The church hooks people by using techniques that produce out-of-body experiences. Out of body experiences are real, and the church uses "games" (riddles) that when solved produce out of body experiences. In Scientology, they call it *going external.* An out of body experience is addicting, exciting, and can be produced by learning to see reality from a different perspective.

Anyone willing to control other people in the name of religion, government/nationalism, or even 'the science' etc is more likely to have their 'human' principles fold when under pressure. And when peer pressure kicks in, many others with weak belief systems will fold, leaving the few rational minded that are left to deal with the fallout of the rest of society going crazy.. @@NOISEEROOM The difference between a religion and a cult is the fact that cults make their followers cut ties with the outside world, including their family and be obedient in everything to their human leaders. Christianity is a mix of faith and moral code, which laid foundation to western civilization. There are some christian zealots but there are also atheist zealots who mock other people's faith and claim to have all the answers and behave like their beliefs come from reason when they have 0 evidence to say that there is no creator. The only "reasonable" approach is to say that you have no answers but that comes with a price. There are of course many respectfull atheists, I'm not trying to antagonise all of them. I think they're in the wrong but I guess we'll see about that. Or not, as they BELIEVE in darkness and the state of non-existance after death.

A few years ago, my girlfriend and I were at Clearwater Beach, not far from the Scientology headquarters. This kid came up to us and handed us a pamphlet. It had no mention of Scientology. In fact, even though we were by the building, I thought he might’ve been a Jehovah’s Witness. I turned to the back cover, and it said “Based on the Teaching’s of L. Ron Hubbard”. I immediately felt horrible for the kid, and then realized we were probably being watched. Very creepy stuff

You WERE being watched - and recorded with state-of-the-art gear. scientology gets away with that sort of creepy, illegal stuff by claiming to be a "religion". IMO, their definition of "church" would necessarily include the mafia and other criminal organizations as being churches. Rather than charity, they require stiff payments up front, no refunds, ever. NOTHING in scientology is free, other than the hassles and put-downs you get if you don't completely agree with the shit they're telling you. They are the least tolerant people you'll find if you scratch a bit below the surface. Stay away from them as they're well-experienced in destroying their "enemies" completely, even if it takes creating a false story or framing them for a felony the scientologists committed -- or staged.

I had a friend many years ago that was constantly "searching" for something, anything. It was a noble aspect of his character, but he did not know what he was looking for. He tried many different things like, get rich quick schemes, physical fitness trends and also religion. He always gravitated towards the "extreme" examples of these interests. He got into real estate, and MLM's and he was even attending meetings of Jehovah Witnesses. When he got involved with Scientology, I got very concerned because he would go into all of this Scientology psycho-babble. He would claim that it was so intelligent and abstract that he had to use a dictionary to get through most of it. He brought over some of the literature (which was very expensive) and I read through it. It is without question the most nonsensical bullshit I have ever read! There was really no point in talking to him about it because he would tire of whatever he was into rather quickly, this was no exception. After enough time had passed, I asked him why he stopped pursuing Scientology. He told me that he just could not understand it, and when he would try to have some of the other Scientologists explain it to him, they made it even worse. You can't unscramble an egg. I'm glad he got out of it, his parents had actually called me and asked me to keep an eye on him because he was getting really weird. The internet has destroyed all this crap, just by making the nonsense available for everyone to see. It's a very creepy example of underhanded manipulation to deceive! One crucial thing that a large percentage of these documentaries appear to leave out is the unconscionable treatment of the Church's own members, specifically in the Sea Org. The celebrities and community leaders who are merely "members of the Church" have it fairly easy, and if they're already millionaires, it's no dent in their bank account to climb up the bridge. My ex girlfriend - and she's an ex because some of the condition she was put through in the Sea Org made her a very poor communicator and difficult person to engage with in reasonable conversation - was raised by Scientologists, but her family didn't force it upon her. After what she recounts as an abusive home life, she left home in her teens and became an alcoholic. After several hospital visits for alcohol poisoning, her older brother paid to put her in "rehab". Much later, I would find out what she meant was the NarcAnon Purification Program, whose solitary principle is that drugs and alcohol stays in your body's fat cells indefinitely, and can only be washed out by using extreme doses of vitamins on a daily basis. Her experience with the program was so profoundly positive, that she was convinced that her family's religion may have had some credence to it, and not to mention, despite her brother's claims of "paying" for her "treatment", she now owed the Church thousands of pounds, and had to work it off. She signed the billion year contract and joined the Org. While her recollections tend to be largely positive, one story sticks out with me vividly. She was caught smoking a cigarette by a CCTV camera at the Saint Hill facility, where she worked 15 hours days, 6 days a week, for significantly less than minimum wage. A week went by and she went unpunished, which put her on edge, as this was not what would usually happen. Her 19th birthday, or thereabouts, happened to roll around, and during morning assembly, she was brought onto the stage by an officer, and congratulated for another year of pursuing the total freedom of "going clear." She was presented with a comically sized birthday card, at which she cried and was grateful, moved by the sentiment that it'd been signed by everyone at Saint Hill. Naturally, this was a ruse. She was told to stand on the stage and read every single written message, aloud. This took over 90 minutes. Rather than birthday messages, the card had been filled with insults, criticisms, judgements, suspicion, accusations and so on. She looked into the crowd to see her "best friends", blankly staring at her, while she sobbed uncontrollably and shook with anger. When she was done, the crowd applauded. She shortly left the Sea Org after that, by working off the rest of her debt, and going through an excruciating process called "rooting out." To this day, she mostly has positive things to say about the Church, and believes that L. Ron Hubbard was indeed a visionary, and that his dogma was rooted in practical and profound ideology, and she applies much of it to her life today, sadly, with little to no effect. She has relapsed as an alcoholic and drug user countless times, and has been an addict as long as I've known her. I am not judging, as I am a recovered junkie myself, but she stands as testament that this poisonous prison of belief does not help, but only hinders. When you are told every day that you are in fact Godlike, and you have powers beyond your comprehension, you can become very clouded. My ex sincerely believes that she has almost psychic levels of intuition, which unfortunately, manifested largely as paranoia and suspicion. I am guilty of the same, but I know that I am mentally ill. Such an idea cannot be conceded by a scientologist, past or present. She is outspoken against all psychiatry, and has blanketly refused to ever seek any treatment for her mental health problems or substance misuses. I wholeheartedly and unreservedly blame the Church for the downfall of this person's life, and our relationship. Underneath their brainwashing, she is a pure and good person, trapped. TL;DR Scientology is absolute cancer.

