Stiv Bators was at least as old as Iggy Pop or some of the guys in Aerosmith, and he looked like a TEENAGER in 1977! No one could ever accuse him of being an old fart trying to be a young punk until the day he died!
Nah spoiled Rich boy pissed at his parents who didn't approve of his career choice He's a bloated hopeless alcoholic wreck Shocking Saw him in 2009..they played CBGBS sans Stiv ..of course
I knew Jimmy Zero in the 80s . he hung out and worked for movie memorabilia at The Last Moving Picture Co. In Cleveland. Huge collector of horror sci fi of 50s and 60s..and of course Alison Hayes. The only person I knew who would take a day off of work to watch "From Hell it Came" I managed the store. Great memories.
CBGB's was a rat hole that got lucky, hilly let the place goto shit n made $$$$ init, but he did help launch the bands He liked...I miss the smell...more lore than was glitz..got posted out too....n skins hit the scene.
Please what a joke Hillys daughter was a 300lb. Bleached blonde whiney IM GONNA TELL MY DAD ON YOU to ( 4 example) Dee Dee Ramone because he was caught in the kitchen stealing eating food laughing GOOD! TELL DADDY! I hated how the portrayed Debbie Harry Made he seem dumb and what a lousy wig on that actress who looked nothing like her..we all hated it
Is too much of problem then to say " Iggy Pop"......?....Pop is by now a well recognised godfather of 'punk' and anything extreme musicwise..... Apart from talking to morons about "ikky" ...talking to any other sensible soul about "Iggy" ,you sure won't have to worry they will confuse it with a certain "azalea" you just mentioned....Unlike that other "ikky" , Iggy Pop will be remembered on this planet long after "ikky azalea" is dead and cremated.....
i was surprised at how calm they are when they arent on stage! i thought they were all gonna be really arrogant and stroppy but it was the complete opposite
Nice Honest American Boys,....Dead Boys. These guys are so well spoken,..very deep for what they are performing,.that unbridled angst and exasperation,...deep thoughts for what at the time transmitted as so believeable,..insulated from that reality by my junkie pals who would go to see them while I was mesmerized elsewhere by Chosei, Stu, Wes, Richie, and Wendy, of the Plasmatics...(Wendy was the only thing in my eyes....nothing else mattered to me) So for all these years I never knew their inner Dead Boy reality. That is the most I have ever learned form You-Tube....other than changing the headlight on my car.
A friend of mine knew Cheetah Crome from the NY scene. I got to hang out with him one time around 1981 when he was do his solo thing. Nice guy but I couldn't understand most of what he said.He was laughing alot exactly like in this video. Those days were fun.
These guys are making the exact same points about energy, aggression and destruction as Radio Birdman are in their interview from the same year. Actually the two bands have very similar personalities through the interviews
JImmy threw around a lot of attitude back inthe day actually but he still commanded and won respect from the kids, including me. It was also annoying that he refused to call him "Stiv". He ALWAYS called him "Steve" (his real name).
It's funny how the movies make punk bands look like assholes , always acting "punk rock" haha. Most punks are just regular nice people, typically higher than average intelligence, we just don't cope well in normal society, which I think makes us the normal ones
What the fuck (or what band) does Stiv say after "I like more early Stones, you know?" ?? ("________, they were good. And uh.. I don't know..") it's @4:09.
back in the 90s when I played in my band CFD and we were punk / thrash , but I used to love playing the clubs but I always wanted to try a big fest in front of like 5000 people to see what its like . Im sure I would've been really fuckin stoked . but to bad everybody went their own way when things were starting to open up . we had a manager that was trying to get us to go to europe because he really felt that we would've been really big over there and most likely got signed to a label . I guess that kinda intimidated 4 16 year old kids but I really was down for it but the other guys obviously werent and I was really pissed at them for that and unfortunately they all died early and I love them all with all my heart because they were brothers to me . it sucks
