It’s not the hunk of metal you are tearing up about it’s the memories you had made in that hunk of metal.

In the 15 years I have enjoyed RU-vid, out of all the videos I’ve watched, channels I have followed, this is the FIRST time I have ever been moved to leave a comment or “like” anything. But I’ve enjoyed watching your channel now for 4 years, and I have so enjoyed everything you vlog about. More than anything it’s the amount of heart that goes into everything you do is what draws me to every vlog. Thank you Adam for giving as much as you do to everything you do! Keep them coming!

It’s funny how we as humans assign so much meaning to inanimate objects. Cars, toys, books, video games... They are the keepers of our memories. We look at them and think of the fun and happy times we had with them. In the case of the van, it’s even more special because it helped to significantly change your life for the better and was your partner during that time. That was it’s mission. I hope that it’s helping to change someone else’s life now.

Adam, these past few videos have really brought you closer to your fans. You have never been distant, fake etc.... but we usually have content to watch of a place, a film location etc. But breaking these videos down and seeing the real emotion behind them and the back stories really bring home just how real you are as a person. This channel may, of had twice as many subs by now if you had chosen to be click baity and fake etc..... but what always appealed to me about you from very early on was your straight forward approach.... you took some basic concepts, added a little woo humour and interest and made them so watchable............. im still laughing in the back of my head about the bike one from the other day. I remember when I joined the channel you had just started to sleep in the van and were showing us the viewers some of the places you went to to keep clean, eat and use wifi etc. Then the road trips began, and epicness continued for 5 years of continuous fun and laughter, much from that van. SO no wonder you were emotional. I don't look at the selling of the van as a mistake, I think as you said it was part of the evolution of you and the channel. However, I think maybe a trade up to large Marge may of been the better option back then...... but we are where we are, an from where I am sitting, with the Mr Woo and his content, we are all in a great place. Stay safe and keep doing what you do Mr Woo.

Oh it's not crazy to "get attched" to a van. I loved my Ford minivan. I'm now looking at a Ford transit van. I love vans because their so versatile! Not just for camping, but for hauling cargo, and just traveling around. I've considered them a den/workshop/studio/observatory etc. on wheels! Especially when the seats are easily removed. So much room! Take care luv.💐 Great video Adam. Keep them coming & I will keep watching. 😁

When I was about 7 my dad sold his Datsun Z. He cried when the new owner drove it out of our driveway and down the street. I didn't understand why. But he bought that car himself to move himself into his college dorm room after he moved out of his parents house as a teenager and then to move into a house as a married man with my mom and then they brought me home from the hospital in it. I get it. I understand how you can be so attached to a car. I've never had a car that I have been that connected to. But I understand.

I hear you Adam, loud and clear...I owned the first year (1995) dodge neon and had it for 18 years. Then I started to have kids and it became too small for me to utilize...also at the same time it started to break down with the kids in the car and then I knew it was time to sell it to CarMax and trade it up for a SUV. So many times I was asked why I never got a newer car beforehand, but why would I? It was paid off, looked brand new for a 1995 and just got a few paint jobs. It carried all my friends, family, boyfriends, been to many places and clocked in a 120,000 miles. I know the emotional aspect of having something like your van. But I’m lucky as I have no regrets and knew it was time to move on in another stage of my life. 👍🏻

I remember being shocked that you were selling the van, and when you got emotional I bawled too. My Mom had just died in June of that year, and she left her 3 year old VW Passat to me. She bought it after a crazy amount of research because it was the safest vehicle she could afford to travel with my young daughter on adventures. She ended up hating it, and she would dream about her Chevy Monte Carlo (which she traded in) in her final days of dying from cancer 😔 My daughter and I have been on many wonderful adventures in the VW since, and I find myself so very grateful for the gift of this dependable car. I grew up on the dragstrip and in a shop where my Dad built movie cars and many hot rods. Cars are our family members 😊💚💜💕

This “hunk of metal” propelled you to where you are today. You turned an anchor into wings and you soared. You came to not only rely on it for safety and comfort but to get you out of a negative, stressful situation and to hopefully provide you with a better life which it seemed to do. There is no shame in showing emotion for something like this. I think I would’ve had a hard time getting rid of it too.

