I think part 2 is WAY more emotional. I recently rewatched it and admit I was too harsh on it as a teen. Now, as a father, part 2 means much more to me as a father. Anyone can think "I love my girlfriend", but only a father knows the love a parent has for their child. Years ago, when we were struggling financially, I didn't eat for 3 days so my son could eat. When he buried his son, I just kinda thought it was being dramatic when I was a teen. Now, as a father, I had to pause that scene because I started crying

I like the story of this compared to the first one it makes more sense to me. "A father Avenging his Son" instead of those corny lovestory bullshit a guy avenging his girlfriend etc.

I've been thinking for a long while now about the original film, and how it's pretty much perfect except for one major flaw: it created a massive plot hole for James O'Barr's otherwise flawless comic. In the comic, it makes perfect sense that Eric Draven was the one the crow brought back, since he was the one who suffered more. But, in the 1994 screenplay rewrite, it would make more sense for Shelley Webster to have the role of undead avenger. SHE was the true protagonist, if you think about it. She was the one who was opposing Top Dollar's eviction scheme from the start. She was the one who was raped and cut by Top Dollar's gang for a fairly extended period of time. Eric simply got shot and fell out a window, and as far as the gang was concerned he was collateral damage. Most importantly, in the film version it is Shelley, not Eric, who lingers on the operating table for an entire night before dying. Shelley was the one who was wronged. Shelley would be the one too traumatized to move on to the afterlife. Given the "Goth"/fetishistic appearance they tend to have, Crows can easily be female. So why not give the antihero role to Shelley? Of course, I'm aware that very few people have ever heard of Sofia Shinas. And the typical Gothic tale is about a man avenging a woman, not the other way around. But, with the right casting choice, it could have worked. Now I hear there's going to be a remake, and Bill Skarsgard will be Eric this time. I'm sure he'll do a fine job, but I can't help thinking this is another missed opportunity.

And that was sort of the thing with the original book series. After the first Crow completed his revenge, he went back to the grave, but it wasn't like he was the only one who wronged in life. So, the sequels often explored other poor souls who were wronged in life. And it's nice to see how Sarah went on.

yes because in the 9os the directors original cut was shown on paper view for a limited time but all the torrents of it are dead an nobody has a copy .

It was well shot and creative, but if it felt like shit it was because of the edits. I was meant to be more somber but the trailer is selling it like an action movie. The Crow is not Demolition Man
