Love is by far the Cult's best album. It was the peak of their cool postpunk sound. Standout tracks are Revolution, Hollow Man, Little Face, Love and the Phoenix. (She Sells is no doubt a great song but it has been flogged to death.). I wish they would have kept this sound instead of trying to be ACDC/Zeppelin knockoffs. There are subtle hints at hard rock on Love with songs like the Phoenix and the title track. And there are some good songs on Electric and Sonic Temple but their conversion from postpunk to pseudo heavy metal was too corny for me and I was done with the Cult.
Pretty much agreed. I tend to like underdogs tracks on most albums. As I go through albums and try to rate them. Many of them ones I have known for 30-40 years, some are hard to rate. I am about to review Sisters of Mercy Floodland. Hard not to give This Corrosion a 5/5 as its an all time classic. But if I never heard it again, I wouldn't really care. There are some tracks and albums like that, that are bookmarks for the genre. She Sells Sanctuary, Rain, Fire Woman and Love Removal Machine are those type tracks. But I'm a bigger fan of Wild Flower, New York City, Brother Wolf, Lil Devil and those type more. Thanks for your comment!
@@ElectricCafe-45 Yeah it sucks that overplaying a cool song basically kills it for most discerning listeners. There are a lot of good tunes I never need to hear again. You Shook Me All Night Long is such a song. As good as Hungry Like the Wolf is, I can't be bothered to listen to it anymore. This might be a cool show topic. If you want a guest co-host, I am down.
Agree with you. I think thats why I feel like I need to give some of those classic some extra love on scoring them. Like West End Girls or Blue Monday. Classics that I dont care to hear often. But they are what they are. Nearly perfect tracks. Thank you for offering on the co-host. There will be some time next year that I do more videos where its a discussion, rant etc. Also I will have some interviews and other things I would like to do. I will keep you in mind. The idea of doing these videos now is for a few reasons. So I get better at presenting. I have always been kind of quiet - always listening to music versus talking about it. Also, to set a foundation of my music taste with these videos. And also a personal reason of rating them for myself. I do like to critique things and eventually compare them like I did when I was a kid. I once made a top 1,000 songs when I was 14 and did a top 10,000 songs 15 years ago (but didn't finish). I really havent told anyone who might care that I know, I'm doing this channel. Maybe a couple. I kind of just want to get all these album reviews out then go on to the next thing for the channel.

Have you heard (or do you have) China Crisis Working with Fire and Steel??? Incredible album IMO. Also, I still really like hearing West End Girls....
Yes! I know China Crisis very , very well. Love most of their 1981-87 work. A lot of really good b-sides as well. I reviewed Flaunt the Perfection a few weeks ago on my channel. Working With Fire And Steel will be the next China Crisis album then since you brought it up. great idea. So many good tracks on there! Nice one
