This was beautifully expressed. You were fortunate because it happened during a moment of intense love for your wife and daughter. My experience, long ago, was somewhat perverted since I misinterpreted it. In fact, it scared the hell out of me. I was just meditating with my eyes open looking out at my garden. I sensed people moving around the edge of the garden because the sidewalk was raised and I could see the tops of their heads over the fence and hear distant talking. The thought struck me. "They aren't real. They aren't conscious. They're automatons. I'm the only one that's conscious, that's real. Whew! I immediately put it out of my mind thinking, "I can't be the one and only consciousness. That's madness!" Lightening did not strike twice as it did for you. But I still remember how different and beautiful my garden looked in those few seconds like it had an added dimension to it and I saw a flash of some reincarnational existence as well which I did not believe in at the time. Thank you for your account. When listening to a spiritual teacher, I always wait in anticipation for a description of their realization.

There is no end to unfolding no before and after. Endless revelation, some experiences are very sudden and profound others subtle. It is hubris to think you have “arrived.” This is a beautiful story of a profound experience. “My enlightenment story” all over the internet are creating false expectations and inspiring endless seeking.

Love this, Have just been "Godsmacked" myself, whilst contemplating reincarnation, and wondering what part of me remains. It hit me that no part of "me" remains, i felt an existential fear rise in me as i suddenly realized that i Don't exist. And on the other side of the fear was the truth of what i always have and always will be. So good to hear someone elses experience of the same.

Yes, quite agree that this charecter is nothing but a collection of phenomena being played, just like water seen in the mirage. Sometimes the moon too appears during the day but so dimmed out by the Sun light that it is no more of interest, who cares. Thank you.

This is really helpful and interesting - although my mind can't follow into every level of this description. What I find irritating is the music in the background: The hammering crescendo of the piano doesn't sit well with me.
