This was back in the day when even the youngsters were classy. Notice that the women didn't have tats or purple/pink/green/orange hair. The men were dressed in fine suits and treated the women with respect. I truly miss those days. I keep watching these videos because those were the good ol' days. I so wish we could go back there and stay like that always.
Ah yes, but don't forget, the creator of the Dating Game, Chuck Barris, also gave us the "Gong Show", then game shows went downhill from there very quickly....Ha, ha....
That's why you have to treat everyone the same as best you can, because that "knocking on heavens door" wrinkled grandma as the bus station could have been a woman like that in the past. Now someone you may look over like a ghost was once the center of attention among nearly every man.
That Michael was a cutie. I loved him from the second his face appeared on the screen - that adorable crooked smile. Loved his sense of humor. I would have chosen him too. 🤍 That Donna was gorgeous. She seemed smart and sweet too. Hope they're both doing well. I'd love to hear how their date went even though it was 54 years ago. I was born a few weeks after this episode aired. I love seeing things from that time period. So fun!!!
This was by far one of the most enjoyable episodes. No lame and corny questions and answers. Love the Confucius answer. Beautiful woman and handsome guys.
Wow those were attractive contestants- and she picked the handsomest one! Jim the host is so charming- one of the greatest ever. Thanks- I enjoyed this clip.
the 60's & 70's people were straight forward polite right was right wrong was wrong #you could say what you thought without being attacked or labelled people died younger it seemed to be sunny all the time not so many choices in life NO cell phones NO computers
If that's true, how could her name be Harris back in 1967 when she didn't marry Kenneth Harris until 1971 or so? I watched the tribute video on the Legacy page, and while there is a similarity in their smiles, I don't think they are the same people.
@@karli9434 I agree with you: I don’t think they’re the same person. The show’s contestant was introduced as Donna Harris from Whittier, CA. ‘Donna (Clarkson) Harris’ died in Rowland Heights, CA, which is 7.34 miles from Whittier... but, ‘Harris’ was the maiden name of the Donna on the show... while ‘Harris’ was the married name of the Donna in the obituary.
WOW, she had her hair parted like a rubix cube. I would enjoy a documentary on 60's hairstyles and the architecture that goes into being that complicated .
She is wearing a "fall" -- a hairpiece that was really popular at that time that was pinned onto natural hair to make it look longer or fuller. Girls would wear it while they grew out short haircuts.
October 1967 -- I turned seven and was in the 2nd grade lol. 😂 It's surreal to think that this October (2020), I celebrate my 60th birthday. Good lord --Where has the time gone?😣
And....*American white*..... don't forget that key feature among the populace. Now there's Jennifer Lopez and daddy Yankee and Latino/urban music everywhere. Big change since our day.
I would love to see how Miss Harris looks nowadays, see if she looks much the same or just how differently. She was quite a looker at the time of this show.
@@jamespfitz that don't mean nothing. Look at Betty White. She's in her 90s and she's killin it. She looks fantastic for her age. But yes, I know it was a joke. I was just making an example of how even the older of ladies can look damn great for their ages. 😋
Michael it is you !!! Wow thank you for sharing this with us. How innocent and decent people looked back in the day. Clean cuts no tattoos. You both looked gorgeous people. What is Donna doing is she still with us? Thank you for this.
What a great date!. Liza Minelli (very young) at the Carousel Theater (in the round) in West Covina and dinner at Starks. I was raised in Covina off Grand Avenue and that was very close to the theater and the restaurant. Starks was for special occasions. I miss both of those places. I hope you both enjoyed your time together!
The only things I didn't like about the guys back then were their hair and clothing styles, but I love the 90's fashion and that's ironic because they dressed in updated 70's fashion...I just realized this show was filmed in 67, I loved their fashion.lollolol
Cute and "gentlemen"...but then, back then "young ladies" were just that..LADIES...Both were "coveted", as opposed to today, when just the opposite is, sadly, the NORM...
Donna is absolutely stunning , the guys are all preppy and clean cut , I like both looks during this period , guys with short hair cuts and long hair , both handsome looks , so many guys had better hair than some girls , I had long hair between ages 12- 21 , then in the early 80's short hair came back , you had to be there to see it back then , clean cut looking guys with long hair back then was a very hot look , it only looked bad on guys who didn't take care of it .
the men back then are manly and handsome along with the ladies beautiful and classy unlike these days, what happened to you Americans? you used to look and act better
@@roylavecchia1436 And even then, not everybody had color TV, even when the networks went all color (except for the news). My family didn't get color TV until 1971.
Wow what a stunner. No matter what era though the rules of attraction are always present. Look @ the end with both couples and you can tell from basic body language which female was happy with her date and which wasn't so much.
I think I drooled straight through the clip over Micheal, oh my stars! But tell me if anyone else has noticed this watching clips of game shows, and other vids from fifty or more years ago. Does it seem that people were far less aggressive, or maybe overtly and obvious at being self interested? I've been watching clips like this for years, both on here and on the Internet Archive. Everything from random interviews with ordinary folk on the street, to game shows and whatever else you can find. Also, I've over a thousand aircheck recordings which are audio quality recordings of radio stations. They were made to periodically listen in on the outgoing signal to make cerain the audio qulity was good. Most of mine are pre 1980 and as far back as the 50s. And I've noticed the same difference in people's attitudes. It would seen as time moved forward that people became hyper aware of being on a tv or radio show however breifly and began to try hard to make as big an impression as possible. Where as now you can watch a simple review of a product on Amazon and swear the reviewers were trying desparately to sound like professional spokespeople for late night infomercials or something. I find it a bit unnerving actually, as if we've lost the ability to just be people, wanting instead to be celebrities or someone important. Any one else notice this?
Would make sense. October 1 was a Sunday and the day before (Sept. 30, 1967) was the day of the fabled Damascus-Dr. Fager-Buckpasser Woodward Stakes at Aqueduct in New York that was billed as "Race of the Century" (look for "Damscus vs. Dr. Fager: Meeting of Champions" on RU-vid to find it, the Woodward was their second meeting and second race on that video).
