The Dark Secret Beneath The Jedi Temple - Star Wars Explained 

One other thing interesting about the Jedi Temple is it's shape. Triangles are associated with the dark side and Squares with the light. If you look at their holocrons and other symbols you'll see this is a reoccurring theme. If you look at the temple, you can see that the lower half is a pyramid, a sith shape, cut in half with a square top, a jedi symbol. The temple was always a conflicting symbol.

Building a Jedi temple on top of a Sith shrine was the dumbest thing the Jedi did,outside of moving from Ossus to Coruscant.

The attempt to purify the sith temple was most likely an excuse the jedi who moved in used to look noble, when in reality they moved on it because of the property value was so cheap since no-one else wanted to move in.

Would like to know more about the floor plans of the Jedi Temple as shown at 6:31. Like a walkthrough. Also how it changed when Sidious took it over and redesigned it.

Could have been a solid sideous/jedi fight scene had gone like this in Revenge of the Sith: The Jedi suddenly feel bombarded hy force emotions at the Temple, pulling at them from beneath the Temple. Windu leads a team of a dozen or so masters and padawans beneath the temple to find Sideous standing before whatever remains of the old Sith temple, talking in the sith language to a ghost reminiscent of Plaguis, the area suddenly erupting in red energy circling about and fire pouring from crevasses Windu banters over the light defeating darkness, Sideous on how the jedi betrayed themselves by becoming war mongers. Suddenly, the Jedi yell screaming and running towards sideous, the fighting ensues and sideous uses both light saber and energy to maim, weaken, and kill most of the masters and padawans. Windu remains and is holding his own when Anakin enters. He tells Windu the same in the movie, Sideous needs to live and stand trial, but as Windu begins his striking motion, Anakins rage leaps out and he extends his hand throwing a lighting burst at Windu, knocking him against the far wall. Sideous rises us, takes a deep breath and with sith energy circling around him, pulses Windu over and over again, screaming "UNLIMITED POWER" before Windu is left weezing and broken. Sideous turns to Anakin, who kneels and proclaims his allegiance as long as padme lives. The remaining Padawans and masters begin to stir back to life and grab their light sabers, advancing again on Sideous, but Anakin rises up, and turns to face them, his eyes changing to a yellow tinge. As Anakin takes on the remaining jedi, Sideous calmly turns back to the Sith temple, and says "once more the sith will rule the galaxy" , plaguis appearing over his shoulder. Sideous pulls out a communicator. continue movie scene of obi Wan and Cody finishing the fight on utapau when order 66 is given. And then for the Jedi Temple 501st scene, Anakin emerges from the depths below and walks outside to the temple entrance to show the drop ships pour from a star destroyer entering the atmosphere, flying about him and landing on the roof and courtyards, 501st soldiers unloaded and setting a perimeter. Jedi temple guards come to stand next to anakin, asking what they should do, thinking he is their ally, who turns on them and brutally massacres them as the bulk of the 501st squad approach in formation. "Your orders, sir?" Anakin looks at them, yellow anger and hatred pouring from within. "Preserve the Republic" he replies, turning back to enter into the temple deflecting blaster bolts from other Jedi Guards as 501st flood forward, blaster sounds erupting all over.

In canon Yoda 100% knew that the shrine was there and what it contained, the High Republic novels make that clear.

I've always noticed that, it seems although they are aware of it, the jedi seem to forget there is only one Force... they treat it like there's 2 different forces, light and dark. But they are infact one. The basis of The Force is that of Yin and Yang.

What I really would have loved to see is Dooku trying to preserve his Sith acolytes and expose Sidious to the Jedi council. Then Dooku could form some sort of ceasefire so he could vacation with Ventress and Oppress to Sith Temples and learn everything they could, hopefully taking on more students in the future.

It defies credulity to ascribe this to a mistake or a misunderstanding of the Force by the Jedi when among their number are the greatest of their order. A rewrite like the following might work: the Jedi govern themselves by consensus and, although some like Yoda had misgivings, it was thought best to replace dark with light. At the very least the order could keep watch over the Sith remnants.

One of the dangers of quantifying the Force, and Dark vs. Light is that you rob something of the sacred and holy. It's interesting to see relics and shrines etc. in the Star Wars universe movies, games, etc. but it is unfortunately "real" to them, and thus no longer something "set apart". So it makes storytelling with something like a shrine difficult.

