What makes me sad is that his brusqueness probably comes from an inferiority complex. He hates himself for not being able to perfect himself, so he redirects that hatred on others as petty arrogance.

You can also tell he genuinely cares Hyrule. He said the training grounds were originally meant for him alone but he began letting other archers 🏹 use it. This coupled with the fact that each of the Devine Beasts Themes have the SOS signal in it, showing the Champions were sending out distress signals knowing they were going to die, but Revali's SOS starts much later than the other Champions' and is much more frantic once it does start, is absolutely heartbreaking... He was so sure of himself despite being at a huge disadvantage that he waited until almost the end to call for help shows just how terrifying the situation really was to him.

@cldominguez42 2 года назад
What if the SOS delay wasn't due to Revali's confidence that he could win, but because he didn't even realize he was in danger? High in the sky, possibly further from danger than the others, he'd have heard the distress signals coming from everyone else and been distracted for the few seconds longer that it might have taken for the blight malice to reach him. Then he realizes he's in danger...Maybe the others held out hope that at least one of them would survive...only to hear that SOS come a few seconds later.

You know when the fight starts and Revali mentions that windblight ganon "plays dirty"? I think this may be what he was referring to. Nullifying all of Revali's strengths and hitting him with invisible and unpredictable attacks, of course he'd feel like the fight was unfair.

@macnamaryb7773
@macnamaryb7773 2 года назад
Not to mention it is very heavily implied in Age of Calamity that Windblight is a coward, whereas Revali is arrogant and prideful. Imagine how frustrating it would be for Revali when, in the brief moments he catches Windblight, he just up and runs away, or uses his drones as a distraction. Each Blight, at least to me, seems to be a perversion of their corresponding Champion, but hot damn Revali got his traits mirrored in the worst way for the fight at hand.
@whosahassa
@whosahassa Год назад
You know, in the original Japanese dialogue, he doesn't say anything about Ganon "playing dirty." Rather, he says that he, Revali, let his guard down, or got careless. All in all, the Revali we see in the English version has a different attitude post-Calamity than he does in the true version, not making excuses, but acknowledging fact.
@ChaosEffilis
@ChaosEffilis 2 месяца назад
Not only that. In age of calamity when revalis fighting windblight, it’s raining. Since storms come in on a low pressure center, it makes it really hard for birds to fly, along with his feathers getting wet, which puts him even more at a disadvantage with his flight. Even if he tried to use his gale to dry, he would most likely get frostbite (assuming his gale is of cold wind) Nintendo did NOT want this guy to win 💀
@RandoPassingBy
@RandoPassingBy 2 года назад
Also, anyone noticed that the Windblight is technically, the weakest of them all? However the Windblight in Hyrule Warriors has two canons when in botw, he only has one. And Revali lasted his fight the longest. Which means, even in that situation, he still managed to do a decent damage to Windblight. And that’s why Windblight is an easy boss.

I do love Revali. Even before something about him was pointed out to me, but once I realised this particular fact about him, I had so much more respect for him. Revali is the only one of the champions to actually work hard and make his champion ability. In Mipha's diary, she talks about healing Link when he was just a child and the way she talks about healing magic makes it seem like something thats not unheard of. Rare maybe, but not something unknown, especially by the Zora. So it's safe to say it's something she inherited or was born with. Yunobo has Daruk's protection and is said by the chief that Yunobo is a decendant of Daruk so it's most likely something passed down through bloodline. While much isn't said about Urbosa's fury, in Age of Calamity Riju also has electric abilities. With both of them being chiefs, maybe the thunder helm has something to do with it. That's just a theory though. In Revali's diary, he talks about having a dream about creating an updraft from nothing and from that decided to work and push his limits until it becomes a reality. In the Champions' Ballad DLC memory we even see him struggling to perfect it but still not giving up. He straight up just made Revali's gale out of nothing but hard work and persistance while the other champions just had their ablities and for that, I think he deserves some praise.
@orianefaton1885
@orianefaton1885 2 года назад
For the Urbossa and Riju part : In OOT, we need to remember that Ganondorf was a sorcerer (or at least knew magic), something he learned from Koume and Koutake who also used magic. And, those two were the leaders of the Gerudo before his birth. I think this is safe to assume Gerudos have magic powers running in their veins. Maybe the stronger the magic, the higher the position (in the past) and now it is just frequent for the Gerudo ruler to have magical power. The helm maybe was more the symbol of a previous ruler who had really strong thunder power, who became a legacy.
@dominicmoisant8393
@dominicmoisant8393 2 года назад
Rito are the newest race in Hyrule at this point as The Zora, Goron and Gerudo would have long epochs of history to have their powers passed down to their champions. Due to the Rito needing to evolve fast from the Zora and only gifted the ability to fly through Valoo, Revali had to inventively create and refine his race's champion ability from nothing but sheer will and determination.
@deadinside44123
@deadinside44123 Год назад
while i do agree that revali is extremely skilled, the fact that these powers are passed down or obtained in some way does not subtract from the skill the other champions still possess. Urbosa can summon lighting by simply snapping her fingers, but for link to activate it, he needs to charge up 1 or 2 times before he can use her ability. it can be interpreted multiple ways, but to me it seems as if just to harness urbosas power it would take that much of links energy to unleash it. i’m not gonna go in detail on everyone, but i think they all did go through a struggle to master their abilities

