Hi there fellas, bass video again. Since I got some request for more The Cure songs for bass tabbed videos I decided to share a cover of this bassline as well, coming from the most iconic album from the band: "Disintegration" from 1989. The song that gives the album its name has a steady yet hauting bassline driving the pace of the tune, played by Simon Gallup. It´s a fairly easy tune to play, but fun anyway. Just a couple of attention on the 16th notes with the pick and a bit of chorus on the effect chain, and you should be set to play this one.
Hope you enjoy this! If that is the case don´t forget to leave a like, subscribe, or share with music friends that might like this content too. Feel free to leave your comments on the proper section as well if you want, I make sure to read them all and answer whenever I can.
As always thanks a lot for watching! Although I do these primarily to keep up my music playing in my free time between working schedules/shifts, ultimately they would not make any final sense if any of you weren´t there watching/interacting/sharing/etc, so thanks again for that. See you again in the next video with more music!

Everytime I start watching one of your bass videos I don't know whether or not I should just dance to it first and then go back and play to it or pick up my bass and play while I'm dancing.lol to which my brain says play,just play and tap your foot.😂🤣😂

instead of reaching all the way to the open g its almost easier just to play the 5th fret of the d string alot more control
@GabrielNardinMusic
@GabrielNardinMusic Год назад
I know exactly what you mean but this is not just some "ergonomics" matter, the main reason why you play the open G on purpose instead the equivalent in the D string is because doing so allows the note to keep ringing while you move along the lower notes and keep playing the riff creating a desired effect of multiple notes sounding together, something that is particularly wanted in the context of this riff with the tone used, etc. On the other had if we were talking about linear playing where the start of a note inevitably means the end of the previous one then yes, you could search the most comfortable way to do it along the fretboard (in this case for some people would be 5th fret D like you mention). Thanks for watching!

@@GabrielNardinMusic your 100 % correct and the way u show is the way its played live i just figured for some ppl it might be easier to fret the 5th fret and hold it while u play the rest

Thanks very nice video! 😃🤘(actually the bass line is simpler than the one you recorded, the 16th notes are not being played by the bass but a guitar, you can see it quite well on the live videos 😉) Anyway nicely done, keep it up! 👍

Thanks for the video. What audio interface and software do you use?
@GabrielNardinMusic
@GabrielNardinMusic 2 года назад
Thanks! Audio interface is UMC22 (Behringher U-Phoria) and software depends on the occasion, but the stuff I use is as simple as it gets. Mostly Guitar Rig 5 as a standalone software or the classic Audacity (which is the one being used here). Mix is done with the built in elements on the video editing software. Feel free to check more of my covers or subscribe if you are into this stuff! Greetings!

At first I was thinking how the hell did you play the open notes so clean without the fretting hand doing anything then I saw the fret wraps haha. Are they worth it? Never looked too much into them
@GabrielNardinMusic
@GabrielNardinMusic Год назад
But the thing you see on the video is an absolute homemade fretwrap I improvised using a wrist band I had at home from the days I played tennis as a youngster, so it´s not like a pro fretwrap like those you might see on music instruments stores. In that case I can´t aswer properly, but this one for me has at least decreased some of the harmonic ringing that comes with "gainy" tones sometimes, but not much else. I am not sure if I would buy one after this experiment, lol.

or just save yourself some money and play the 5th fret of the d string instead of playing hopscotch all the way to an open g
