I love that in these military-driven shows, the hosts always have the most American names. Will Willis, Jon Johnson, Neal Powers, Max Hollywood, Chuck Stone, etc. They are never called "Reinaldo Rodriguez Hernandez", for whatever reason.
Now, how about a show. That Shows how civilians can take out tanks and such WITHOUT RPGS, MILITARY ORDINANCE and such! Dont restict yourself to just US tanks and such! Basically, guerilla fighting if we were invaded and what they did in history!
Yeah i think its an all together suspicious design. Its like those Russian soldiers at Stalingrad being handed a riffle and no ammo and when they asked what to do when they ran out, they told them not to worry about it. Then they see the next guy in line being handed just a magazine...
A shaped charge forms a plastic deformation of the cone which happens so fast it never melts until after impact. Swedish Disarmament Commision back in the late 1960's published X-ray images of the formation of the jet at 1/40,000 of second intervals across an airgap then penetrating thick armor. I found printed film copies of the images in the Mid-seventies at the Federal depository at the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle Library.
I first thought that as well, but then I remembered the incident with the RU-vid channel Ballistic High Speed where the RPG exploded in his hands while he was attempting to fire. RPGs are no joke. These weapons are as dangerous to its users as it is to its targets.
the Singapore armed forces infantry units have been using CG84RR since the mid 1980s. - its not new technology - except for the laser sights and improved munitions
@@rayzor8268 okay, I wasn’t talking about the Singapore armed forces, but good for them I guess. Lol What is it with country’s that have nice people living in there like Sweden and Singapore having such huge firepower?
@@justrandompeople2157 He talks about it on the Unsubscribe Podcast episode 136 somewhere on RU-vid. It's amazing that he's still around. Kentucky Ballistics guy too. Phew.
Every time I see this episode it reminds me that TV experts are not... I'm a bazooka expert, but I have the screen installed backwards... 17:30 and then they fake fire it.
A) First antitank weapon was german Tankgewehr of wwl B) Panzerschreck warhead was constructed as improvement of unsuccessfull rocket launcher Puppchen. C) First AA rocket manpad was unsuccessfull german Fliegerfaust of wwll.
Probably worst military tech vid I've seen in a while, show host is so over the top, editing is just way to dramatic like it's 2005. Worst part is that the Producers couldn't even get the weapons right. STINGER IS NOT ANTI TANK. This is ANTI documentary, feel like they tried to make you dumber by watching this
I wouldn't use the M72 LAW. I'd want something that can be reloaded and re used. During the Vietnam war, I heard that the Vietcong used discarded LAW tubes for booby traps, fill them with several Grenades.
@@markusbalbach7608 Yes, I see that in this show. But 'Merica' didn't invent everything, or rescue Europe from fascism single-handedly. I saw a U.S. political pundit, just the other day, spout that idea that the U.S.A. rescued Europe, yet again, in WWII. I actually knew British ex-servicemen who would argue that we were fighting and dying for years before the Yanks joined in. Just saying - there's a bigger picture.
@@markusbalbach7608 Ah Edison, everyone's favourite 'arch appropriator'. I'm surprised he didn't claim to have invented air (if it meant a copyright and profits)..
@@kskeel1124 Im aware of that, but the whole section they were talking about the AT4 they kept showing the SMAW. Im all about the backblast area, I was a SMAW gunner from 94-98.
I did my service 90-91....ATGW unit armed with the first batch of the Swedish BILL. We rode the BV-206 up in the Arctic, beautiful vehicle, absolutely amazing to move around in. In our squad as support weapons we had a medium MG, ksp 58....and a Carl Gustaf.....plus the BILL system AND our personal weapons.... Yeah i can relate to carry that steel pipe around, brother😂👍
Just love the Swedish weapons and in particular the 40mm Bofors that we had on our ships during WWII. The technology back then was amazing for the time. I believe there was the Oerlikon 20mm and the Hispano-Suiza 20. AAA was so critical, especially in the Pacific. The development of weapons was so fast and mind boggling. I believe the Panzerschrek was better than the Bazooka. The modern battlefield is extremely dangerous. With micro drones acting as spotters, it is unlimited what could be accomplished today. I believe that technology is going to have to lean towards Cloaking or Thermal Camo. Whoever can make a soldier and/or equipment invisible will control the battle space. Air Power is still supreme and I'm glad that we have not neglected that.