I can just imagine two Jedi passing through the lower levels of the temple: *Jedi 1:* _Did you just... Did I just catch a hint of dark side from you?_ *Jedi 2:* _Hey, you sensed it, not me..."_

There was only one true Dark Secret in the Jedi Temple: Yoda’s secret porn stash. It was so disturbing, Palpatine had to purify the place with Light Side rituals

Dark side has nature of change while light side has nature of stability. I agree, that mass meditation would be better way to deal with it. Maybe (because they can't just leave massive Sith icon standing) they should try to change it into part of nature or speed up natural erosion of time etc. Building temple did(according my understanding of light side) only suppressed dark side, not change it. So, to accident Jedi, it looked like it works, but in reality, they only built seal.

Proves that the Jedi have a very limited understanding of the Dark Side and the Force in general. The Dark Side is part of the Force, like it or not, but their dogmatic ignorance of its powers and properties has created a huge blind spot, enabling Dark Side users like Palpatine to sit right in front of several Jedi Masters without them even noticing.

If all the care bears held hands and said "we care" together, they would've beaten no-hearts sith temple.

This mirrors real life practices. Many "christian" churches, and shrines were constructed right over existing pagan temples/shrines, and even adopted pagan rituals & holidays.

I hadn't know about this before, although I assumed from the Clone Wars and Rebels that there was some kind of shrine of sorts in close proximity to Palpatine on Coruscant.

Coruscant is not the right place for je Jedi anyway: The city has pretty much consumed the entire planet, completely destroying it's landscape and nature, and the underworld of the city, after witnessing the suffering of thousands of generations who had to live in that place, is shurely a dark side hub much more powerful than anything the sith could ever deliberatly create.

It's strange how little it is featured. I've heard of it before and it's supposedly one of the reasons why the Jedi we see are much weaker than they used to be, but they never really show it.

So...was corrusunt a planet wide 1000 level deep city back then? If not...because the temple is on the highest level...did they continue to move it up and up...or did the temple actually have that many levels...like what is actually in the lower lower levels of the temple

3:38 almost, he got off the deathstar and got himself the sith planet we see in the rise of skywalker, there he manages to clone himself (how he did this is unknown) and the palpatine we see in the rise of skywalker is his clone.

Actually, the Jedi did install a dark side energy detector in the temple. Some young Jedi just took the battery out while they were fooling around with the dark side and forgot to put it back in. Young Jedi #1: “Hey guys, watch me force choke myself!” * ack, aack, aaack * Young Jedi #2: “Whoa, that’s sick!” Young Jedi #3: “Yeah, totally sick!”

There is no light and dark, only the force and those able to wield it. Light and dark are attributes given by the will of those wielding the force.

Didn't Luke make a similar mistake in the books when he created his new school in the temple on Yavin's moon? I seem to remember that some of the Pyramids turned out to be Sith in origin.

What are the chances that in the Asoka live action series they decide to make this episode or a few episodes based off the deleted scenes as well instead of Jedi that we don’t know Asoka will be with Luke Skywalker and Cal Castus as well those are the only Jedis that I can think of that are alive during that time of your not including the child. Yes I still call grogu the child even tho he is a few years younger then Asoka 😂 But it will make sense for her to be the one to say “this wasn’t the way” and attempt to cleanse the temple/shrine with more Jedi that both parties Luke and cal come with I don’t know if this means anything but isn’t she the only Jedi known to wield two white light sabers something about pure I don’t know maybe I’m looking to deep into it but this would be dope.

Think the jedi temple would be a amazing location for a star wars game and the sith shrine below like the story could start around or after order 66 player character returns to sneak into temple like jicasta early game then returns late game to find the secret sith shrine below. Learning about an ancient Sith temple beneath the existing Jedi Temple makes total sense on how the Jedi’s arrogance lead to their downfall. Luke’s speech to Rey in The Last Jedi about how the Jedi fell (and was well deserved) makes more sense after watching this video.

Jedi were "Woods & Nature" .. a City is man made, its "unnatural" and the sith thrive in unnatural. Jedi lost their way.. Yoda both failed the jedi and succeeded.. there shouldve been term limits for jedi masters, and there shouldve been a better set up like checks and balances to notice any shortcomings of a Jedi master..
