Osteoporosis is an increasingly common condition with the ageing population. Post-menopausal women are particularly vulnerable to osteoporosis.
In this video I talk about the 7 factors involved in bone health and the role of the microbiome. A healthy microbiome can support bone health but an unhealthy one can aggravate osteoporosis.
I discuss the interplay of specialised Bone-building cells and Bone-removing cells and how the microbiome depending on its health can trigger Bone-building cells or Bone-removing cells.
I also discuss why blood calcium does not tell us anything about osteoporosis.
There is also discussion about the benefit of plant oestrogens on osteoporosis if there is a healthy microbiome.