Did u listen to what he said Jn the rp is used for taking out aircraft and the us anti tank weapon can be used but not for faster targets so that why they develop the stinger man portable weapon.
Imagine testing antitank weapons and having to stand there uhhing and ahhing over a piece of splintered cardboard. A freaking 16th century cannon ball could have done that. Next time shell out for a used car you cheapskate🤣
Some people in Finland live in fear that Russia would invade us. Now in NATO, the risk has declined, at least on my opinition. Finland have had similar heavy bazookas for years but re-chargable. Lighter single-use unti-tank "kerta-sinko" as well. But this Swedish engineered prodigy weapon looks amazing.
I remember reading of a 1980s W.German-made rpg launcher also named Panzerfaust. It looks like an RPG-7, but shorter & handier, with a round that reminds of the ww2 British PIAT. Do you have any information on it ? Thank you.
The now incredibly old 95 S 58-61 and far newer French single-use RAC 112 APILAS which gives you a concussion when you fire it. The light single-use one you talk about is the M72 LAW mentioned in the video, Finns just have their own name for it. Same with NLAW, TOW and Spike: Finns just have different names for them.
The PIAT ? The British projector could be safely fired from indoors, and kill any tank with a square hit. Near 450,000 built during WW 2. This show is for entertainment purpose , please do not write a term paper on this show alone.
Well, it is true that the M1 Bazooka, with its 60MM warhead, wasn't that great against heavy tanks. However, the M9A1 (M20) Super Bazooka introduced in 1944, was upgraded to a 89MM warhead which was much more capable of knocking out Tiger and Panther tanks.
How many RPGs? Not many. The first "RPG" was the RPG-2 in 1954. But if you mean rockets in general, the first rockets used in warfare was in the 13th century (960 - 1279 AD) by the Song Dynasty in China.
With better diplomatic effort by the West towards the ex-USSR and later Russia, this could be entirely avoided. I served in the NVA (East German army) and became a FRG citizen due to the reunification I still already as early as 1991 felt uncomfortable how the West treated Russia not willing to take their stretched-out hand seriously. As a tank commander (last rank lieutenant) I deregistered in the same year because of my bad gut-feeling. Unfortunately my gut feeling was right. Do not get me wrong, I do condemn the Russian attack on the Ukraine. But the pre-history to these events must be considered too. PS: Most of my East-German fellows view all this in the same way, independent of their educational achievements. We shared our lives before reunion for more than 40 years, so we are very experienced with the Red Army (our military comrade soldiers and their civil families), which was never as bad as the Western propaganda loves to draw its picture. Russians are very hospitable (similar to the folks in the US), supportive and helpful, friendly, good mannered and educated - and peace loving (WW2 is still a very big trauma to the Russian population). We in East-Germany finally developed a nice relationship (similar to the US-troops in West-Germany) with our Soviet (barracked) neighbours. But all our advice and complaints (about the treatment of Russia before this senseless war of brothers) towards the leadership of Germany, the EU and NATO was ignored or even brushed aside. There is even a large political witch-hunt in Germany towards ex-politicians who were trying to establish a good relationship with Russia and its leaders (ex-chancellors Merkel, Schröder and many others). Unbelievable! We as the West need to restart a serious diplomatic initiative right now to avoid a gigantic disaster. I won't be easy since so much trust on both sides had been destroyed but there is no other way. Peace! from Dresden / Germany
Most countries have a similar system, with most countries either using the Stinger or a similar Soviet designed system like Igla and Strela. Whatever "bad guy" you're referring to lilely already has a comparable system to use.
