Agree. And not just the big 3. The competition around them is insane as well. Delpotro, monfils, roddick, berdych, wawrinka, isner, tsonga, murray, cilic and so on... They were absolute beasts as well

@@potato_rv8946 I do think you could make the argument that there’s more depth in the men’s tour now than in perhaps any other era as the game grows to become more truly international and performance science advances. The top 50 is full of players that at any moment can go deep into a slam. But for raw talent on tour, as you say, and absolute stars the big 3 era will stand alone for a VERY long time, it was historic because of their dominance, and I don’t think either Sinner nor Alcaraz will be able to replicate those feats, there too many players that on a good day can match them.

The quality of his serve was: 1. Not waiting hours to play, he kept the rithm. Nice for the viewer 2. Not giving any indication on where and how he was going to serve. Most players are readable on their serve. Roger isn't.

It was just powerful enough to be a weapon, but not so powerful that it becomes a crutch. And he always got a big ace when he needed it. Win or lose, Federer had the most gorgeous game

US Open 2011, Del Potro at the US Open also, Berdych at Wimbledon - there are plenty of examples of when he went all surly and salty giving only excuses or talk about "lucky shots"! The same Fed said publicly that Nadal is "one-dimensional" and that "On clay you don't need a volley or a serve. It's too easy'". Later he learned to clench his teeth.

The Joker had them perhaps only 3/4 oder even 2/3 long. Because Fed and Nadal at the end very naturally slowly became less powerful. Fed started at 16 or 17 already on the tour. So with 34 oder 35 it is normal that you can not be on the physical peak anymore. But there always was Nadal ... and Nadal always had Fed. And Joker was always 5 years later and fresher. - Joker is a hard worker and a very good player, even with the undisputed reigning ability on the court, with a superb body, especially these days at 36/37. But Fed was above the field, a genius and a special human. - If you can argue mathematically and weigh the powers at all time, you will come to the result that Fed could have reached 30 GS w/o Nadal and Joker. - The end of Feds career makes me much more sentimental than everyones else's. I will not miss Joker that much. And Nadal, the machine, always had looked overpowering himself, so one might be sentimental but also knowing there must be an end.

The ATP Finals were fast and just like Wimbledon he lost 3 finals out of 3 there to Djokovic there and never won it beyond the age of 30..

@@huzcer another person who just started watching tennis. Tournament director have said they played slower and even said they slowed them down. Wimbledon director has said they changed the grass to have longer rallies and the the us open and Australian open directors have said they added more sand to the courts and changed balls to have longer rallies. By 2008 all courts have been slowed down. The only surface that has yet be changed is clay. But also we are seeing longer rallies and matches lasting 4hrs. This stuff is becoming common also we are seeing more serious injuries on tour. This is all because courts are slower it was rare to have a match last 4hrs. Now we are seeing become common.

It was shortlived coz the US open is a slow hard court, giving djokovic time to think and play his lobs. Fast courts federer even at 40 will beat novak. Novak would be a middling player in the 90s fast courts. Sampras, Goran even ivanisevic his coach wud hav destroyed novak in those fast courts.

First of all, the court speeds have not been slowed down that much, second, with Novak's ability to return and outplay pretty much any type of player on any type of surface, the likes of Ivanisevic, Sampras and Federer, especially on clay during any era would get beaten more frequently than some fans think. Djokovic had a poor 2010 - that wasn't his prime. In the biggest matches, tournament finals of they played 19, Federer didn't even win 1/3 of them.

@@huzcer why nitpick on details, as if a semifinal isn't a big match, or somehow 2010, at 23 years old, wasn't prime age for Djokovic while it was for anyone else? Of course in their 16-17 years of career overlap, 10-11 of those came with Federer past prime. He should have only won about 1/3 against a rough equal, but he did a bit better than that overall. He held similar records as Nole against Murray and Stan and everyone else, holding a little less than even against Novak, only getting crushed by Nadal, until Nadal was past prime.

@@coulie27 2010 was the only year since 2006 along with 2017 when Djokovic was injured that he didn't win any masters or slam. That explains it pretty clearly. At 23 in 2011 though Djokovic beat Fedal 10-1 for the year in an absolutely dominant display. Federer was a few weeks off 22 before he even made it past his first slam quarter-final in a much softer period.

It took "prime Federer" 7 whole years to get 8 wins off Nadal 2004-2010 (with 14 losses to go with). Djokovic beat Nadal who was coming off his 2010 best year ever, 7 times in a row in just 10 months from March 2011, all finals, including 3 grand slam finals and 2 masters clay finals. Perspective.
