Maybe I'm a simpleton. Maybe a History Channel rube. But IMO, I still find the story interesting enough to watch every week. Its a family story. It's a respect the ones that came before you story. It's a story I enjoy. If you are bored with it , that's fine too. I will be watching. Thank you for the time it took to read my opinion.
And I called it interesting. Not entertainment. The easiest job in the world is Critic. I still like the show. I understand the other opinions and the comments are pretty funny.
These guys don’t care about money anymore. First few seasons it was an issue that steered decisions. Revenue from the show is paying for it now. But I could careless who pays for it I love the mystery and hope they solve it
I think they will get rich from books and the change of history the Canadian giver meant or the Nova Scotia government must really think ther is treasure or they would not be in on it I wish they would use other contractors in Canada other than Irving oil who is prob the richest company in the maratimes old man Irving would be in his glory if he was alive I guess Irving’s are one of the main employers in the east coast I hope they are giving people work in the east coast I was born in sackville New Brunswick just on the border of Nova Scotia and a lot of poor people her I hope it gives people opportunities to make some cash as I believe they are still a lot of people living way below say what we make in ontario we had to move to Ontario cause no money in the east wish I had the opportunity to grow up ther it’s a great place with wonderful people the hardest workers in Canada in my opinion
I've been saying since day one is a hundred and something Islands there why would they make it look like it's buried there and then bury it why not actually just put it on another Island and make it look like it's on Oak Island
A few years ago, an investigation of the larger end of the swamp and the makeup of the material used to close off the swamp area from the ocean and looking at the swamp side of the road area, a log head wall was found and nothing more was said about it. Why and when were the logs placed there before, after, or during the roadway was constructed?
I told you folks that you have to dig all the strikes you get. " expert " Gary has passed up tons of stuff. Metal doesn't crawl out to an island on it's own.
I’m very much looking forward to the new season. I really think they are going to find information that will change history and tell the true true of what happened in our past. I wish all the members safety and caution on all of their endeavors so that none shall perish in the final hour. 💕 🙏🏻
Traverse City is where the brothers are from...I have followed the Oak Island saga since 1950 Jr high school after coming across book in school library . Mega bucks and loss of life on a wild goose that's been dead a long long time.
They have had 3 family members all tell a tale of these familys finding chest of gold and they even give these guys a cross that was in the chest but they keep on digging i think it was in season 2 or 3
I had a dream the other day that they should bring a psychic on to the island. Like find a few good ones and see if they all come up with similar answers to things. But don't give them time to research. Call them up and tell them to meet you somewhere that isn't the island and then bring them there.
Absolutely incredible show!! Keep on digging guys, the answers are all yet to be found. The puzzle pieces are starting to come together. Love this show!!
I have been metal detecting since 1977 by myself for exercise and as hobby. I have a couple of shoe boxes filled with pre 1964 silver coins worth scrap silver value nothing fantastic. I have only found 8 gold coins in that time period they to are only worth scrap gold value. My gut is telling me that the treasure was found long ago and already spent.
I just watched a recent episode where they metal detected (I think) a silver Canadian dollar in a well. As far as I'm aware, this could not be older than 1935 - is that why they never said another word about it??
@Dennis Helder That would be great, but the Province of Nova Scotia would never issue permits for that kind of excavation. Remember, those guys cannot search for any treasure on Oak Island without their treasure hunting license, even with the island being privately owned. Canadian law......
Can they first metal detect the entire island first. The frustrating thing about the show is that it seems like the guys dig a quick hole or Gary makes a few sweeps and then they're done. Remember the ROV they sent down 10x? I think they only did one sweep and called it a day. Maybe that's just the shows editing IDK.
@@mikemeyerphotopro Good observations! Gary Drayton can metal detect, but if he does it in an area that is not covered by the treasure hunting license (e.g. the adjacent seafloor of Mahone Bay) and he detects something significant, they cannot dig it up. Yes, I definitely remember Borehole 10-X and how they walked away from it after the revealing sonar imagery and even that diver going down in it. I don't believe anything that diver said when he stated that there was "nothing" down there. I'm sure that was all scripted for the show. The sonar imagery was very clear as to what was down at the bottom! History Channel is treating us viewers like a bunch of children. It's not just show editing. If they pursued Borehole 10-X and revealed what apparently is a portion of a "tomb" at the bottom, that could very well solve the Oak Island mystery and the show would end. No one would be making gobs of television money anymore. That's what miffs me about this stupid show. Be it the Money Pit, Borehole 10-X, the box drain(s), the alleged 90-foot stone or anything else related to Oak Island, if they feel they are getting close to solving the Oak Island mystery, they will quickly switch to something else to further drag things out. It is indeed very frustrating. As long as everybody up there is making money, I'm sure they will aim for at least 63 seasons of this Reality TV show if not more. Remember, this sensation-oriented Reality TV show is all about ENTERTAINMENT and is not about answering questions or solving the Oak island mystery. This show is not a Documentary on the subject.....