@LinkedWolf23
@LinkedWolf23 2 года назад
If you add the reason for Revali's pettiness and the SOS signal into all this, it makes Revali's story even more tragic. A personal theory of mine is that Revali acts so petty is because he needed to work to get where he was. It's implied (at least it was to me) that all the other Champions were born with their powers and born into positions of power. Revali wasn't. We see him struggling to master Revali's Gale in The Champion's Ballad and beating himself up over failing. He had to work his feathers off to become a Champion, and all Link had to do was pull a sword out of a rock. Imagine how crushing that was for him to have all his work be for nothing. Anyone would feel jealous or resentful if that happened to them. And things only get worse when it comes to the SOS signal. While the other Champions immediately sent out their SOS signals, Revali held out long enough to see (or rather, feel, since he couldn't see anything) the true power of what he was fighting against. Unlike the other three SOS signals, Revali's SOS isn't masked by the music. It's out there, easy to hear because it's the signal of someone he knows that he's about to die.

We learn that Link pulled out the master sword when he was a young teen and ever since then he was expected by everyone to become the great hero of the legend, even going silent as the time went on as stated by Link himself and quoted by Zelda: With so much at stake, and so many eyes upon him, he feels it necessary to stay strong and to silently bear any burden."

@@pforgottonsoul Thats because it’s not the norm and I don’t think anyone’s telling you that it is. It’s not that he’s being an asshat, and I don’t approve his behavior but I still respect him because he came from a place where he had to go through so much to the point of pain to get to where he is as a champion and a wielder of a craft probably unheard of among his people by himself rather than being born with a power, and despite all that he did, he was put on the sidelines to merely support the chosen hero, and for someone prideful and arrogant as him, he is of course salty and there usually that one person in a group who is. It’s not that being an asshole is the norm, it’s that it makes it realistic for someone to be on board with being a hero to his people but still salty that he wasn’t chosen as THE hero despite what he did to go so far. Kinda like being an employee and doing so much for an establishment, and being well respected, but someone else gets promoted despite not going through as much as you just because of a special thing rather than skill and how much you went through. To say that being an asshole = the norm is ignorant. Yes he is arrogant, egotistical, prideful, and at times ignorant himself as a result, but the fact that there is someone in the group who is makes the dynamic between the characters more interesting in one way or another. He doesn’t seem to have much spite towards the other champions, probably because he’s aware of their importance and they’re well known fighters among their own people with their own share of power and skill, but Link was born into a royal family of knights and had a darkness sealing sword and had he not possessed it, he would be just a royal soldier like everyone else probably. The Rito was not born into a privileged background like that. Revali was also ignorant of the fact that Link beaten adults at a young age and was trained well, but Revali had no one other than villagers to get where he is. He’s straight up petty but he actually had an understandable reason that doesn’t excuse but explain why he acts that way. Tdlr; Being petty over something for a reason, given someone’s background is realistic and is something people feel all the time. He’s a petty asshole and I can’t excuse it, but at least it’s understandable why he is. I’m sure people like you have been one for a reason.

