Hi from Barcelona-Spain! What a game and what an end, I couldn't be more excited!!! After 30 years playing NHL games and watching some NHL video highlights from time to time (in Spain there was no NHL TV coverage at all until recently), this is the first season I have followed as a true hockey fan, watching many Oilers full games throughout the whole season. Highlights are great, but with hockey it is impossible to get the real magic if you don't feel the energy of all the hits, you understand strategies and assess the performance of each line, and many other details... that is priceless. Congratulations to all of you for having such a great sport, that provides so much spectacularity & emotion... And thanks for letting me join you! Go Oilers!!! :-P
Sportsnet highlight 1:08 timestamp shows the exact moment the puck touched the top of the blade and how slanted upwards his stick was Clearly at eye level aka above shoulder level so it's 100% a high stick. It's not that the refs missed the call, its that an automatic review wasn't done. A goal in the last minute is kinda important to get right you think?
@@GreenBeanGreenBean he’s hunched over which lowers his eye level. You can see the highest point the puck reaches relative to the glass, and then as draisaitl skates across the highest point is below his shoulders, good goal
I think all this arguing about whether it was a high stick or not means it was neither definitely not a high stick nor was it definitely a high stick. To me that screams inconclusive assuming this video clip would be the one that is up for review. If it is inconclusive, the refs would defer to the call on the ice, which was,in this example, a goal on the ice.
@@madladder228 if he's hunched over that means his shoulders are lower , means a lower bar for a high stick. That quite literally changes nothing. If your arm is straight out, your hand = shoulder level... they are literally connected.
@@GreenBeanGreenBean the high sticking the puck rule is based on the normal height of your shoulders, the position you’re in when contact is made matters
In my opinion, skinner is a good goalie and i like him but, when it comes to "picks" he is more seasoned as a goalie since he (picks)has been in the league a bit longer
I would differ with you in that Picard wasn't amazing. Given how rusty he is and how pressure-filled the situation was, he was amazing. He saved every shot that wasn't deflected, and impossible to save. He also looked more relaxed than Skinner and the team seemed to follow suit.
Plus Draisaitl was leaning forward and wasn’t standing straight up. We analyze everything in slow motion while things on the ice are moving at lightning speed. Thanks for the stills, Austin.
Canucks players can learn from Bouchard in that last minute. Our star shooters just have got to start shooting instead of playing hot potato with puck. Petey, Hughes (great defending and keeping the puck in the O zone but 0 goals and not much of his icon shooting so far), Miller, Hronek, Suter, Mikheyev, and Lafferty have gotta start showing up. I’m expecting some pretty big line changes for tomorrow’s game since there’s so many AHL players ready to be played.
Canucks played poorly yesterday, and didn’t decide to show up until the last 15 minutes 😫. Oilers came out of the gate with a mission in mind and played their assess off. Like Tocchet said, Oilers played like they WANTED the win and like the WANT the cup. The nucks did not play like that last night and it was quite disappointing to watch. Tocchet is going to absolutely rip into them today 😬
I'd like to see Stetcher in and see how that goes, he's sandpaper. Goalie change took balls for the coach and it paid off. If we get the win in Van we then have 2 chances to finish it off
I think Picard looks more of a goaltender just the way he play's just seems faster than Skinner this is where Woodcroft screwed up last year putting Skinner in after being pulled game before Campbell came in and played good and instead of starting Campbell he puts Skinner into a win or go home after being pulled I was shocked when he made that move Campbell was playing good and instead of starting Campbell he put Skinner into a pressure cooker and it was the end
Nurse needs a new partner, it’s actually crazy how much Ceci drags him down. Should have been addressed last offseason, no matter how much he’s liked in the room. Campbell was liked in the room too. On Draisaitl, he’s just built for the playoffs. He knows how to pace himself in the regular season so he can go all out for the playoffs. It’s amazing to watch
But that is part of our salary my guy... We pay for a goaltender you guys don't so it's not a valid reason. Imagine if Canucks had Demko in net, that Vezina guy.
I think Perry kinda respects Boeser as a hockey player cause I’m sure he would have went after anyone else on the Canucks. Boeser is such a gentlemanly player.
Devastating for the Nucks lol The Oilers are probably going to win the series. I Would love to force a game 7 but I have already accepted that the Canucks are probably not winning this series. If we do I will be very very happy
You take a major with less than 5 minutes left, it's an automatic suspension... Why does everyone forget that? Not sure that cross check was anything else given Soucy, like every other player, MUST have control of his stick "at all times". Zadorov was saved the suspension, as was Hyman, in order to not put the Canucks down 2 dmen. The fine was obviously needed, as lame as it was. The win belongs to Kane for going out there banging and firing up everyone and Ekholm for going out there and getting banged up to make the play. Need more of the same next game, much more. That from Perry, is what I needed to see from him, seems he has a bit of that FAFO attitude.
Was a good game Ceci makes me nervous and again I apologize for my offensive comment wasn't intended to hurt anyone I was mearly stating the fact on how Ceci has his moments of mental breakdown.
Congrats captain pickard. Have to go with pickard. Great game, much more effort. Nuge, finally buried one. 😊 Kulak played great. I knew they'd win just needed avg goaltending. No broberg. Ceci is big and doesn't get burnt off the boards. His forwards weren't in position for outlet passes, not his fault. Yeah dont play ceci with nurse.😊 Yeah oilers lost 3 defense men larson, klefbom and sekaras. Larson to free agency the other two to injury so we couldn't lose 4 that yr, thats why darnell got the contract he got.
@Venture143 ah gotcha, thanks! I didn't know they talked about it, I had just been sent the clip by a few people and wanted to discuss it today =) appreciate it
@@Venture143except it 100% was a high stick..... he touches the puck while his stick is slanted upwards, at eye level. It is not that the refs missed the call... it is the fact it should have been an automatic review.. and wasn't
I like Boesers reaction to Perry, calm and fearless staredown. the longer Perry held his stick up to Boeser the weaker he looked, not in my opinion the effect that Perry wanted to portray.
This was an nhl gimme game for their oilers- part of the punishment for fighting back against one of their golden boys. (Who is not so golden). But Canucks cannot play the fake game. They fall into bad habits all too quickly. Canucks have to play aggressively and speedily ALL the time. Z needs to be sneakier like marchand and a few others. Likewise, perhaps an average sized player can learn the sneaky payback moves to execute without size triggering eyes. Like dealing with bullies, if public protection will not protect you, you have to protect yourself, as you are all you’ve got. And i don’t agree that dirty play to knock out opponents so you can win is part of the real game. It’s like a win by default. You are not good enough to win on hockey skill. Talent and finesse are the game. But as i say, you are the only one there for you. (You being the team).
@@homielander5924 watch the game lol whenever van scored it would pan over to the van crowd and they were going bananas. meanwhile in edmonton the fans were sleeping 😴
And he is leaning downward not level with other shoulder that is the giveaway to the play his shoulder is way down compared to right shoulder that's why they didn't bother to look at it
