times. At least 3 places to hire bikes on the High Peak and Tissington Trail that joins with. Go off piste to Ye Olde Gate at Brassington - by gum, it were gradely
I reckon it's to do with the slope of land, side to side. The side with banked stonework is higher top to bottom compared to the other side. It would need to be stronger as there might be tendency to "lean". Perhaps also the embankment has the potential to behave as a dam at times of heavy rain that might overwhelm the drainage tunnels that pass through. Whatever the reason, it is spectacular when you're on it