@@johnwoa Hey johnwoa, I'm not sure how much longer they can drag things out due to costs. I know Marty is pretty loaded but he'll tire of dropping cash. They probably don't make too much from the show. I have heard that Chip and Joanna Gaines only made 25k per episode of Fixer Upper. The human bones from different regions were an interesting find. I like it more when they are digging and not travelling the world or listening to crazy theories. So what do you think? Is there a treasure of some kind deep, down under? I sure hope so :)
@@mikemeyerphotopro As long as this show is at the top of the ratings on History Channel, they will milk it for all it's worth. Those guys up there are making really big money on this very popular show. You can't compare "Fixer Upper" with a show that centers around the world's longest running and most intriguing and mysterious treasure hunt. Yes, the human bones found very deep underground that were determined to be from two different overseas regions was fascinating, but what really miffed me was that the segment where the Middle Eastern bone was confirmed to be from a FEMALE was not aired on a regular season episode, but was casually placed on that recent Curse Of Oak Island show containing unaired segments--- and for Marty to say something like "maybe a female pirate?" is ridiculous. The show clearly didn't want to pursue this female bone discovery and I wouldn't be surprised if it has a religious significance. After all, somebody went to an awful lot of trouble to conceal something deep underground at Oak Island a very long time ago. I'm sure there has been "treasure" on Oak Island in the past. There might even be a lot of treasure that is concealed in the filled land that comprises the causeway that was built when the top of the island was literally bulldozed off to create the causeway. Keep in mind, they didn't have today's modern technology or Gary Drayton to examine and metal detect the mountains of dirt that were being bulldozed to build the causeway. So what do I think? Whatever was deep in the Money Pit is still down there and I have believed since the late-1990's that it is a tomb of somebody VERY PROMINENT in history, possibly from the Middle East, given the accounts of the strange symbols that were seen on the 90-foot stone when it was first discovered in 1803. In recent times, the alleged symbols were verified to be of Berber or Tifinagh which have their origins from before to shortly after the time of Christ. If it is an ancient tomb, it was probably placed there "from below"--- through now-submerged cave entrance(s), or crevices, that appear on modern-day oceanographic bathymetric charts that would have been above-ground (i.e. dry land) in ancient times when sea levels were lower immediately adjacent to Oak Island. The Money Pit shaft might have already existed as a sinkhole and was filled in and created after the fact with the multiple oak platforms to possibly conceal and protect the tomb, and the 90-foot stone, with its strange markings found "face down" in the Money Pit--- said markings/symbols not being intended to be seen by anyone digging down into the pit--- would have been the ancient 'capstone' for said tomb. It is clear that there have been many incursions/visits by different peoples to Oak Island from far-off places over the past two or more millennia, but all the above are my thoughts and beliefs as to this entire saga. Sorry so Lengthy!
it would have been interesting if it wasnt for the fact that every time they find something they r confident it will lead them to the treasure and it never happens
@@OntarioRob what i dont understand is they found the box drain. so why not excavate the box drain and follow it right to the treasure? but no, instead they search for a stupid ship in the swamp while saying ,"oh this changes everything" when everything they've done up till now has changed nothing. if i have to hear rick talk about stupid "eyes and boots" another 100 times or one of his other stupid catch phrases im gonna go nuts. the only guy i kinda like is gary the metal detector, but even his quips about "oh it must be treasure" when all he finds is a stupid button is getting a little old.
I still feel like they been digging in the wrong spots on the island, I'm still trying to figure out why they never dug up the hatch when they got that french map of the island
The joke with buddies of mine is "I can't wait to see what they DON'T find this week !" Having said that , the father of a friend of mine discovered The French ship Chameau off the coast of Louisbourg in the 1960's . I remember my friend telling me how his father and 2 other searchers went year after year , after year , trying different search methods . How they dragged old bed-springs along the ocean floor behind a boat (and a whole lot of other methods they tried) - to see if they could filter objects out . And how a lot of people thought they were either crazy or wasting their time . I went on the Oak Island tour this summer - I have to say , that island seems a LOT bigger when you walk it ! Anyway my point is - these types of searches can be long and tedious . When i get frustrated with the show , I change the channel or have a beer - or both ! "Le Chameau (Camel) was a wooden sailing ship of the French Navy, built in 1717.[1][2] She was used to transport passengers and supplies to New France (in present day Canada), making several trips. Nearing the end of her last voyage, a storm blew her onto some rocks on August 27, 1725. She sank, with the loss of all aboard; estimates range as high as 316 dead. In 1965, Alex Storm and his associates located the wreckage near Chameau Rock, and recovered a treasure of gold and silver pieces."
We have made a drinking game with this show. WARNING: You will consume large amounts of alcohol. Everytime the narrator says "Could it be" (or any form thereof) everyone takes a shot. One episode is usually enough maybe two for heavy drinkers. And benge watching can be hazardous to your health. Try it, it almost makes the narrator tolerable.
Exactly. I can't stand this show any more. Endless digging and finding nothing but old bits of junk. They wasted more millions than anything they could possibly find on that shithole island.
Always said. The90f t is the key. Start in swap.. Hence the triangle dogs etc..follow it all back to the missing stone in the crucifix and note the round island to the north. Holds the vantage point and main thing.
this is the Geraldo Rivera Al Capone vault on steroids! lol! the only treasure found was from the hundreds of commercials they show during every episode!