I feel like all the Blights hard-countered the Champions they faced. Mipha is more of a support/healer-type and Water-Blight not only has high damage, but also super long reach, meaning she probably couldn't keep up the healing even when she gained distance. Urbosa is said to be a strong warrior, so she's prolly very durable and strong, but Thunder-Bright was just too fast. It most likely didn't do much damage, but slowly chipped away at her, whilst dodgeing all of her attacks. Daruk just got rekt completely by the fact the Fire-Blight's shield can only be destroyed by Bombs, which he didn't have.

And since everyone else in the champions has inherit gifts/an awesome sword effectively given to them on a silver platter while Rivail has worked for his abilities… the guy is trying to prove his worth to everyone. In AOC canon, they had their weapons while fighting the Blights......which puts a big hole in that, in a way, seeing as if that's the case, and if AOC is an alternate timeline to BOTW, if they had them while fighting the Blights in the BOTW timeline, *how in the blazes did their people get them back?!* Which is why I prefer to think the same way: That the "memory realm" fights are recreations of the fights from the respective memory of the Champion who fought the Blight in that memory, only with a winning outcome.

Since it's the first Revali video I found, that isn't years old, I decided to put my thoughts here. I really liked his character in botw. If all the champions were simple, happy friends the story would be kinda blant. The other 3 were constantly extra supportive of Link, (Daruk was even his friend and Mipha had a crush on him) and I think Revali noticed that and it made him even more determined to be the one that holds Link accountable and demands diligent work. Also maybe it added to his jelousy cause he had to archive everything completly alone? As I said somwhere down the comments I have noticed, he's much nicer to other champions in the playthrough than in the cutscenes. For example, he praises Mipha quite a lot and when I played with him and Daruk he said something like ,,I don't need any h- I mean thanks Daruk" witch shows he works on himself at least a bit and isn't an ashole intentionaly. Like lots of people have pointed out he was the only champion that didn't have magical powers, neither was born with a title/in a position of power, that explains why he's mad that Link is fighting Gannon beacuse of fate. It's not just jelousy, he really cares about his village and I can't imagine that someone like Revali, who relies on nobody but himself his whole life, would trust anybody easliy with that task. He was also pretty young ( somwhere around Mipha's/Link's and Zelda's age according to Urbosa's dairy, different hyrule races age differently tho) witch absolutely doesn't excuse his actions towards others but it's definitely different than grown man being petty to much younger teen. Urbosa and Daruk seem to be in their maximum potential years but I can't help thinking he and Mipha could develop their abilities even more if they lived. I also think it's interesting that because of the cockiness you would take Revali for someone who dreams of being worshiped yet when the elder proposed him a statue he chosed a flight range where he could perfect his abilities even further instead. (it was actually wholesome Daruk who has built a statue of himseld witch I found funny) I could write some more but it's quite long. Anyways, I think Revali is the most complex champion and obviously not everyone has to like him like I do, but people who hate him with passion seem very friagle & noimmune to few words of criticism. Another thing to consider regarding seeing the blights? Even without worse night vision, Revali would have had a harder time seeing Wind Blight. Water Blight is indoors in a well lit room within Vah Ruta. Thunder Blight is also in a well lit room within Vah Naboris, not to mention the electricity lighting things up even better. And Vah Rudania? Yeah, outdoors... But in a volcano, lit up by the lava and magma. Meanwhile, Vah Medoh? In the sky, outdoors. No lights from the divine beast, no sunlight, being in the sky would even mean less moonlight, potentially having clouds to make it effectively like fog, as is the case during the Champion's Ballad rematch with Wind Blight. In terms of visuals, even for us as Link, Wind Blight's fight is visually darker and harder to see. Obviously not as hard as it would be in real life, and with poor night vision its even worse. Revali may as well have been fighting blind. You want to simulate it? Do the fight yourself, blindfolded. Even then, we have the benefit of being able to try an infinite amount of times until we can determine things from sound. That being said, its fitting for Revali. The most confident champion, cocky, believing himself to be better than everyone, even the chosen hero, ending up with what would be a fight tailored to be insanely difficult for him, a fight that only he could manage (until Link got a paraglider) yet with an added twist that impacts him the most.