It really depends on what warhead the RPG-7is firing. Older PG-7V (the original rocket the RPG-7 was designed to fire) can only penetrate ~260mm RHA, while the M136/AT4 can penetrate ~420mm RHA. But they are not really comparable systems anyways, as the RPG-7 is reloadable, but as you already implied, it is comparable to systems like the RPG-18, RPG-26, etc.
oh cmon guys...BEFORE Munroe (who only observed things and slightly changed shape of explosives) ther was 2 guys Misney and Scharding, who discovered that particular effect on explosive charges... Munroe...lol ALSO the Bazooka wasnt the FIRST shoulder fired anti tank round!!!
1949??? That's over 30 years after the first Bazooka type weapon was invented by Dr. Godard and friend in 1918+-? We made tens of thousands of them in WW-II long before the RPG-2 was invented! How about getting your facts straight and giving credit where it's due?

Heh.. I keep forgetting to get me some Saab Dynamics shares.. Prior to the world going topsy turvy a few years back it was a big nono to talk about or have anything to do with our weapons industry. 🇸🇪 - lol now its all over and everyone seem happy about it.
The presenters perceived arrogance may get him into trouble one day you can see him fire the bazooka before he is given the OK from the loader! Should he do that in real world situations he could possibly injure or even kill someone, sure he probably is this way for the “Hollywood” or theatrical effect but it’s not good practice!
The filming on this is so weird compared to modern standards. In fact the explosions look fake. I don't know if they are or not but with the angles and the way it's filmed you can't tell. It's jarring because this is very old-school type filming where they did the the cuts so fake results could be inserted.
Look at the last segment to see a real warhead explode on a car. The Charly-G is more powerful than the RPG-7! Comp the two film clips and see the difference between the fake effect from the pre-loaded car blowing up with what is the weaker of the two weapons. PS. the rocket never should have fired because the hammer hits a percussion cap on the side of the rocket and the rocket had to be all the way in and indexed so the primer can be hit by the hammer! I call BS on the entire RPG-7 segment!
I can't stand how everyone of these "documentaries" are formatted to eat up half the time with the host firing the weapon in question at used cars. Teach me something not show me some reality-tv-esque BS reality tv ruined the history channel this has their stink all over it.
@@bob_the_bomb4508 If you carry it on your back especially if you have backpack its not the worst. Biggest problem with it when you have to make quick manuevers especially in forests. No matter how good is your physique, you will get gassed.
In real war in ukraine, drones are basic weapon against the armors. Most of battles are in trenches and mine fields. Small towns are bombed to the ground. If drone version of RPG.
Why do they always have to scream or whatever they are doing while doing voice over? Talk normally like done on site (besides the part where they are screaming at each other with hearing protection on).
those are some of the worst fake explosions. These wepons do not throw fire balls like you portray them too and all the AT rounds definitely dont waste energy for big fire balls for tv. The rockets were travelling on a wire and yall didn't even try to make it look realistic
0:34 there is a new competition...1 sec later, shows a stinger which is short range surface to air missile...which can not lock on ground targets. you sure u are a ranger and not a rookie ?
I fired the LAW (light anti-tank weapon) many times in my training in the army. I carried one in VN but never had the chance to use it. It was mostly used against bunkers and was an effective disposable weapon. You could hit a APC size target at 100-150 yards consistently. We would carry (one per soldier) a total of two in each squad.
No Malyutka.? Before all these modern laser guided missile systems there was Malyutka. It decimated Israeli tanks back in 1973. In total, Malyutkas knocked out more than 800 Israeli tanks and other combat vehicles during the war.
No. RPG originally meant ‘hand held anti tank weapon’. The RPG43 is a hand grenade, for example. The Panzerfaust is a disposable projected grenade. The RPG 2 is similar to the Panzerfaust but isn’t disposable.
The LAW weighs 7.9 lb (3.6 kg) the AT4/M136 is nearly double at 14.8 lb (6.7 kg) or 18 lb (8 kg) for the AT4-CS (Confined Spaces) version. So, 2 or 3 LAWs depending on the version of the AT4.
