Ivanovic during his prime was the best RB in the world. Rock solid at the back and always a threat going forward. Always gave his 110% when he's on the pitch as well. True blue legend 💙
He was never the best right back in t he world. In England maybe, for half a season. But we’ve had Lahm and Alves, and city’s Zabaleta and Juanfran of athletico, and Valencia at united was up there, who were consistent throughout their long careers.
To me Willian was under appreciated.. there are times Willian holding on to the ball for too long but even when he did that he never really lose the ball unlike Sterling.. he can score he can dribble not a great passer but not bad either always believed on his own abilities to beat defender and always try to shoot if given a chance.. unlike our player last season scared to go forward never really try to shoot.. our team back in the days always created something out of nothing.. never afraid to try always shooting even if they missed they kept trying.. our players never thought of the ball going to deflect on a defenders..
@@emeliakumi2399 We played some great stuff up until that awful run that got him sacked (although we didn't get immediately better with Benitez). Scolari had us playing some brilliant football in the first half of the 2008/09 season too. I think Ancelotti's first season was the benchmark style-wise though
Mannn watching this made me miss this team so much. Dazzling young Hazard. Matic the best CDM in the world that year and Fabregas constantly unlocking defences with his magic. The perfect midfield pivot. Also forgot just how good Oscar could be when he was feeling himself. Such a shame we lost him to China at such a young age, he was such a versatile player with a capability to pull off some magic at any time. Great, great team.
He's been quoted in interviews saying because his family come from such a poor area of Brazil he wants to just earn enough money that they'll never be back there. He simply went for the money and I could never blame him for that.
People talk about Chelsea letting Salah, De Bruyne go... at that stage, Mata was on the bench at times as well and he was our best player. I would have Mata, Oscar, and Hazard over Salah or De Bruyne any day. They are both great but nowhere near where those three (Willian was ok rotating) at that time. Certainly one of our best teams.
You beat me to it. I was going to say something similar. For me he was a threat over a free kick and going to his right in or around the top of the box. Still can’t believe Cesar allowed him to score that very goal against him last year.
@robindefoe8429 there was also the ballboy match the season you won the league cup. A lot of memorable matches between the 2 teams within a few years.
@Spectrescup Ah, no. We DIDN'T win the League Cup that year. It was the semi-final 2nd leg, having lost the first 0-2. Swansea's tactic was to frustrate and time waste for the entire game. And it worked. This was what led to Hazard's sending off. The referee should have pulled up the Swansea captain in the first half and warned him. By the time the "ball boy" (he was 17), let the ball go past him and then wouldn't give it back, the referee should have already been blowing his whistle and then talking to Swansea's manager. I don't blame Swansea, but the referee. He failed to control the match effectively.
We don't even try to score goals like these anymore. Only in this preseason have we seen attempts to string first time passes together to fashion attacks.
Back then we had technically skilled players also...after 2019 our idiotic management started buying " off the ball running , workrate merchants " only... didn't care about the quality ON THE ball...
yeah our team never able to play a possession football,,,, after that team like man city,,,psg always dominated our midfield,,, because of stupid management,,,,marina granovskaia and co.
This is a weird time as a chelsea fans, in summer 14 we sign fabregas and suddenly we play tiki taka for the entire season, dominating and won the league, but in next season with almost the same player, got trashed and finished 10th
