The most memorable part for me was how gracious Tony Romo was in accepting the fact that he had lost his starting position as QB. He said football was the ultimate in “meritocracy”. No one had given Dak Prescott the role of starting QB for the Dallas Cowboys. Dak Prescott had earned it.
@SavageSpiders
@SavageSpiders 2 года назад
Bro, Romo's jersey is still the only one I've ever bought. Loved what the rookies did that year. But it was bittersweet because I really wanted Romo to come back and have his final shot at a ring. At the time, Romo was definitely the better QB just based on experience. And that was showcased in the final game of that year when Dak couldn't move the ball in the couple drives he had against Philly, and Romo stepped in, walked them right down the field and capped off the drive with a perfect back shoulder fade to Terrance Williams for the TD. I really don't think most people understood how well Romo could read a defense until he started calling games. It took Dak a few years to build the skill, but as of last year before he went down it's obvious he's every bit the skilled QB Romo was, but with better durability overall, and I'd also argue better leadership skills. Romo was great, but Dak is a gem. And he's going to own all Romo's records before he's done. I just wonder which receiver is going to take the all time cowboys receiving TD record with Dak at the helm.

Biggest reason Dez is gone is because at the time Dak's accuracy needed a receiver that could run a crisp route and be plainly open like Amari. He wasn't sure enough of himself yet to pinpoint the ball consistently where Dez needed it to just go up and get it like Romo could. If Dak had the accuracy then that he does now, Dez would've still looked like he did in 2014 for at least a few more years.

I’ve always rooted for this man to get paid and continue to get better in the NFL. When everyone was saying he was nothing without a running game. When people said we should trade/cut him. I trusted what I saw and heard from this man. He’s a leader and he continued to get better after his second year. Dak may not have been the most talented, fastest, or smartest, but he worked hard and stayed true to himself. Now he’s an elite QB who came back from two ankle surgeries better than he was before. Dak continued to play hard till he was injured because he was trying to prove his worth. He didn’t want to settle for less but he knew he couldn’t hold out the way Zeke did. The emotion he let out while being carted off the field was a culmination of his determination to prove himself and lead his team to the playoffs. It hit him that he may have worked too hard and blew his opportunity. The fans stood up for him, the league stood up for him, his teammates stood up for him, and Jerry heard them and payed the man. Now his only goal is to do what he set out to do his rookie year. With Kellen Moore, Dan Quinn, and yes even Mike McCarthy, Dallas has a much better coaching staff to guide Dak through the playoffs. Who knows how far they will make it. I’m just excited to see who ends up lined up across from them Jan. 22.

I was in Hawaii with my wife on vacation when this game was played we watched the end at a bar. Pittsburgh scored late on the "Marino fake spike play" and I thought it was over. I went to the restroom and by the time I walked out Zeke was running into the end zone again. Let's get one thing correct here. This was the defining game for the Dak-Zeke team, but the Cowboys have had numerous franchise defining games all the way back to the early 1960s. By the way, the Cowboys' first win in franchise history was against the Steelers in 1961. These two have been in so many big games against each other, including three Super Bowls.

They had already won several games up to this point, I don’t think Dak thought this was one of his most important game of his life he was already doing extremely well. The O- line was sensational that year and Ezekiel was sensational too. This felt like that classic old school American game. Especially with the military theme. Cowboys VS Steelers that year was an amazing game and felt like a classic throwback to the Super Bowl days with Roger and Troy.

Omg, I still talk about that game...it was stressful and exciting at the same time...especially the last 40 or so seconds.

As a Cowboys loyal since birth in Dallas 74 it's been the small dog with the heart and fight Don Meredith from Mount Vernon TX middle of nowhere, Roger Staubach was 27 as a rookie after Navy, Troy Aikman is probably the only #1QB that ever achieved greatness in NFL the rest get lost in bad teams, Tony Romo 1-AA "East Illinois, Ohio Valley conference" first n only Walter Payton award winner in history, to small, to slow n to nice they said and Dak Prescott well you already said it!

The was also very emotional dez lost his father the same week and still wanted to play in memory of him. This game will go down as one of the best in cowboys history.

I think that this video confuses “currently popular” with “superstar”. I am a lifelong Cowboys fan and I certainly hope that Dak reaches the status of “football legend”, but he hasn’t accomplished much of anything yet. He’s had some good games and a couple of good seasons, but the success of 2016 was more about Zeke and the running game than Dak. In 2017 and 2018 when teams took Zeke away, Dak struggled mightily. It wasn’t until 2019 that Dak turned a corner and began to show the ability to carry a team with his arm. He was hurt before we could see what how much he had progressed last season. This season so far, it has been a true “pick your poison” for defenses. If they take away the run, Dak picks them apart. If they take away the passing game, Zeke and Pollard gash them with the run. To Dak’s credit, he has worked hard to become a better QB every year, and that work ethic, more than anything else, is what can catapult him to true greatness.

Dak deserves a superbowl team. I hope the boys can give him that.

I get tired of hearing how much talent we have. It’s time to put up or shut up. It’s not all on Dak but he’s gotta be the leader and QB Dallas needs to win another Championship! #DC4L 💙🇺🇸🦅🌎⚓️👍😉💪💯‼️💙