I always thought Revali was kind of relatable, the reason people hate so much on him is, that they see their own weaknesses and uncontrolled hateful emotions reflected in him. He is just as full of envy as all of us, and at the end he still takes his chance to realize how he mistreated who he'd thought of as his competitor. I think it's also easier to understand him when you take into consideration that link never talked to him, and by that wasn't able to communicate freely. There's a lot we can learn from Revalis mistakes and i think that is what makes him such a unique character, even if he seems like your average envy filled, uppish and overall mean losing competitor. I don't really think that theory holds water. While I have warmed up to Revali somewhat, especially after Age of Calamity (although the way he treated everyone poorly got on my nerves, especially how he treated Daruk in the cut scenes leading up to the Korok forest mission), I started out completely hating him. And speaking from that perspective, the reason I hated him was because of how he handled his emotions. Maybe there's some degree of relatability in the emotions he felt. I can definitely understand, if not empathize, with someone getting severely upset when they're upstaged by someone who is just naturally gifted with everything they've worked hard to achieve. My problems with Revali stem from his superiority complex, and the way he handled his emotions. He belittled everyone around him, and talked about himself like he was the best thing since sliced bread. And while Link's silence might not have helped the matter, Revali handled his feelings in a very unhealthy way, lashing out and applying false blame to people who meant absolutely no harm in their actions or words (or lack of words in Link's case). He was petty and vindictive, and anyone who can relate to Revali's behavior (not his feelings, his behavior; how he handled his emotions, and how he treated others) probably needs to go to therapy.

Completely missed one other detail. You know when it's dark, and someone suddenly switches the light on and you're blinded for a few seconds? Yeah, now think about Windblight's cannon. The other blights all have constant glows from their weapons. But Windblight would just be low light, then sudden flashes of light. Even the few continuously glowy bits on Windblight would be harder to spot for anyway simply because of those bright flashes. It's also the kind of thin where night vision doesn't help you much, because the better your night vision is, the more the blast blinds you.
@OctoAri
@OctoAri 2 года назад
I actually had no idea that Rito night vision was so bad. But it does explain something about the Windblight battle in the Champions Ballad that I had never put much thought into (beyond thinking it was there just for a different experience). The fog in that fight so heavily obscures everything that I actually ran off the edge at first because I couldn’t see. If that is even close to the situation that Revali had to deal with then I’m not surprised he wound up losing. Especially since archery depends on having a clean line of sight to your target and Windblight’s only real weak spot is his eye.
@renegade6578
@renegade6578 2 года назад
What's worse about all this is the implication that Ganon specifically made the blights to counter each champion individually and used similar weapons as a counter. He wanted the champions to lose in the worst way possible, invalidating their own strengths. Revali killed himself to be as good as he was at air combat and was beaten by a creature that could effortlessly levitate Daruk ancestral protection was easily replicated by Fireblight and he was unable to do anything about it. Mipha was a excellent fighter as well as a expert swimmer but that was meaningless against waterblight who not only outranged her, but could spear her out of the water. Urbosa straight up couldn't keep up with Thunderblight who used underhanded tactics she couldn't counter and her own element against her. Everything that made each champion special was completely invalidated by Ganon's own "champions."

Imagine a combo of the two. He doesn't see he is in danger and realise because he got hit by an attack who came from seemingly nowhere, then after trying to assert what his situation is, he first try to fight his ground, but when seeing that he can barely see his target (the worst possible thing for a long range fighther) he tries to find the terminal, acting based on his memories, but have to deal with dodging constant waves of attacks, because the Blight tries to prevent him to send the signal. He would be even more panicked in that case, because he is under the rain, fighting against something who is more of a ghost for him, with nearly no vison at all (maybe made worst by the cloud plus adding that the light of the attack could hurt his eyes because of the flash, making blind for a few seconds, which can be everything in such a battle), maybe injured at the wings, which would make it more troublesome to shoot too and finally, with maybe deep down, the perfect awareness that noone will be able to come to help him, because like he said himself to Link, unless you know how to fly, you cannot get the Vah'Medo, and like we said, Rito have bad nigt vision, so none of them could fly to help him, and even if they did, they would just all be killed. (I somehow wondered just how deseperate he must have felt, because he was surely the most aware of his situation being hopeless, even if he jumped from Medo to try to save his life, if his wings were hurt, he would have not been able to fly, though his pride would have surely made him fight like he could until his last breath, I think)