I remember the day that I saw this vlog. It was I believe after a good day at college working at Algebra, and it was pretty somber that an essential part of what made the Woo was going to leave us the viewers to drive into the sunset with a new owner. But, here came Large Marge. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Adam.

Adam, been there, done that.... TWICE...but the vehicle was a single-engine airplane. My father taught me to fly in a 1972 Cessna 150 back in '79, and we had that bird 6 years. Dad sold it for a four-passenger Beechcraft. Five years later we found that '72 Cessna 150 some 75 miles away - for sale! Dad bought it.... again! Sold the Beechcraft sometime later. 10 years later he turned the Cessna over to me in 2000, and I had it for 17 years. So many fond memories!! Sold it in 2017 to get a four-place Beechcraft (here we go....father like son). Not as fun or necessary as what once thought (just like Dad and I found out some 27 years earlier!!). "Hello, McFly!!!" I sold that Beechcraft last September. My old lovable Cessna is in Santa Paula, California now....some 65 miles from where I learned to fly. I miss that thing like you miss that van. The fondest memories of flying was in THAT plane, not in the faster and larger ones! So when you started to get emotional, boy I connected! So... mistake made twice. Maybe I will learn... someday... that blessings and fulfillment is sometimes right there in front of me.

But something better happened i met you in Disneyland. I wish we could've chatted longer. Speaking of chatting you owe me a Chat. In a mail time vlog you shouted me out and said we should meet up sometime seeing how i LIVE 30 minutes away from you. I would also LIKE to say Thank you again! For mailing me stickers. I remember that day too and it was sad . 😥 I understand how that feels to get rid of things that you are so attached to . I remember moving out of my house where I raised my baby's for 13 years and when I walked out of that house and I locked the door .... I set on the front porch and cried like a baby . 😥 I really didn't want to leave . There were so many good members there . My daughter's grandmother in law owns it now and they recently were cleaning it up again to rent it out to someone else . I asked my daughter if I could go in it one more time before they rented it out again, but it didn't happen . That was just last week . My daughter even told me , when she went into the house she teared up too and all of those wonderful memories came flooding back . I like my house where we live now , but not as much as I did that house . Don't feel bad Adam , I have had a van and cars that I felt the same way about when I sold them . We get so attached to them . It is just good memories......!!! My favorite memory was when you took us down this haunted dirt road in your van and it was a live stream too . I laughed so hard and you made that night so fun !! 😂 Maybe , You can do that with us again one night ? I'd love that !! ❤

This has been very cool hanging out with you and watching your past videos. I can relate to getting emotional over a vehicle. I bought my old van for $3k back in early 2014 as something I expected to only last me a year or so. It’s still going today! There came a point, recently, where I was met with the option of selling it. Those very same emotions came into play and I decided to keep it. It’s old, quirky, and I get the occasional weird look from certain people but I love that thing. It has now been with me longer than any other vehicle and carries a ton of memories. If you care to hear it, I’d say get another van. It’s not too big for the city and will save you air travel and hotel expenses on the occasional “Woo-cation” trip. It would even give you the opportunity to dip back into the old style of videos with new content.

I have never commented on your channel before even though I have been watching you for almost 10 years. I thought it was time to show my appreciation for you and your channel by saying I "shall join you" vicariously as you travel from place to place and get into adventures. I have spent considerable time on the road as a contractor for telecom companies and loved the thrill of finding a new place or traveling a road I have never been on before. I can appreciate your attachment to your van. I have taken several vehicles to 200 thousand miles and beyond so I know that it can be emotional. We know it is only a means to an end and yet we infuse so much of ourselves into it that it seems to take on an importance beyond a simple tool. I would say this though - I believe you sold your van at the right time. The sale allowed you to move on to new horizons and take you places the van could not. Also, at 200K miles, the van was about to start giving you a plethora of mechanical issues which would have left you with very different memories of your cherished van. You let it go at the right time, so don't look back. I will continue to watch and join your content --- shall I?