She asked us both to come to the "Celebrity Centre" in Hollywood to see her acting classes. Next thing I know we had a group of geeks asking us talk to them for a bit. I live in Sydney, Australia. One day, I was walking from one end of the city to a main park where I was trying to catch the bus back home. It's rush hour time and everyone just wants to go home. It was a Friday afternoon, after all. These 2 smiling women were handing out flyers for a personality test. I was in a rush and they blocked my way. I just took the sheet and ran towards my bus stop. This woman, who was half my size, dragged my arm and tried to pull me aside to finish the test. I let go and started running. When I got on the bus and flipped the page over, I could see a faint watermark of the Church of Scientology. Turns out, I was only a few feet away from their Australian HQ in Sydney. I dodged a big bullet that day, lol.

My dad was a contractor for various telephone companies and worked in California after an Earthquake in the 80’s. Apparently Scientology was around then. My dad was working up on a telephone pole outside their building. Keep in mind he’s way off the ground, and these bozos try to shake him off. They threw things up at him to try and make him lose his balance. So, to get them to stop, he drops one of his tools down by them, nearly brains a guy. They call the cops, saying he was spying on them, had attacked them, the business. My dad just showed him his work documents, and the cop told them to leave him to his work. The week my dad was there, he made sure to give them an equal measure of the hell they insisted on putting him through. You don’t really get to fuck with my dad without finding out real quick. I grew up in Clearwater at a Scientology school since I was 11... and I was someone who was never a Scientologist and never gonna be one. And they told me it wasn't a religious school and that it was okay for me. I went there for 4-5 years.. just to be kicked out when I was 15 years old for almost nothing. When I was only 14-15 I met some "fake friends" who got me out of the school and out of everyone's life. Most of my friends were taken to the ethics office about me. So I was completely isolated from everyone and I had to learn the adults I grew up with didn't have my best interest in mind.. and the kids I grew up with were never my friends. I was emotionally abused by a couple of these "bad Scientology kids" and I was eventually convicted of a crime I didn't commit.. with an exaggerated police report about me. I'm truly worried I might have been abused by the church just for not being a Scientologist. I was abused and emotionally wrecked very fast.. an I became very docile from depression. I feel like I never made any bad decisions or anything. I know they took my friends away and labeled me an SP when I was literally 14. I just want to know if they really messed with my life in any other way or tried to destroy me. If I were to learn that I'd start my own website lol. It's not a good childhood... I always longed to be normal, dating a normal girl. Appreciating good, normal people. Also they tell you it's a group of 40,000,000.. when it's really a group of 40,000 worldwide.