Yes, except he had it the worst, honestly maybe even not taking into account the darkness. Mipha had to deal with ice limiting her water mobility? Ravioli had to deal with wind limiting his flying mobility and only form of attack, his arrows. His special power helping him fly? Basically worthless in the face of a tornado and 5 guns shooting all around him. Now you add in he basically couldn't see what to attack or where he was being shot from? The others all had been countered by impossible conditions too, sure, but not to the point of being unable to move, see, or attack. They were essentially all reduced to basic fighters against beasts, which Ravioli would probs be the best at given his backstory of hard work and not being born with some power like every other champion. I really liked Revali from the get go, truly. I never thought of him as HATING Link, but rather I think he hated the never ending cycle that Link was a part of. Ganondorf and Link have been stuck in this endless loop for generations, reincarnated again and again to duel against each other, and each time Ganondorf reawakens, disaster falls on Hyrule. You can't honestly tell me Revali is the ONLY character in this series who has grown tired of this doomsday on repeat. He's ticked, and justifiably so, as nobody BUT Link can end it, and even then, it just begins anew all over again. I think he was just angry at the circumstances rather than the hero himself, and unfortunately that anger was taken out on the only person Revali could blame for it. To quote him directly from the original BOTW game "It seems that I have been tapped to merely assist you. All because you happen to have that little darkness-sealing sword on your back. I mean, it's just ... asinine." And from that line of his, I just assumed he was angry that he, along with everybody else, can only rely on one person to save the people they love, while they themselves are completely powerless against the imminent threat. I don't know. I just loved his perspective on the whole thing, I thought it was a much needed approach for some of these characters to question the function of the cycle, and get angry when there is seemingly no solution.

Revali's English voice actor Sean Chiplock said that when first recorded for Revali, he thought he was just a jerk. But after recording for Champion's Ballad DLC he wished he could go back with the knowledge he has now about Revali. Revali trained himself and pushed himself beyond his limits to get where he is in terms of skill. And none of the other characters see that. We saw Revali pushing himself through the wind and subsequently crashing to the ground but Zelda just arrives after the fact. We as the viewers have that information, but the other characters don't. On top of that, Revali is a staunch perfectionist. He didn't show off Revali's Gale until he could do it perfectly. Not well, not great, perfectly. I heard the phrase "it's not bragging if you actually do it" and that's a great way to encapsulate Revali. He doesn't boast about himself because he's arrogant, he's earned that right through constant effort and work. Bringing it back to Sean Chiplock's feelings on Revali, he said that, at least from his perspective as Revali's voice actor, part of Revali's issue with Link is that he didn't earn his position. Revali broke himself down and forced himself back up over and over again and earned the right to pilot Vah Medoh based entirely upon his own skill only to be made subordinate support to someone who was the "chosen one." I can't imagine what a kick in the teeth, or beak as it were, that would be to someone who spent so long working themselves to the bone for recognition. And Link has his own set of struggles, obviously. But Revali wasn't privy to them since they share the trait of not openly communicating their feelings. From Revali's perspective, all of the work that he put into himself and his tireless efforts to be the best could only gain him the role of support. I would have a chip on my shoulder too.

I feel the need to mention the primary reason why everyone lost: NO ONE HAD THEIR WEAPONS!!! in the MT Lenaru Cutscene no one has their weapons (except for Link) and they didn't have any time to get them before going to their divine Beasts. This is why the weapons are given to you by NPCs outside of the beasts and not found inside them. Now you could say that they were recovered from them but then I would ask you, HOW THE HECK WOULD ANYONE DO THAT?!? VAH RUDANIA IS SO HOT IT CAN SET PEOPLE WHO ARE IMMUNE TO FIRE ON FIRE, VAH NABORIS CAN SHOCK LIGHTING PROOF THINGS, VAH MEDOH LITERALLY DOESN'T EVEN EXIST AND VAH RUTA IS PROTECTED BY AN IMPENETRABLE FORCEFIELD! If anyone could get into those things they could definitely kill the blights before the player could. So yeah, all the Champions at the time would have been unarmed while fighting the blights. Regarding gameplay logic, Urbosa is the only one who ever stood a chance at winning

This information makes me wonder a bit if maybe that's the reason why the only old Rito we see is Kaneli (I think that's how you spell it) the village elder. His appearance is obviously based off of an owl and he's only awake at night. If you talk to him during the day, you wake him up. Most owl species are either crepuscular (active in dawn and dusk) or nocturnal so their night vision is very good. I wonder if that applies to Kaneli who is the only Rito based off of an owl. (Unless Teba was based on a snowy owl but I'm pretty sure his appearance was based off a gyrfalcon.) Congrats on the anniversary with your lady btw.

