@@aneelahuja1212 when you look through the pantheon as to motivations to why many of superman's villains are his villains, his is one of the weakest. Superman isn't stopping him from conquering the world, the galaxy, he isn't stopping him from revenge. He simply wishes to prove that superman isn't a god, and that humans can be just as great (shown by his own insecurity caused by superman) He always came off more like a rival with his motivation, rather than a true evil that superman had to take down. That being the case, it's nice to see growth on the characters beyond him just being a villain all the time, as even in many of his more corrupt iterations, he still usually cares about humanity, which in the end put him and superman on the same side.

The way how I see it, Lex Luthor does not hate humanity. We see this in the Injustivce universe. He actively tries to defeat Superman to save humanity. So if humanity is at risk, Lex Luthor will do what he needs to do to save them. To him, killing a few million people to save billions is a worthy sacrifice. To superman, he wants to save every last human he can
