"Long before Olivia Colman and Helena Bonham Carter were cast as Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret in “The Crown,” they each had the once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet the members of the royal family that they would one day portray.
Though the interactions were short, their impressions impacted how Colman and Carter would represent the family on the Emmy-nominated show, which wrapped its third season in November 2019 and has already been renewed by Netflix for three more.
Colman and Carter, along with showrunner and writer Peter Morgan and director Jessica Hobbs, joined Variety‘s Jenelle Riley in the Variety Streaming Room after a screening of the season 3 finale to discuss playing the royals, the bonds they have created through the show and what makes it such a hit in the U.S."

HBC has the best laugh ever! Also, you can tell she's a very private person, so it's heartwarming to hear her call Collie her sister

Jillian Anderson is SO good as Margaret Thatcher, I could not figure out who the actress was, behind the part. I literally had to stop Netflix from "serving" the next episode, and sit there and watch the credits roll. "Jillian Anderson?? THAT is Jillian Anderson?!? No way!" She simply disappeared into that characterization.

Well . . . I think she meant in terms of character arc. Bellatrix LeStrange has NO character arc -- she's as evil at the end of the multiple movies as she was when we first met her. No redemption asked for, or possible. Whereas Margaret changes significantly, and went through a lot during those two decades of Seasons 3 and 4. Also, Margaret is a mainstay of The Crown, whereas Bellatrix had only a few disjointed scenes in HP.

It's going to be interesting when there is another monarch. QEII is the last one to be 'home-schooled' , to not have grown up with other children her age, that were not necessarily royal or aristocrats, and were children from the real world. She didnt have experiences like her children, who were with others outside of the royal family.

If any film, TV show or play has a good company leader it makes the quality so much better. (Also if they happen to be brilliant and humble actresses as Colman is or actors as Rylance is, it does help)
