evening champions, welcome back to another 'tism session. Today's stim is all about NCART, or trains, or the metro system which was eventually added to Cyberpunk 2077. But specifically, we're gonna be taking a look at one of the game's abandoned train lines. One which even CDPR forgot about.

We can all see it. The sequel is going to make the city look entirely brand new by adding North Oak Casino area, immersive N-Cart System, new skywalks, rooftop bars underground markets and clubs/lounges that were never open and areas that underwent renovation within the game lore.

Thats a question I often ask people, is if they think the next cyberpunk game will take place in Night City again but perhaps in a revamped future version of the city after the events of 2077, or if it will be in an entirely new location, perhaps one of the other places mentioned in the game or the lore such as Brooklyn in the NUSA.

@@KillR000Y thats a good point, if its in the same place itll be kind of reiterative but it will be more fleshed out due to all the work on the first game.

@@KillR000Y Common sense tells me that Night City or Chicago would be easy locations for them to do. A more immersive version of Night City and a small piece of Chicago to start out with would work well. Then the DLC could easily expand Chicago.

@@Hollywood1127 That's something I hadn't even thought of, other DLC locations for the sequel, I know a lot of people want to see what the moon or Crystal Palace looks like, and of course night city is building a maglev track to Chicago so there's definitely the possibility we could travel between both destinations either for the base story or as a DLC.

I remember I managed to break into one of the abandoned NCART stations in Pacifica next to the stadium, there was a lot of detail and design, even gangs you could fight at the train station, and what definitely could have been a path out down the the pacific car park where the actual Pacifica NCART station was, except it was blocked off with a gate. Actually just realized you showed it at the beginning of the video at 0:18. Also I would have loved to see that big nuclear-powered cargo train you see out in the badlands stop at the NCART station by the port and pick up containers and stuff.

I think they originally wanted to make a complete rail system for the city. To fill in the gaps in the transportation system. But in the end they didn't complete it. Apparently the plan was partially advanced. Then it was immediately terminated. I felt that Night City was incomplete during the game and lacked a lot of details.

idk if id say those barbwire fences are kryptonite for explorers if you didnt know you can actually stand on on top of them if you jump on them precisely and can walk on them but as soon as you try to well get back on it after you get back on its obviously still barbwire so youll still have that very high chance of getting put into one of those fall animations. but for the waterfront area i just think they didnt want anyone in their at all like they took the time to just absolutely put barbwire all over not to mention alot of places have invis walls its like they didnt want you to see how UTTERLY unfinished arasaka waterfront really was mind you during the early days of CP2077 CDPR were hiding details about the game and such like they were ashamed sorta to reveal it like how they keeped old gen stuff hidden ect ect.

SirMZK as soon as modders get into mapping tools they are going to have a lot of work..... We have parts of the city that can be opened, edited to be used and also we have places like the militech building that can be finished. We can also tell the modders to remove those damn fences and invisible walls once for all.... open all doors and stuff like that. Cant start thinking about a finished night city with a battle royale mode covering all the map.... maybe someday on the multiplayer scenario.

To this day, it astonishes me how half baked this game is! Also, 7:38, is that a genuine development shot? Because those trains look more like what the interiors would match. The actual Night City trains look completely unfunctional, as in exterior of them makes no real functional sense.

Yes it’s from the leaked build that surfaced a few years ago. The trains were definitely more realistic back then, it’s weird how they turned out

I’m pretty sure the trains in Edgerunners is how they wanted them in 2077 but obv something went wrong but considering it’s in Edgerunners they haven’t forgotten about it so I’m guessing they’ll be there next game

I remember a dev years ago talking about how there was supposed to be a whole sublevel to Night City, but the suits at the company shot it down

@ALaughingMan hopefully they cut the bullshit and do this next game right. I do like how they finished out the original cyberpunk game, but they can do a lot more with the next one. Especially after switching to Unreal Engine that should make things easier. That red engine should have never been used, they pushed that engine Way Beyond its limits

I think the double NCART track was added late into development by someone who wasn't familiar with the initial concept for the monorail, which was supposed to have trains riding above and below it for northbound and southbound respectively. They probably just added it to make the tracks end somewhere without really paying attention if that makes any sense or not, it's kind of a running theme with this game given the crunch they had to do to get it out on time... ish.

One thing I've wondered about the NCART trains as they run over the lines, what do they look like inside if you noclip into them? Are they using the same interiors as the trains when you use them for fast travel, or are they just empty shells? The reason I wonder this is because the trains I see running around look like different shapes to what we actually travel in.

Yeah so the free roam models are empty shells, exact same concept as day 1 2077. The interiors are just interiors, they have no exterior models. You can spawn the ncart interiors through mods and they are literally a rectangle of interior detail and nothing else

I do hope one day some devs talk about what was planed but cut, some may have been cut expansions and some may just be lost in development.

The trains probably only ever come out because the one going in was meant to be on the bottom, and that was never implemented

i've broken into every single NCART station in the game, except the elevated station at the memorial park. the underground station in memorial park is pretty easy to get into but the elevated one will need noclip to get into.

I wonder if the Ncart even is a Ncart... because its location kinda matches with the train track from Phantom Liberty trailer, the one in which Solomon Reed gets ambushed by Arasaka. However, it also could be the track from the early CP 2077 trailer (the one in which V starts in metro). Though when it comes to fences and stuff, I would be a bit less certain about whether there was a plan for an area at the docks. A lot of time these are reused generic assets from player-accessible areas which were used as "LOD enhancers" in inaccessible areas (after all, why make the same-looking fence twice), so having colisions, interactivity or way higher detail than surrounding area wouldn't necessarily mean there was something planned before (there is a ton of stuff like this in Little China and Kabuki, the two of the oldest and most complete locations in the game).

The NCART update was pretty much the same as every other update they released for this game: a watered down version of what was initially promised. Great redemption story guys, here's to the (Unreal 5) sequel. Cheers.

@@sethmcguire9679 No, I think switching from an in-house engine to an off-the-shelf one is a mistake, especially after spending what... 10 years developing RED Engine? It might not be the easiest thing to work with but that can be improved upon over time, and as far as tech goes it's a really good engine. More importantly, having your own in-house engine makes you fully independent as far as technical licensing goes, if Epic ever decides to pull a Unity with their licensing CD Projekt is screwed. Unreal 5 specifically is also known for being kind of... bloated, expect so Cyberpunk 2 to require Call of Duty levels of storage space and memory.

Hell yeah choom they had so many big ideas they had to scrap cause of time budget tech restrictions and death threats....i wouldve waited until phantoms release for the intial game but im grateful for what we got then and now! As well i appreciate chooms like you showing their ambitious tries before having to scrap which brings big hopes for Orion! Keep up the work choom! 🎉💯🤘🦾😎
