A king who wishes to be feared is an unworthy king. A king who wishes to be loved and in turn loves his children is a worthy king. But fear and love are not the same and one cannot be feared and loved by the same person or people. Your "god" is unworthy.
The statement of " being self centred " has always tested me, in a negative way. I am now changing this to, "be kind enough look inside" . It's not selfish to think of one's self centred ness it's actually growing. So changing the statement which works better instead of taking it personally or negatively towards myself.
