This Gen 1 Kawasaki KLR 650 "Tractor" is going to be a custom, farkled, modded ADV beast when I'm done! Most of the mods will be budget-friendly, and I'll be documenting all of the how-tos and wrenching for everything I do... because if I can do it, anybody can do it!
The KLR is a pretty awesome adventure platform for budget dual sport riders, especially with some of the inexpensive mods out there that can get just about anybody enjoying an adventure. I'll be modding it to be a 70% road, 30% dirt setup. My priority on this project is to make the bike great for ADV touring. That means riding comfort (seat, wind protection), functionality (headlight upgrades, luggage, better cruising speeds), and cosmetic awesomeness that doesn't cost a fortune (a custom look that turns heads while still staying true to the "Tractor's" utilitarian heritage!)
