That looks like so much fun, and such a beautiful setting. I live in North Carolina, but I have fond memories of catching steelhead in the Au Sable river in Michigan when I was stationed there in the Air Force. Thanks for sharing this experience!
I have only had the privilege to fish Lake Superior rivers once but if you can believe it I have fished that exact creek. It so so beautiful. I fished it in the fall and caught Cohos, Coasters and a couple of Steelhead. What a fantastic river.
Was up 2 weeks ago, just missed the Smelt but got lots of Bows. Saw your sign at the road, I am jealous you live in an amazing area, I love it up there. We fish alot of the same tribs so I am sure we will meet up on a river someday

Some nice steelhead there Dave and such a beautiful river. I'm surprised that the fish are not sinker shy in that clear water since you have them so close to your roe bag. Down here in southern ontario its usually 12 to 18 inches or more between the last split shot and the bait depending on the water clarity. You have a fantastic fishery up there for so many different species. Keep the videos coming.
Thanks dude. 10lb braid, Berkeley I think. Swivel and 2 feet of 8lb fluoro for the leader. I go heavy so I can fight them fast and get them back as quick as possible.

Cool video but aren’t you concerned about safety if you did run into a moose or a bear that isn’t afraid of humans? How do you protect yourself up there?
