Should be a fun job retrofitting a more modern engine into that shiny camper, though myself, I'd have used the not-so-shiny one as the test mule first, that way you can iron out the kinks before performing the same heart transplant on the shiny one... :)

Enjoyed driving a Daihatsu back in 1987….. and the T1 still the best only wish the upgrades could have been do back in the day… I regularly clocked up 2700 a week and they never let me down (307 and 308D)

Great plan on the engine conversion I’m looking forward to the series, I’ve always liked the 207/307d shape and a good friend of mine has a nice one in the corner of his yard and may let me acquire it for a nominal fee, as you say the put off has been to go anywhere it sounds like your trying to kill them and you need ear defenders😂😂. Nice job been alot of work for both of you but it will last for many years now the mot person must of had terrible eye sight 😂🤣 im amazed it didn't snap in half by wat rott it had ive had many welding jobs on vehicles where the job gets more welding needed as you allways more rott but its done now 👍
My dad hired one, a 23-year-old school bus, to take the extended family to a field in the middle of nowhere to see the 1999 solar eclipse. Our family van at the time (70 BHP naturally aspirated diesel) only seated six, with the two grans we needed extra space. He complained bitterly about the lack of power going up mountains even being used to something most people these days considere woefully underpowered.
Al when are we going to see your souped up recovery truck on the channel and you never seem to Amaze me with your knowledge and cunning plans and I think if everything goes to plan with the conversion kits you will end up selling the lot you should get some plaques made up with the conversion number on each one 😊
Great content on Motorhomes and I’m looking forward to more. Question if I may! I have a 1993 Talbot Swift, great tool. It’s a bit boomy in the cab area which makes it a little tedious on a long drive! Could anyone give me some advice on how to quieten the engine noise ? I’m very happy with the old girl but at my age a quieter ride would be nice. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Al and Fudge for the great videos you do, you make my day. Yes al 👌🏿👌🏿 been messing about with vehicles meself today. Pals Got a 1.8t 20v 4x4 Octavia 5 speed. Well it now has a 1.9tdi VE engine sat in her with a 6 speed tdi 4x4 box from an a3 Quattro. Then I get home and I’ve got you and fudgey to watch 👌🏿👌🏿 perfect. Thanks al and fudge 👌🏿
I got one of those "long distance" mots once, bought a car from a dealer and i found lots wrong with it then figured out the mot station was about 100 miles away from the dealer......