I always watch every episode of this Oak Island, and in my view it is 75% man made but still curse is there and final one will die if they found all treasure. Anyone who touch the Gold coin could have a curse for his/her eternal life.
so even though its taken a very long time I really do believe that if they keep at it they will be able to truly answer all of it and find out why so much work was done there no one would do the insane amount of work done there for nothing or even for a few chests of gold I think when they do figure this out its going to be way bigger than anyone thought and im pretty sure its all still down there because had someone found something that big it would have shown up somewhere in history and there would not be so many unanswered questions
The Chinese have built about 10 islands big enough for military planes to land on in the same length of time it's taken them to dig a few holes and find a prehistoric drill bit.
7th season: finding new investors and getting new writers for the show.... the guys from ancient aliens is what they need with all their "Could it be... or perhaps... or maybe.."
I believe that Treasure has been on Oak Island. Likely, very important treasure. But, I don’t believe it is still there. When the boys who first saw the light & commotion around the Money Pit, I think they were witnessing someone either getting the treasure right then, or finding that it was already gone. The key to the treasure has been locked cryptically in places for men of knowledge to find. These guys are trying to force their way into the back door, and they just didn’t earn there way in. It’s a head game, not one of brute force.
“Could it be” that this channel has been stretching this out for far too long with ho hum results? I would bet the money pit on it that the answer is yes.
TheBadger what? Haha that comment is soooo ironic bahahaha so they buried and stone tablet with unknown symbols 90 feet in the ground because stupidity?
If it looks crude it's older. Is this possible? Could it be? If so why and how? Could they be digging on the wrong island? 150 million spent on Oak Island and it could be the wrong island they're on? Say what??
From a Blacksmith point of view the swages should have square holes if used in mining. The miners had just limited space in the tunnels and the tools where consuming very fast. So the brought the tools and the handels seperatly so they can change the handel when the tool was broken ore consumed. And this was easier with a sqare hole. They have but lets say a 15 tools into a bag with 3 handels. Imagine entering a tunnel with 15 tools with handels in your bag. So i dont think the saweges where professional mining equipment of the time. Or mabey this is the reason why the dumpt them somewhere.
Portuguese as we always knew arround here. For us is simple fact. We...The Portuguese... the real sailors in the 15th century went way up there! Check the carvins in the large bolds all over the Canadian coast! We fished our cod there for 4 or 5 centurys!
I admire the tenacity of these guys but after more than 200 years of study of OAK ISLAND and after this show's, what is it now, seven seasons of using the most modern heavy duty drilling and digging equipment and modern ground penetrating detection instruments, with no significant results, you have to wonder if they have been going about this all wrong. Let's step back and consider the BIG picture; According to the legend and to this show's premise, the OAK ISLAND treasure was supposedly hidden by either some primitive pirates like Blackbeard or the Knights Templar hundreds of years ago. They were either hiding looted pirate booty of precious gold and valuables or the most important religious and historical relics of all time, like the HOLY GRAIL or the ARK OF THE COVENANT. So unless they were planning to never recover these treasures and just planned to hide them forever, which is doubtful, you have to conclude that they hid it in a way which would NOT require the kind of complicated procedures and advanced technology that we are using now and that there must be some other simpler secret SOLUTION to recovering this treasure that what they have been using till now. The attempts to descend the " money pit " have met with repeated failure and has revealed the existence of numerous " booby traps ", like flood tunnels which fill the pit every time a certain depth is reached and which results in flooding the pit. This suggests that if in fact the money is in this money pit, and it is not just a decoy, that the BOOBY TRAPS must first be defused or counter acted...and that this would NOT require advanced construction and mining equipment. Apparently they are still not even really 100% sure that the money pit is where the treasure is and every week and every season we get another theory and another " blockbuster " discovery like an old coin which always ends up going nowhere. This has been very frustrating and causes me to NOT watch the show anymore because it is the same old, same old script and same old same old repeated disappointments. I have to wonder why in all this time they have not just explored this site by digging it all up like an OPEN PIT mine. Forget the small little holes here and there and just open up the whole site. There are many open mine pit operations in the world which are much bigger and deeper than this entire OAK island so it is imminently feasible and logical to try this approach...before another 200 years go by. That's my idea and I hope someone is listening.
Just look on google earth. There are similar shaped islands in the vicinity. No need to believe they are two separate islands joined by human activity.
They could have dumped the tools for digging on the other side of the island 200 yrs ago so anyone finding them won't think to dig where they buried it. If you're going to bury some fantastic treasure, you don't leave the shovel right where you buried it. DUH !!
I don't think they have really thought of the gravity of what it take to dig such a elaborate spot for a treasure to be hidden. The man power it take to do the work involve I'd would think to be impossible as of the find especially around beach well the tide can wash most everything in. And the structure remains of many forgotten villages
The ark of the covenant was found in the early 90s by Ron Wyatt ! You might find something that maybe goes with the tabernacle.. but it’s not the ark of the covenant 📝
