8 January 2014: As part of the Legatum Institute's current Salon Series, 'Prosperity on the Edge: 1913-14 The Last Year of Peace', former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams delivered a lecture on historian Adolf von Harnack's influence at the time, as well as the way in which post-war thought was shaped by the reaction against his view of liberal religion. Would have to travel some distance to hear as eloquent an Intro as delivered by HYWEL WILLIAMS. But if Madame Corona has her silver linings, depriving Cambridge audiences of R W in his final spell here, is emphatically not one of them.

"...as well as the way in which post-war thought was shaped by the reaction against his view of liberal religion." What does that even mean? Can't you simplify?

It means: Lots of people didn't like what he said, and they reacted against his thought. The way they reacted had a lot of effects on the way people who thought about religion.

I don't know what they mean. I think it could mean the change in German theology: Harnack's former student, the Swiss theologian Karl Barth, reacted during WW1 against Harnack's liberal theology and wrote his epoch-making Der Römerbrief (Epistle to the Romans). His thoughts were called neo-orthodoxy and meant for much of German Protestant theology a turn away from liberal theology.

Hi Brethren, In Jesus, we have One Fold, Church of God headed by One Shepherd, Christ Jesus. But this man belongs to Church of England headed by Queen, the head of Mammon in the defence of this Faith in Mammon soldiers who died during fighting for secular kingdom of Queen were said to have glorified God. Such a person, who heads this Church of Satan cannot know loving God as displayed by Brother William Both who declared the soldiers died for King and country. They hated him as the Temple Priests hated Jesus. More in my Videos.