Offered me a free stress test and that it wouldn’t take long. I didn’t have the time but said I’d walk and talk. By the time we got in front two additional people came out and I felt this pressure that I could only describe as desperation and force but not clearly either. Again I didn’t have time and offered them my info to be able to get in touch just to get out of the situation (thankfully I didn’t end up giving them it). They also built big high rise apartments that sit eerily empty, with the majority of the apartments remaining uninhabited for almost a decade. Growing up we called the suited Scientologists who walked the streets “ants” as they’d move quickly along designated paths and disappear & reappear randomly in and out of buildings with blacked out or covered windows. They have random compounds throughout downtown that are guarded 24/7 and have recently started to put up these “FLAG” warehouses in and around pinellas county (the county where Clearwater is located & the most populous county by size in the state). There are also 2 big Scientology schools that they all attend. Weirdly, they’re all super nice people but everyone who isn’t insanely wealthy seems to be some sort of servant. To get the best of what LRH had to offer, read the Handbook of Scientology. That won't cost you very much $ at all. His way of breaking down the challenges and experiences we encounter during a lifetime into patterns and basic principles is unmatched in any religion that I have studied in my adult life. Peace of mind is achieved through understanding, not faith. Read it before you judge.

I recently found Philion's channel, and I gotta say, what a breath of fresh air. A normal, well adjusted guy, just calling out all the BS on this platform. While I am probably twice his age, I find his thoughts and understanding of the world far above his time here on Earth. I assign these "skills" and "wisdom" due to his upbringing by his parents and grandparents. Being able to just talk into the camera and being personable as well as funny is a gift for sure, but it's his "every man" common sense that rounds out his skills as a communicator. This is a rarity here on RU-vid...I just wanted to say thanks and I have gained back a bit of the Humanity I thought I had lost.

Being the polar opposite of yourself, likely twice as young (teen-adult), I find it very refreshing as well. Gotta prepare myself to be able to be strong and informed in this world when it’s time for me to be a man.

There are quite a few on this platform. I've found several. Leonlush, penguinzo, I can't think of the names of others but there are actually an abundance. You just have to stumble upon them somehow.

I've always loved the "beyond scientific comprehension" statement. One of the best ways to hide the fact that you are making something up on the spot. For something to exist in this universe, it has to be observable and it has to abide by the laws of this universe. Without these laws, existence wouldn't be a thing in the first place. If something cannot ever be observed or measured in any capacity, then it is impossible for it to have an impact or influence on this universe and may as well not exist. If it does have an impact, then there must be a way to observe or measure it.

This is just the surface my childhood friends dad got into scientology deep and a few years ago he got sick they talked him into giving the church power of attorney and when he got sick they didnt opt for surgery that would have prolonged his life they stuck him in a very bad hospice let him die and sold off his house and all of his assets my friend needed money just to give him a funeral and this man was a very succesful into his retirement this is what they do its how they keep money and power as soon as you join they own you and all of your valuable assets and they want you to bring more people in to do the same

Tom Cruise needs to be made answer to things like this. Every interview this guy does every journalist should be asking him about a horrific Scientology story and how we can do it until he never shows his face in public again or quits.

I used to go hear a really good Celtic group called Golden Bough for years. Then I happened to glace on the back of one of their albums and it said "thanks to L. Ron Hubbard". I was really surprised, as they never mentioned Scientology at any of their concerts or tried to convert people. They were incredibly talented, I was just surprised.

CORRECTION: Hubbard's father did not enlist in the Navy. He was a Naval Officer. He was commissioned. Big difference. In WW1 and prior, Officers were in fact from royal lineage or notable families most of the time. His family more than likely did have a royal heritage. His Officer father likely taught him basic leadership skills, such as motivating groups of people, which eventually twisted into his own intent. The Naval Academy Hubbard was about to enter was additionally to turn him into an Officer, showing that his dad was an Officer. This is a very big correction and notable detail. It adds a lot of context. He basically spent his entire childhood and adulthood learning Officer leadership without learning to use it for good or using it for moral use.

I read Dianetics back in the early 90s, having no idea what I was reading was the basis of this cult "religion." I have to admit, the book intrigued me because it was said to be "science" and offered an explanation for the emotional turmoil of my youth, my questioning of Christianity as well as my myriad of health problems. Thank God I didn't get sucked in from there, but it could have happened if I'd encountered that first interview session they do. I have a lot of compassion for people that got ensnared in this! Hopefully more and more will come across the truth online as they listen to former scientologists about what's really going on. Leah Remini is an amazing woman who has devoted her life to speaking truth!
