he didn't grow up privileged. He had a worse upbringing than most, yet overcame it on his own and became a war hero and one of the youngest lieutenants in naval history. He didn't enter the royal family for privilege, he was genuinely in love.

@@lavaboy1565 yes, he had a turbulent childhood. But considering that his dad is the cousin of king george v, the tsar and the king of denmark, and his mom is decended from queen victoria, he definitely has a priviledged life compared to others. The reason I admire him as a man is despite of all the tragedy he's been through, he never make that excuse to be narcistic and manipulative like the new royal that we knew just because "she" married one, prince Philip is humble, respect his wife and his new country, love and respect the UK people even his a German, he never play a racist card and for that the world love him, people respect him not just because his a prince but he earn that from people around him and around the world through all the years of being humble and hardwork despite his wife is the Queen

One cute story from an author named Paul Brandus who got it from the book "The Death of a President." In November 1963, just days after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the Duke flew to Washington to participate in the funeral. On Sunday, November 24, First Lady Jackie Kennedy was at the White House looking for her youngest son JFK Jr. When she opened the door to his playroom, she saw the Duke of Edinburgh sitting on the floor playing and laughing with the boy. JFK Jr. earlier said that "he didn't have nobody to play with" while also asking the Duke "where's Daddy?" The Duke then told the staff that he would entertain the boy and keep him company. Two years later in Runnymede when a memorial was dedicated to JFK, a photo shows the young JFK Jr. holding hands with the Duke and his mother alongside his older sister Caroline and the Queen. A humbling notion towards the Duke. Truly he was the Queen's strength and stay.

My prayers and condolences to the Queen; from what I've researched, Prince Philip was the last living person in her life who was an adult during seasons 1 and 2, and now that he's gone, she's all alone. That has to be really hard and I have a feeling that she doesn't have much longer left. I pray that I'm wrong and that she and her family get a lot of comfort.

Should have included a scene with his mother. The final scene closing that door I think is the room she died in. His father abandoned his mother and him. His mother survived a mental asylum only to end up in WW2 Greece feeding the starving children of Athens and hiding Jews from Nazi. His eulogy to her can be found on RU-vid and it is quite moving.

I feel for The Queen. She was married to Prince Philip for about as long as my parents have been alive. And to have known him at such a young age. It must be very hard. Both sets of my grandparents had long marriages like that. It is something to admire, sticking with another through so many things that they become your other half. One of my grandpa's described it as the world losing all meaning when my grandma died. It just didn't feel the same to him anymore without her. He died a few months later. Nice video. I loved season 1/2 actors for Elizabeth and Philip the most.

The casting of Olivier Coleman as our beautiful Queen Elizabeth II will always irk me. Claire Foy was radiant, blue eyed, regal (yet warm), stern and just sublime as the Monarch. Coleman was a brown eyed stern, cold, toothy, goofy and an unlikeable headmistress and nothing like the majestic figure of style and stature the Queen should be. I hope Imelda Staunton is better. @chessu
@chessu 3 года назад
I think it's quite a polarising opinion. I also hated him (the portrayal and the actor, not Philip himself) with passion. Dull is a great word. I very much enjoyed Matt Smith on the other hand (not a Doctor Who fan). My mum who I watched it with could not stand Matt (even went as far as saying he was the ugliest man she has ever seen), but absolutely loved the older actor.
@sabesque6461
@sabesque6461 3 года назад
@@chessu I'm not a fan of matt smith's looks but the blond hair did give him a lift, besides that he's a brilliant actor who played a convincing Philip. I actually didn't like most of season 3&4 cast except Emma corrin as Diana and Josh O'Connor as Charles. Never got the hype around Gillian Anderson as Thatcher, Olivia Coleman as the queen nor helena bonham carter as Margaret. Just a season of overrated actors with no chemistry between them. 😴
@chessu
@chessu 3 года назад
@@sabesque6461 Yeah, sadly I have to agree. I'm not a huge fan of Claire Foy, but thought she was *excellent* as the queen. Vanessa Kirby was wondeful as well, Matt I thought was okay. S3/4, I agree that almost no one had any on-screen chemistry. Emma and Josh were pretty well cast (first I'd heard of them) as well as the woman playing Camilla. Gillian Anderson I didn't mind either. I am young enough to never have seen Thatcher alive, though, so maybe that's why. I love HBC and Olivia, but they were horribly miscast, particularly with Olivia, I couldn't see any Queen, just her. And I don't understand why they had decided against lenses. I'm more hopeful for the third cast and it'll be interesting to see if such poor match in S3/4 was intentional because the people are still alive, or whether it was just simply miscast.
@sabesque6461
@sabesque6461 3 года назад
@@chessu s1&2 were successful so I guess they thought bringing in well known actors was a necessity. The thing I didn't appreciate with the Margaret Thatcher character was it was borderline caricature. I may be unable to see why people liked the actress because I keep comparing her to Meryl Streep's performance in The Iron Lady which I think was superb and mare akin to the real person.

@@yerushalayim5241 - Having read the official inquiry [and there were three independent inquiries], it's clear that it was an accident. The person who started all the wild conspiracy theories off, was Mohamed Al Fayed. You should read his statements. The man continually lied, and changed his stories, because he could not accept his son died in an accident. The supposed pregnancy, and engagement were lies which he alone put about to make his stories more 'credible'. He called Prince Philip a Nazi, and a racist who would never accept a Muslim stepfather for the future King of England. All bull. Diana had just finished a relationship of two years with Hasnat Khan [A Muslim], who did not want to marry her because of the media spotlight. Diana tried to make him jealous with Dodi, and tipped the paparazzi off herself. She, and Mohammed Al Fayed caused the media frenzy in Paris for their own reasons. His own guilt in his son's death, caused him to spread wild conspiracy theories to absolve himself of any blame. Read the inquiries before you call people blind, and stupid, instead of just watching fantastical RU-vid videos.