Although Im really camera shy, you inspired me to upload a few videos to my own themed RU-vid channels. I celebrated you living in it at the start of your daily vlogs. When you sold it for a smaller vehicle and started flying everywhere, I was literally scratching my head "wtf?? -- he's saved tons of money with that Van, and inspired a nation of vloggers , and now he's spending it on airfare." Then eventually soon a celebratory thought hit me and i realized this was your way of showing how successful you've become on RU-vid. Adam, What you now see as a mistake, know that you inspired me and many many many other people to copy you. Nothing's ever done by mistake--- you started a movement of Van dwellers by inspiring people to live in their Vans and make videos. Adam your van and RV inspired the Tiny house movement that's now HUGELY popular today. No one made videos like those until you did them. What was a mistake to you inspired the world. Don't ever regret any decision you make. You're a trailblazer!

Dude, time flies. I can't believe it's been four years already. All those years you hauled yourself around the country. You should have named it Van Haulin haha. Speaking of polar pop, do you remember polar cup in Florida in the early 90s?

That van was like another character in your videos. I hope it's out there serving someone else well as it did you!

Dang Adam! Good memories! That had to be pretty emotional to watch! The van was a character in your everyday life! It’s almost like Micky without Walt! Imagine the video if you tracked down the van through a vin search bought it back resurrected the old girl and hit the road. If you were Doc Brown it was your Delorean! I’m a mechanic I’ve seen those vans go 500,000 miles no problem! You had 200k which is mostly highway so it’s really like a lot less compared to city. This video series is amazing! The nostalgia is great! Even if you got a different van that video series seeing you putting the buttons back up and big the foot getting into his position and the mirror being installed and hitting the open road on the great American ATW around the US in 80 days circle road trip! Haha I’m dreaming but how fun would that be! You back on the road with your good buddy the Woo Van!

It's not the metal, but the moment, that made you teary eyed, Adam. Totally understandable.

👏Adam loved the video! I think I’ve been following you since 2015? Maybe before. It’s when you have the rock song opening your vids and and you were exploring abandoned places. Hope you are all good and well🌞☺️😎

It's how I was when my grandparents while they were with us, decided to sell their home to move into a community. Just so many memories from growing up Christmas's, thanksgivings, the time I had lived there. So many memories, to me were being sold away....but yes your right it's an inanimate object lol. Memories will always remain

I loved your raw emotion in the original video but especially in you watched this again. I remember this video and at the time I understood you could fly to locations but the “why?” was big in my heart? Regrets are needed or you will repeat kindred mistakes...impulse decisions are NOT always bad but... I love you, Adam🥰😎

I remember this video very well. Back then I had sold a truck of mine about 2 years previous to this, I can certainly relate to how you felt about selling your van. The truck I sold was my first real expensive vehicle and it was tough seeing it go, I still remember seeing it drive away the day I sold it and I still think about to this day.

Adam I know of one of these Van's with 1 million and 300 thousand miles. Trans recently went out. Been fixed and rolling again doing a nightly courier route! So chances are she's still rolling along! Same make and model!

Not surprising that you felt emotional. That van was your freedom, your home and your inspiration. My dad had a Ford Capri in Daytona yellow when I was a kid. That car to me wasn't just a hunk of metal and cloth but a living, breathing thing. It was friendly and welcoming and took us on many adventures. Besides that it reminded me at the time of the Starsky and Hutch car (I had a bit of a thing for Starsky!). I was so upset when he sold it. Couldn't stop myself from hating his next car!

I was always curious about who’d bought your van. I had watched your video about it originally. I think you were right for saying it was a mistake to sell it. I think you should get another van. Maybe a bigger one with more room for your travels.

As a newer viewer (about a year), it's been great to see your view on your older catalogue. It's interesting to see how your style has evolved over time too. I'm glad I happened upon your channel and have thus discovered some other gems (Justin, Fresh Baked, BLAB...). Keep on keepin' on, Mr. Woo :)