I remember seeing that post! I figured that was where this video came from. I saw and was like "OH NO". It honestly made me feel guilty for giving Revali so much shade about losing to WindBlight, who is relatively easy for Link to beat. Glad to see this topic being given more publicity! Edit after I finished: "Our poor little chicken wing" caught me off guard. Also congrats on the one-year anniversary!

Actually I saw a theory that Windblight was easy for Link because Revali had significantly weakened it during his fight. Even with all the disadvantages he was presented with, the proud Revali gave it his all and managed to last till the second half of the fight. He was even able to tear off one of Windblight's arm canon and disrupt it's aim, which is why Windblight only has one canon and takes a longer time to aim when Link confronts it a century later. Revali was the one that made the fight easier for Link when the time came.

Plus, we have to consider that Link probably faced weaker blights than the Champions did since Zelda was holding Ganon back, kind of like the guardians losing part of their "consciousness" because Ganon wasn't in full control. Great video by the way ! I didn't know about Rito not having bad nightvision before seing it on Merlin's instagram, it's really changes the "Revali should have won the fight" conversation.

To be fair the blights were built to counter their respective champions. Thunderblight lightningfast so even Urbosa, who's amazing in close combat can't follow. Fireblight strong enough to break Daruks protection. Waterblight (as seen in AoC) can freeze the battlefield and takes Mipha out of her element. And well Windblight, with winds to deflect Revalis arrows and disturb his ability to fligh. Really the were in disadvantage all battle.

I must admit, I was never a big fan of Revali, but this video did make me feel bad for him. The additional difficulties he had during this battle was never something I considered, but... damn, there are so many. As soon as I saw the title, I immediately thought about how he's the only one of the champions who had no way of shielding attacks. It's super hard to use a shield in mid-air and it also completely stops you from using your bow and arrow, so of couse Revali didn't have one (Mipha also doesn't have a shield but she could use her spear to protect herself a little bit). And I never knew the rito have bad night vision. :( That's really unfortunate for him. Either way, great video as always!

The tale of Revali is a tragic one. From young, he had no parents, family or friends. He had to fend for himself. He trained day and night not to be the best, but to be admired by all of the Rito. His bitter attitude and Smug face derives from his hate for anyone and not opening up to others. His Efforts were in vain when A hylian served a higher role in defeating the Calamity. He was shocked and was in Disbelief. Finally at his last breaths of trying to defeat the Ganon with powers of wind. He was gone. His spirit will not leave until he is free and his goals are met. With the final arrow to The Dark Beast, his soul departs for new heights and eternal rest. His life was a depressing story and this is why RAVIOLI is the best champion

There's a lot that can be taken from AoC about exactly how each Blight was perfectly tailored to counter each Champion, and frankly, Wind Blight's advantage over Revali is just terrifying. Each of the fights go something like this; Mipha: A fish out of water. Water Blight freezes the water in the control chamber, eliminating Mipha's swimming abilities and attacks, while dangling from the ceiling far out of reach of Mipha's only weapen, her trident, while pummeling her with ice blocks and its own long-range spear. Urbosa: Speed vs Shield. It's made clear during her fight that Thunder Blight is completely immune to Urbosa's Fury as it simply teleports away from the attack. Urbosa is left to rely on her sword and shield combat style, which Thunder Blight easily overwhelms with its teleporting and lightning fast attacks from every possible angle. Daruk: Break the Protection. All Fire Blight had to do in this fight was whittle down Daruk's Protection and then land a few good blows. Daruk is simply too slow to land a hit on Blight and we actually see the moment Daruk's Protection breaks, right before the final blow. Revali: A bird in a cage. Revali is the only Champion that has the Divine Beast itself turn on him as Vah Medoh's force field is activated, trapping Revali inside and preventing his escape. Ironic as at this point Revali is the only Champion could have simply flown away to safety. Inside the cage Revali not only has to deal with his own poor vision, but also Wind Blight has the ability to completely knock him off balance by sending out mini tornadoes to stir up the wind currents. Not only has Revali got to first find the Blight in the darkness, he then has to take aim with his bow, which takes away his flight each time he tries to attack, while being blown around off course and having an anti-air gun firing flak at him. Then Revali's own weapon actually works against him - his bomb arrows. He's the only Champion that cannot get within striking distance of the blight otherwise he'd only end up blowing himself up with his own weapon. Not that he'd actually want to get too close seeing as birds have hollow skeletons and one single blow would have most definitely crushed him. Imagine you're a fighter pilot in WW1 flying a fragile wooden fighter plane and you're trying to eliminate an anti-aircraft gun that can see you in the dark, is constantly moving around while firing flak at you, during a hurricane, in complete darkness, inside a giant cage that keeps you within striking distance of the gun, and every time you fire your weapon your engine cuts out and you plummet hundreds of feet... That's essentially what Revali was dealing with.

