The Dade Massacre - A Brutal Attack On The U.S. Military The Spark For A War
This is my first take on a historical True Crime style documentary/ story. I hope you enjoy it took a lot off work and research but it paid off and I learned a ton. The story of the Dade massacre the spark that ignited the second Seminole war. The spark that effected thousands of people and cost more money than any other Indian war.

To think that I had an Ancestor born and raised in Florida in the early 1820’s who lived through all that. 😮

Thank you for researching and sharing the history of your area. So sad that land and territories were fought so brutally. If one thing it has taught us is never to repeat it and work with peacefully outcomes.

The British victory at Rourkes Drift is a perfect example of battle around this period of troops outnumbered by native warriors yet the troops win the battle, a battle you should look at it was depicted in the film Zulu

Very interesting. But I wonder what the government expected? The land belonged to the Natives first. Still, it's awful that so many soldiers lost their lives.❤️

I have recently come down from Indiana to Central Florida. Your detectorist videos are great. Do you ever dig or hunt native artifacts here?

Great history lesson and video! I've been amazed by what can be found by just walking a shoreline etc. A rather forgotten War, BUT a major one for Florida in every aspect 💯. Currently reading "An Englishman in the Seminole War" by Randal J. Agostini. Amazing 1st hand accounts ALL over Florida.

I didn’t think Florida was one of the original 13 British colonies, I ask as a Briton who cherishes our special relationship with the USA

Your title does not make since. The black Americans and Native Americans were defending themselves. How is that brutal attack?

Very interesting story. One point though. Scalping was learned by the native Americans by whites that claimed Indian scalps as bounties. Definitely a cruel history here in America. But fascinating!

I’m a reenactor and volunteer at Dade Battlefield Historic State Park in Bushnell, Florida. I portray a United States Soldier. From my studies of the Seminoles scalping was extremely rare. One of the only documented scalping done by the Seminole was when Osceola killed and scalped General Wiley Thompson at Fort King in present day Ocala, Florida. If you would like a tour of Dade Battlefield for a video or just for personal knowledge let me know. Thank You.

Yeah that’s bullshit buddy. Instead of reading mainstream lies. Look into actual history. Earliest known evidence of scalping was found dated to the Mesolithic period, in modern day Sweden. Due to scalping marks on skulls dating 5,000 years ago. Another is, far more substantial evidence in North America dating to nearly 600ad. Commonly practiced by the plains Indians. Stop spreading lies and be proud. Scalping is frankly an innate human trait.

Native Americans were not the only ones that scalped, the whites did too.
