So if the mimic was built 1970 then yeah 9 years later the events of the secret of the mimic what happened. So Michael should already be born and he's six or seven for he could be a preteen or teenager in 1983 this can work if Michael was born in 1972.

Do we have any evidence The Mimic is actually sinister? That implies a level of intelligence we haven't seen evidence or proof of. At least not until much later in its lifetime.
