Love this show and the dream chasing is being done!! But sooo much has been missed and destroyed.. Alot more to discover. I hope this brings HUGE rewards to yourselves.

If they really haven't found a gold doubloon or anything solid gold to date. Then they obviously do not have any direction in there plan to find the treasure. They have moved off course of there objective and will most likely will still have nothing to show in 10 years time. Or the TV show is leading everyone on for maximum profit, but if they were doing that they would have won more viewers to watch the show by changing out that plated button for a solid gold doubloon. imagine the RU-vid views if it was a gold doubloon or a solid gold ring or necklace.

It's like with the show finding Bigfoot, if he was actually real and he may be but even if they ran all up into him they wouldn't say. It would just be "we may have found BIGFOOT!" Then when you watch it it's just a bunch of hooping and hollering with someone banging on a tree to "get bigfoots attention" and maybe some producer has someone hired to tell from far off so the cast says "did you hear that?" Then it's over until the next show where they repeat the same thing over and over show after show.

why cant they show the actual discovery? Of course they will when they find it.. Of course they will drag it out as long as they can tho

Canada has environment protocols in place that the Laginas always have to get permits and permissions before doing anything on the island and btw... they almost own HALF of it already.

Just the same as with Borehole 10-X, they would not pursue the "depression in the ground" you mention because to do so might wind up solving the Oak Island mystery and this top-rated Number One money-making show on History Channel would end. The Money Pit was originally a deep sinkhole that connected to the cavern(s) far below. It was "backfilled" with dirt and the securely-fastened oak log platforms after "whatever it is" was placed/entombed in the alleged Chappel Vault, which was almost certainly originally accessed via cave/niche entrances at the shoreline. Two of these now-submerged cave/niche entrances are seen on bathymetric maps that were produced by the Canadian government Geological Survey back in the 1990's. These would be the "hidden opening" you refer to. Unfortunately, with steadily rising sea levels at Oak Island and vicinity over the past two thousand years, the cavern(s), the cave/niche entrances at the ancient now-submerged shoreline indicated on the bathymetric maps and "whatever it is" that was entombed there is all under water and is inaccessible.

Yours is an excellent question! Oak Island, which in ancient times was actually not an island, but was connected to the mainland when sea levels were much lower. At one point in ancient history, the island had a different name, but was eventually named "Oak Island" BECAUSE it was the ONLY island of nearly 365 islands in the Mahone Bay region that contained towering Canopy Oak Trees that lined the eastern portion of the island. These Canopy Oak Trees were non-indigenous to North America and have their origins from the Mediterranean Region/North Africa. None of the Canopy Oak Trees remain on Oak Island today. There was just one left before the year 2000. They are now all gone. Of interest, Oak Island, as well as many of the other islands in Mahone Bay, have oak trees on them, but these are the conventional North American oak trees that are commonly seen throughout the northeast. Why ancient peoples deliberately sailed across the Atlantic Ocean and planted Canopy Oak Trees at Oak Island is a story in itself!

@Buggles mymind Yours is an even MORE EXCELLENT question regarding the last remaining Canopy Oak Tree and any core sample taken. Oh, and thanks for the "compliment" (i.e.calling me "Sherlock"). I can't believe that they wouldn't have done so! With the large numbers of conventional North American oak trees that are common throughout the northeast and on Oak Island, I don't believe the Canopy Oaks were planted to be used as a resource to make ship repairs, etc.... The Canopy Oaks were not growing on the entire island... only near the eastern shore ("see archival B/W photographs of the island"). I truly believe those non-indigenous Canopy Oak Trees were deliberately planted with the intention of them growing to be tall visible "landmarks" for the ancient ships so that they could spot Oak Island on the horizon as they sailed in from the Atlantic Ocean and up the coast. There was no modern navigational aids back in ancient times (i.e. GPS, LORAN, RDF, and Radar) so the ancient vessels, only having a compass, literally navigated at night by the stars to find their way. I believe the Canopy Oak Trees were planted solely to be landmarks in order to find Oak Island. Remember, Oak island was the ONLY island in the Mahone Bay region that had them!

Back then, we were all hyped up about pirate treasure (i.e. gold doubloons and Pieces of Eight), but my views have completely changed about Oak Island, especially since the 1990's when the Geological Survey of Canada was up there with a government research vessel doing extensive research with state-of-the-art marine technology. Marty Lagina has admitted that there are things about Oak Island that he is not at liberty to reveal at this time. That says it all!

It can't be current! I'm in Canada and the Canada / U.S. border has been closed to ALL non-essential traffic since March and it is STILL CLOSED. How did Gary Drayton get into Nova Scotia from the U.S.??? I don't think so! Searching in the sea.... I don't think so! If there is a Season 8, it must be rehashing, past highlights and reruns. Hopefully someone will upload that 'CoOI' TV commercial here on RU-vid so I can see it for myself.

I don't believe it was a settlement. Oak Island was platted into lots around 1760 and was uninhabited prior to that. It would be more of an "encampment".

I've been following this saga since 1962 and, judging from some of the evidence at Oak Island, "whatever it is" that was deposited (i.e.entombed) deep beneath the island via the "now-submerged" cavern(s) was placed there long, long before the British Monarchy ever existed. We can only hope that, one day, the Oak island mystery will be completely solved.

@Get Funked Since it was an 18th-century coat button and not a coin, I honestly believe that it was not planted, but I do believe that a large part of the scene, if not all of it, was scripted and staged. It's not the first time that scenes in this show were pre-arranged and staged. After all, this is an 'Entertainment' Reality TV show and NOT a Documentary about the Oak Island mystery.
