The Changing Rooms episode I remember from the 90s was where Laurence decorated a bedroom in a deep red. The owners went nuts and the man described it as a "whore's boudoir," the last shot was of them frantically painting over everything. I'd love a reaction to this.

Gray is in percentages because it's based on how much Black pigment...so like a 10% gray would be 10% black pigment to 90% white... And a warm or cool gray could be anything along the percentage scale, but then with a tint to it, a warm gray would have a more yellow, orange or red tint, and a cool gray would be more blue, green or purple tint.

Thank you for putting what I was thinking into actual coherent words! I think it maybe depends on your individual perception/associations, but I don’t see grey as a non-colour at all. There are so many different kinds of grey (insert 50 shades joke here) and I find most of them very restful to look at, whereas a lot of more overt colours I find a bit ‘much’.

You need to look up any episode of Trading Spaces with Hildi Santo-Thomas as a designer. She’s all I remember from that show. She painted pop art mosaic of herself on a clients wall. She brought a truck load of sand to make a beach living room. She glued hay onto the walls and ceiling. It’s seriously wild!

All colors have warmer and cooler shades and tones. Tossing a bunch of paint swatches down and asking students to arrange them from warmest to coolest across each color is a classic beginning painting class assignment.

Grey walls were in vouge in new homes in my area in the 2010s. Not so much now, but my house has grey walls. Some walls are accented with a darker grey and others are a very light grey that are almost white, but up against the white trim, you can tell they are not white. I actually really like them for the most part because they make things seem cooler. I live in Las Vegas so having the interior seem cool in the summer is a must.

Lol… most of my house is that shade of Gray! It’s beautiful and my artwork pops!!! I do have to disagree with your outlook on the room. I understand the 21st century view of the past, but these people bought these items on their travels and your current outlook on something filmed 20 years ago is a bit harsh. Using “ethnic” then wasn’t meant as a derogatory term… much like in yesteryear people calling everyone from Asia “oriental.” We all now know things are oriental and people are Asian (or insert country of origin). So agree to disagree on that one, love to hate of horrible design on changing rooms and look forward to more vids!

Fun fact lux, radiators were commonly put in front of windows when there was only single glazed panes to create a wall of heat to prevent the cold from getting in. Of course now a days you have at least double if not triple glazed panes and as such, radiators aren't needed to provide this function. However, both mine and my partners houses have the bedroom radiators in front of the window.
