HFY is a story/series that takes a “human element” in either humanity or an “other” (race/species or object) that exists in a “setting” (future or other world/universe) with varying levels of culture, technology, society and history that help show in some shape or form the potential good or bad for humanity’s race/culture. In These stories Humans are often referred to as Human, Humanity, Deathworlder, Hellwolder in reference to the human planet of origin , Earth. This planet is seen by most of the universe as a place where only death and chaos can survive.

Humans Are Space Orcs (HASO) or Humans Are (Fantasy Race) Are used as a guide when writing.
In these Stories we normally View humans like the other races view orcs in a Fantasy Novel. We (Humans) share the same characteristics and personalities as orcs. Humans are normally treated as the outsiders and barbarians. Humans tend to be underestimated as well in these stories. Unlike Humanity Feck Yea , these don't always put a positive spin on humans\humanity sometimes looking at the darker side of human and humanity from the perspective of aliens.

Interesting concept. The alien hasn't gotten the idea of self-perception, but it has accidentally learned something it probably won't get the value of. It is indeed a misery to be so withdrawn that you perceive your own body as Other (btdt), but that is not Adelaide's situation. She just talks to herself and likes to read old fashioned books instead of depending on electronics that might not be compatible with alien technolgy.

Ah, given the descriptions, none of the other species are like us then. This is why we're lucky our biosphere took several iterations to get to our forms. They appear to have only one layer of protection. Meanwhile we, being jelly fish piloting a bone mech with meat armor, have multiple layers before you get down to our cores, offering us a far more diverse array of protections. Of course, what's actually going on is she brought a pet, something she is likely not allowed to have, into the habitat. She was speaking to it. Possibly a dog or a cat. Given this is one of the early ones, given statements made by our POV, this may, in fact, be a test run to see how our non-sapient companions adapt to life in such an environment. After all, better to simply do it and beg forgiveness later, than ask permission now. She is also stronger than he expected, based off her physical frame, which is interesting as well. Curious where the author is going with that. They have confirmed, more will be coming, in the comments on reddit, though this is simply what they have now, amongst a few half completed stories. Overall, I am curious to see where you go with this, wordsmith. I look forward to reading more.
