Breaking down Drake vs. Kendrick, why they are beefing, how this battle started, why it got so messy and where it’s going to go in the near future. With our pannel Elliott Wilson, Jeremy Hecht & DJ Hed. #drake #thebiggerpicture #hiphop
Drake's upbringing and what he raps about is not in sync with "the culture". Lil Wayne even gave him a warning to "Keep it Canadian" and lil Wayne was right. The culture will come after him with one of their own. Example: the Tupac AI was a bit distasteful, very gimmicky and Kendrick was like, ok I'll make it so when you show up in LA, you better wear a bulletproof vest because that was very disrespectful to the culture.
Lil wayne himself was a “fake gangster” a blood from Louisiana, he's basically Bow Wow that made it😂. Kendrick himself has been talking gangsta even though he's billed as a “conscious” rapper.
@@prophecy9521are we acting like being born and raised in New Orleans during a period with its highest crime rate is the same as being raised in Forrest Hill in Toronto? Even if Lil Wayne wasn’t blood, he still would’ve been exposed to crime in NOLA during that time. It was the murder capital of the world. We know Kendrick grew up around it so we don’t need to question it when he talks gangsta. Look at his old interviews… he’s definitely from Compton. But he’s a conscious rapper because of how messed up it is
@@thehungrysage he’s a fake blood though there’s no way around that, he let the 2Pac influence takeover. Even Snoop was exposed as a fake Crib. They’re all entertainers at the end of the day. I never questioned Wayne coming from the hood btw.
drake absolutely is a culture vulture and lacks cultural awareness; when he rapped "you rap like you about to free the slaves" was a prime example. he said that to a black person and doesn't understand the significance behind it. Like making people more aware of the bullshit is a problem. But it truely isn't Drake's fault; its everybody who co-signed him and allowed him to act like he was a part of the culture. You know everybody from the last verse on they not like us.
Or when he told Kendrick “you don’t bang the set” like blud he’s a conscious artist why tf would he bang a set? But if he drake had any culture and wasn’t a 40 year old Jewish kid from Canada he would know that not every black person in Compton “bangs a set”
@@K1Kamikazebecause on records Kendrick has taken the persona of a gangsta before on GKMC. It's part of his appeal actually. Drake isn't the first pop rapper to try to be gangsta LL Cool J has done it MC Hammer and countless others.
@@prophecy9521 I wouldn’t say taking the persona of a gangster. He’s storytelling on that album, a lost art in hip-hop of this current era. Nonetheless, he actually is affiliated with Compton bloods, but don’t promote that through his music and image. Ironically, when Drake’s blackness is called into question, he says very questionable things. Like, why have the slave line? Why attempt to diminish someone for an “apparent” lack of gang affiliation, as if that’s a prerequisite for blackness? I’m sure he didn’t intend for that reception, but it can easily be received that way
@@prophecy9521 no... "being from the set" is not at all part of Kendricks appeal and he has never taken on a gangsta persona. and u clearly know nothing about MC Hammer, ive lived in Oakland my whole life its the total opposite, mc hammer was a real street dude who played the persona of a pop star. u waaaay off with that take
I did hear that MC Hammer have street ties. It doesn’t change the point I made if you can read😂 Kendrick is a street advocate and a conscious rapper? that’s the walking contradiction that people criticized about Pac, but Dot gets none because the west coast only has him holding it down for the latest Gen.
To all my drake heads, drake lost 😂😂😂... Yall just be saying anything at this moment Talking about kendrick has a ghostwriter which he doesnt so stop the cap please😂😂😂😂😂😂
Never forget that Hip-Hop is and will FORVER be black culture. A LOT of people forget this. Just like in the video, there is a line. You must be willing to know it and it’s up to you if you’re gonna cross it.
What cultural line did Drake cross? I watched the video and he didn't break down the line that Drake crossed. They're trying to cause confusion to take him out. How do you beat a king, and convince the people he's not from the culture
Unless you get jumped in to a gang then that's different. You apart of the family. Outside of that, any opps of the homie is an opp to the gang. So yes, you slap him you surely gettin' packed out by the homies and your shoes thrown over the powerline and you can't get it back
Drake lost the battle because Kendrick a superior lyricist and MC. This cultural talk is nonsense. Black Americans do not own the black experience or culture. Drake definitely isn’t what Americans might consider black or “worthy” but he’s a global superstar. Who cares what a small part of his demographic thinks?
Em never claims he is a tough black N and out there fronting it (obviously, unlike Drizzy), Em ain't claiming anything cultural to any of his songs except the very street that he grew up with, and the closest Em ever mentioned anything related to cultural awareness is him growing up on the hood where the rap battle is a part of it.
Drake coulda won if he woulda just went full pac and said man fk you and fk culture this between me and you not culture and whoever else want it rick ross fk you too metro fk you too asap fk you too but he kept tryna copy what Kendrick was doin for example kendrick took drakes timestamp title thing so drake does it back with the heart title kendrick hits him with the A minor drake goes with the B sharp and he just kept doin this there's nothing original about that you copy and pasting he kept tryna prove his legitimacy and explain himself rather than just go in on the dude you seen Kendrick didn't reply to nothing drake was talkin about just kept coming at him drake didn't wanna be the villain and he shoulda
@@0akland510 by who c'mon be real ain't nobody putting no green lights on drake you didn't get 69 you didn't get Zimmerman you ain't getting drake that coulda been one of his bars and end it with fk culture
@@jordanflores5687 hahaha bro Oakland literally has no working 911 dispatch centers. That city is practically GTA right now and the prosecutor don’t put anyone in jail 😂
That's what I keep saying, they keep doing mental gymnastics to jump around this. Kendrick is jealous that a biracial “foreigner” is on top of the genre he wishes to lead, all by himself.
@@strongbone9471 Drake is bigger and has put in way more work for the generation. His music has different moods and he has the most range of songs in hip-hop history. He's rap's greatest hitmaker, he would've been the goat if the ghostwriters never came out.
@@Swish_God According to STATISTICS which is real data, it is true. You’re probably the same dusty blaming Single mothers for why children end up the way they are. I will never defend BM. FOH 😂

@@Swish_God Don’t be a liberal. comedy is comedy. Drake was raised by a single mother. The man is certified part of the culture. The youtube comment section should always be jokes.
I know the wave right now is to hate on Drake but he clearly won this beef. Drake out rapped him was smarter than him etc. Drake UP this whole cultural unawareness is so dumb. Just another excuse they making for Kendrick
@@kaineshigaraki5253 I guess? Family Matters was the best song in this. I didn’t say Kendrick was trash but Drake out rapped him while also going at 7 other people
Drake did more for the culture than kendrick, drake made hip hop worldwide famous and kept the world interested in hip hop ,hip hop wouldn't be dominating today if it wasn't for drake 2:26
Hell nah, Hip Hop never faded even if we removed Drake completely from the timeline. I honestly remember him more from his pop songs than anything else.
