I was living Cleveland 61 too 65 as a kid, I remember seeing Lake Erie shores covered in dead fish and skeletons of fish... Horrible picture still embedded into what's left of my mind...
Great video on a sad topic, I have to agree, try to ignore the troll @will5286, you gave a breif history of the ship, showed some historical photos of it and showed some current pictures of the ship in port. Let's hope the damage is easily repairable.
I do wonder if Cuyahoga proves to be unsalvageable after the fire, if they’ll bring out American Valor out of layup at last since the same company bought that ship. They did have a plan for her, but then the pandemic hit. That said, I hope to see BOTH sail again, not just one or the other! (Also ignore the troll at the bottom of the comments)
Well, it's not news, but because the fire was contained in the engine room unlike the St. Clair and Roger Blough, whose fires spread along the unloading systems and essentially gutted the ships, Cuyahoga has a higher chance of being repaired and returned to service.
