@@12dougreed And...it was laughable. That wouldn't happen. If gunshots were able to knock someone backward and up into the air, they'd also knock the shooter backward with the same force in the opposite direction. When people are shot, even with a submachinegun, they crumple and drop...often continuing forward a ways if they were moving at the time.
the Jackal can never decide which eye he is going to look through the telescopic sight of his rifle, he does the same thing in an earlier scene when he is testing the rifle , he changes from one eye to another......but I would have thought if you have calibrated the telescopic sight with one eye, then you have to use the same eye every time you take aim....otherwise the aim will be off.
Very well made film without over using dramatic effects except the one little flaw as i see it. the machine gun packs a wallop and would force him backwards and maybe push the body somewhat but it lifts him almost to the ceiling! Okay not a big deal but overall one of the most thrilling and smart movies ever.
The Jackal's mistake was opening that window way too soon. I often wonder how he would have gotten away from that building if he had succeeded in killing or wounding DeGaulle. I'm sure that the whole street would have been closed off and everyone searched. His best chance would have been to put on his disguise of a wounded veteran and got rid of the rifle and hoped to have escaped in all the confusion.
IF he made that shot our history would have had to be rewritten. This is at least partialy based on historical fact. De Gaulle lived until 1970. One can not change history just for the sake of a movie.
The Jackals only mistake was to try to reload. It's more than likely he could have rushed at the inspector and over powered him. Having proved through out the movie in at least 3 instances he could kill with his hands in seconds.
Well, he'd have probably won, but the other necessary kills, were by surprise, he'd have been involved in an brawl against an opponent, and he couldn't have been assured he'd win. Military men, probably would always go for the reload and fire, its the safest way.
He was already holding a weapon, and he had to make a lightning-quick decision („reload or rush on him?”) - it turned out this time it was a bad one. Sh** happens.
Great movie. Silent but thrilling. Miles better than the 90s jackal. But it didnt explain how did the inspector manage to know which block or rooftop did the jackal was hiding
Le pregunta a un gendarme que estaba en el desfile si había dejado pasar a alguien y le dice a un anciano con muletas. Van al edificio que ha entrado y ve desde la calle una ventana abierta desde donde está disparando al general de gaulle.
Spoiler ending of 1973's Day of the Jackal, based on Frederick Forsyth's 1971 novel. Fiction based on fact; attempted assassination of da Gualle. It was a "lone assassin", however he was hired by a far right faction of the French Military. 2:28 Back and to the left
@@OldGrayCzechWolfHave you ever seen a real spy? Tony Mendes looks nothing like James Bond (nor does he look like Ben Affleck, who played him in 2012’s Argo).
Well, since he's already been dead for decades, why not wish for something a little more realistic? Even Peter Pan finally accepted his...ack...ack.(dies)...
Too bad this video omits numerous important bits of information: 1. At Pearl Harbor, Miller was credited for downing one Japanese plane, eyewitnesses have said the number was actually 4 - 6 planes. He did all of this after getting wounded sailors to safety. 2. He was nominated for the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions, but the Secretary of War was an outspoken racist, and refused the nomination. 3. And most tragically, this video leaves out that he was KIA in 1943.
My wife was very upset at the end of the movie... She said that the whole movie was pointless because the Jackal won. He managed to arrive to and disappear in Paris. He was eliminated due to a series of unbelievable coincidences, which spoiled and degraded the entire story. It was like last 10 minutes were copy/pasted from another movie. Still: great cinema.
Black people have been in France for centuries, and France had plenty of territories in Africa in the 1800s and 1900s. It's more than reasonable for black and Arab people to be in France.
Fiction: Meticulous planning with a custom rifle foiled because he uses his one shot to kill the redshirt instead of the protagonist. Reality: Spam limo with surplus rifle, kills cop with repeating backup weapon, captured alive, killed before trial to stop his talking.
