In this case the State alleges that the records were falsified in conjunction with State & Federal election & tax law violations.

@bobagorof Actually, the Grand Jury (not every state has one) determines if their appears to be enough evidence to go to trial or not. The DA can do and say whatever he/she wants during the Secret proceeding. If you are in custody, you may be offered an opportunity to appear, but you have to wave your 5th amendment rights to do so. So it usually isn't advisable. The oroceeding is extremely one-sided, and the defendant can't produce exculpatory evidence or witnesses on his/her behalf. The bottom line is that a DA can indict a ham sandwich because Jurers don't know their rights, they are not fully instructed about their rights, or they are wrongfully instructed about their rights. If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

Mainly playing golf and occasionally meeting some big donors at his country club. His 'campaigning' consists mainly of press conferences outside the court room where he complains that he is not allowed to open his mouth. One could conclude that he uses his trial dates as mere excuses to avoid going on the campaign trail because he prefers to keep on his lazy backside at his resort.

If you don’t enjoy watching Trump pull his shenanigans with multiple jurisdictions-civil, several states, DC, federal, and of course his favorite court of public opinion-then maybe pick a politician who doesn’t commit so many crimes. The Trumps have been shady starting two generations before Don, he has followed in daddy’s footsteps and added extra flair. Not sure what you’re so twisted about; Trump has successfully delayed his criminal trials so the American people will be lied to once again before another election. When a person tells you everyone is cheating, and everyone has vendettas against him… it usually indicates this person is projecting their own behaviors and inclinations. I get the argument, even though I don't agree, that the voters should have the possibility to vote for or against Trump in the presidential election. (That argument is actually factually wrong because even if convicted, he can still run for president; in theory he could even run out of prison.) But this is independent from whether the trial is important. The trial is important regardless of Trump's renewed attempt at the presidency. He's on trial because it is alleged that he committed crimes, not because he's running for president again. Dropping the trial because he is running again would be a perversion of the justice system.
