Tsangarides Winery is one of the most important winery in Cyprus and producers of organic Cyprus wines. In this educational video, Angelos Tsangarides offers a wide explanation of many interesting things:
1. History of wines in Cyprus and the market of wines in Cyprus: the wine production in Cyprus is very old and still it has the oldest branded wine in the world. The wine production arrested in the Ottoman period and then restarted by exporting mostly in the Soviet Union. Now, Tsangarides Winery offers organic wines and its fully based on Euroepean best practices
2. Taste of Cyprus Wine: if you are curious to know the flavor of the Cyprus wines consider what follows. Cyprus have indigenous types of grapes and wines like Maratheftiko Cyprus Wines. What makes them unique? They are produced only in Cyprus, and the soil is really vary here in Cyprus. Having a volcanic origin, every step in Cyprus finds different soil, different ground which makes its flavor unique. Moreover, in Cyprus the high temperature impact on the flavor of the grapes
3. Sustainable wine production: for the wine producers it's a form of social responsibility to produce organic wine and reduce at minimum the use of chemicals anyhow. 1. to search for winery offering tasting menus. With guide and experts in the territory you can learn the peculiarities of characteristics of the Cyprus Wines. My favourite? Cyprus dry red Maratheftiko, good option, unique flavor
2. to make responsible wine consumption, less quantity and best quality.
3. to prefer organic Cyprus wines because it makes a more responsible and sustainable wine production and it's also healthier
4. to focus also on excellent pairing and try local Cyprus cheeses like halloumi (which can be prepared under ravioli version, grilled and many other ways)