When the calamity first struck all of Gabon’s power was pretty much at its strongest and the blights weren’t of actually stood a chance against any of the four champions if it wasn’t for the fact the attack struck moments before and the blights were very durable and could take many blows from the champions. That’s why 100 years later when ganon is regaining his power after being awoken, they were so easy to defeat and also why during age of calamity they looked much strobgp

Each Champion was ELEMENTALLY in their element but the Blights used the champions strengths against them. Mipha is agile in water so WaterBlight froze the water, Urbosa was fast and agile but ThunderBlight was faster and used clones, Daruk has his shield but FireBlight was just much stronger, and Revali could create his own wind/updraft which no one could do until ThunderBlight kind if made his own in the reverse direction I believe. I believe Ganon was watching them through the Malice Eyes so when the Blights manifested, they already knew how to beat them.

Revali has been my favorite champion. He worked so hard to get where he was, he wanted recognition for his deeds and felt jealous of people who he felt were given special attention for things (Link being a chosen one and such for example). He was the only real one had much character development in BOTW.

Surprised that it took as long as it did for the SOS beeping to go off in the Vah Medoh’s theme in comparison to the other Champions, despite having poor night vision. I guess he was willing to “wing it” despite the disadvantages, like maybe believing he could adapt and take him on. He was a warrior and warriors were trained to handle tough situations, at least that’s what I think Revali believes. What I admire is that he’s passionate about his heritage and skills and his dedication to his craft, without being born with an arsenal of powers, even though to the point of pain. Happy to hear more about Revali

JUSTICE FOR REVALI! He was the only champion that actually worked for his position as champion. Urbosa, Mipha, and Daruk all just had magic powers and Link was just some random soldier who pulled some dumb stick out of a rock. Revali trained hard to be the best rito archer, he trained hard to be able to create an updraft. He was just annoyed by the fact that he worked hard all his life to be ome a champion while the others seemed to have just been lucky.

I forgot who originally posted this comment but this is a good justification to why we kinda hate Revail. While I sympathize with Revail, even his 'reasons' for being a jerk make him seem more jerkish. He comes off as blind to those around him and is incredibly self centered with it. He's so focused on what he perceives as an insult to his abilities, he refuses to acknowledge everyone else, including Link, who worked just as hard if not harder to earn his position. He thinks he should be the "knight that seals the darkness" when in reality, he should be satisfied with the position as a champion.

I mean are the Ritos eyesight really worse than Link? Creating a champion says that the Ritos are essentially half bird half Hylian. It does say that they have bad night visions but if Hylians are the same as RL humans then their night vision is also not that great... compared to like actual birds like owls.

My assumption would be that Rito night vision is worse than a Hylian, but better than non-nocturnal birds, somewhere in the middle (which feels fitting for a race described as a mix between birds and hylians).

I always wondered how Revali lost, and this theory sadly helps give an idea how it possibly happened. Revali seemed equal if not better than Link in weapons combat so on a level playing field theoretically he should have bested Wind Blight. Would be interesting to theorize how the other champions fell to the other blights.

Within the fight of hyrule warriors, Revali and Link fight and his bomb arrows are scarily precise. So that might be something to say that Revali may of taught himself to be better acostumed to the night as he did also push the limits of Rito's aerial capabilities. However it's also cannon that Revali and Link never fought in Botw so idk

This isn’t really specific to Revali but Urbosa mentions in her diary that she hopes her and Daruk will be able to protect the others or smn, because they’re all so young. Just some food for thought that Zelda, Link and Mipha are all around like, what 17? And Revali is considered “young” by Urbosa and yet they’re all supposed to be Hyrules saviours.
