Could anyone tell me what happened to the lineage of Dilophosaurus after the Cretaceous started? Like are we sure that Coelurosaurs are not descended from some Dilophosaurid?
So thats a great question. Dilophosaurus, currently, is considered part of the Neotheropoda. Neotheropods are early animals, with very few surviving into the Jurassic. This would place Dilophosaurus outside of both Coelurosauria and Carnosauria. We are still uncertain of their placement, but it seems they may have evolved into the ceratosaurids.
He's probably my favorite small Tyrannosaur. I remember when they announced the species and was so shocked. I can't wait to have it as a figure when my Beasts of the Mesozoic stuff comes.
Dinofax: these guys actually weren't that big Me: ah ok so what is is like 4 or 6 feet? Dinofax: it was actually around 12 to 14 feet Me: *F●CKING WHAT?!*
If I'm not wrong these guys aren't actually Tyrannosaurids, but are the much more distantly related tyranosaurines like yutyrannus. They're related sure, but they are suuuuuper distant and very far removed.
Basically the biological version of using that random piece of scrap that you refused to throw away to make a sturdier hinge for your garbage can. (The crest being modified into a nasal bone to reinforce the skull)
Asia gets all the weird Tyrannosaurs, compared to Americas "Hey Bro can I Copy your homework ? Sre but change it so it is'nt obvious." and the result is Tarbosaurus S, M, X, XL and Cold. Like what in the Tully Monster is going on with Quianzhaosaurus ? Spinosaurid with an identity crisis lookin ass.
Did you know that’s actually not a dinosaur? It’s just a young teenage T-Rex. Even the scientists from the show say it’s unlikely to be a unique species but the writers ignored them because the title of “The Natural Predator of T-Rex” was too enticing to pass up
Do you know any more information about the large theropod in South Africa... i know they last found its footprints but i was wondering if there where any more info out there
