Unbelievable...the older i get (57 now) the more i am happy that my generation was able to enjoy this new kind of music from The Cure, Joy Division, Bauhaus, Heaven 17, Blancmange, Depeche Mode and all ze other bands i listen to 40 years ago...
I saw The Cure in 1979 in London. Tiny crowd. Had a drink with the band after. Bumped into Robert before their gig in Santa Barbara in 1987 where I had moved to and he remembered our meeting the previous decade. Ate with the band post gig and we’ve been in touch since.
Timeless classic, this is the best Cure song in my opinion. Amazing how Robert’s voice has not changed much after all this time, still sounds fantastic!!!
And thousands of other spellbinding breakthroughs of pure emotion, magical power, and truth. Immensely significant and truly special timeless time. If you were born in 1980...yer alright with me...and I love you 🌬 💋💋💋
Ok, this song was released in 1980, but in my opinion, this is not that 80´s sound at all. This is wonderful postpunk, the "bridge sound" between 70´s and 80´s.
@@philipdanielgonthierlamas8062 Exactly. Analog recording technology had been perfected by the mid 70's, and digital technology was still in it's infancy and almost never used for live recordings. Some of the best, most high quality live recordings (of any band) I've ever heard are from the '75-'85 period.
@@petercullen1462 He did not say that only Americans record well. And we know what film is, he was merely saying that is is a good recording, that can mean audio or video or both.
Love the haunting unic sound of the CURE since I was a teenager. Now I'm 50 and I still do love this amazing band. "A FOREST " is one of their masterpieces. One of my favorites ones ! CURE is a timeless band whatever !
Became a fan late 80's. Found them while in the Marine Corps in Desert Storm. Remember being in a trance listening to them on the Walkman that played cds. These days the trance feeling is the same
Actually fairly normal audio quality for 1980. It was the age of analog, which had basically been perfected by the mid 70's. As long as the gigs were being recorded through a multi-track mixing console on to 1/4" reel to reel, and not on some crappy little boombox with a condenser mic, they all sounded great.
I love this 1980’s Robert… cause’ he has the original essence of the performer, Just play your music and the World keep spinning around the real talent ❤
@@miked1355 The Cure members are genius. I'm 52 yo and once a week I share music with young colleagues at work. They are astonished with most of the songs of that era, and The Cure are top level; they were innovative on their early years (and later too)
I saw The Cure in their first gig in Madrid, June 1985. I was awesome. I paid 300 pesetas, equivalent to maybe 1,5 euros today. Unforgettable. I saw them in 1980 here in New Zealand, regent theatre Dunedin. It was raining I was 17, punk wrist band, badges, hair spiked, about maybe 400-500 mainly students there, Great start to one of the best decades of music
I know Cure since 1979, but i had never heard this recording, i am from France. Thank you english language for bringing us the best songs of 20th century. 🤪🥸🤩
This live video of the cure a pack in April 1980 is freaking incredible and I have seen them back in 1985 on there the head on the door tour! That was the first time and last time that I saw them on tour! Their 1980 album is beyond description
I was listening to the Cure *AND* Ozzy and Van Halen in the 80's, except it was 70's Black Sabbath-era Ozzy and the first 3 VH albums only. Never needed to limit myself to one genre or join anyone's clique. I just liked what I liked, and still do. Caught a lot of shit for it back then, and still do sometimes. I gave not one single shit.
Amazing the fact that in this one you even can see RS expressions while singing, since most and later performances those details keep mostly hidden by his make up.
It's really hard that I was only seven years old when the Cure played such professional music ... I love them ... And they will always be my favorite band ...
I was 9 when this song was recorded live. Whoever recorded then remastered thank you. It’s wonderful to see this. New perspective to this creative group of people
Que manera de ser buenos en vivo con un sonido que te deja impresionado, miren los años que tiene esta grabación, impresionantes, los buenos músicos así son.
Just catching up with these early Cure videos. Always picture Rob as mellow big hair Joker-like goth when listening. But this early stuff .. it's really good. And so Rob Smith ... who would've thought ... was like really good looking ?
My alltime favorite of into the forest of the Cure. The voice of Robert is beautifull and the bass outstanding. Hope they will post seventeen seconds too some time.
The UK and her culture is being dismantled. It's tragic but nobody can argue that for decades it's been the most influential country for music. It has so many musical geniuses it's crazy.
