Oh, dear Shannon. I am so, so saddened to realize that you died so long ago. We were born just 5 months apart, yet you were so much more accomplished than I will ever be. You were a superstar with an amazing song and a wonderful album. I have loved that song from the first time I heard it and continue to enjoy it to this day in 2023. I wish you were here to see the impact just that one song has had on so many lives. I hope you know anyway. I am simply a healthcare worker, striving to make people's lives better. Sadly, I tend to see the same sort of people making the same wrong health decisions. However, your song "No Rain" makes so much sense to me. Thank you

Yes it was heart attack brought on by cocaine...he had been clean and with the new baby and album only month apart he again went to rehab and Nico Blue born in July 95. His long time gf from high school Lisa and Nico went on first few dates with support the new album Soup ironically was recorded in New Orleans only few months before shannon had said he did not remember even recording the album he was so high drugs are very easy to get in the big easy New Orleans...anyway as I said baby and gf go with blind melon and the other guys brought their ladies also first few shows of soup tour and was with them couple weeks I think and then they get to L.A. babu nico and Lisa go back home to Lafayette this is when shannon buys cocaine reportedly from Layne Stayley at a motel both bands was staying at...he relapses soon as he drops off gf and baby he's like woo-hoo party time..gets huge ball coke the other band members was not happy they even hired a huge fat dude to keep eye on shannon to make sure he didn't get drugs and it didn't work out as shannon was not a guy who took orders n shit from anyone he was a total badass!!! I mean that in everyway he was a black belt by age 9 was champion wrestler and football player and held records in pole vaulting and didn't start trouble but he sure finish it he dropped huge dudes fast countless times...I know we from same town Lafayette lol anyway councilor was fired shannon doing dope in front of him to spite him so he was let.go and only week or so later he died in New Orleans he got more coke from someone outside numbers club in Houston night b4 and had bad show they said he was high sweating badly and even had been hitting his teeth on the mic that night he stay up all night doing some Bolivian flake he got in Houston and if u watch the ALL I can say documentary it shows shannon maybe 1030 AM in his motel room in New Orleans on phone with his gf and he didn't appear to me to be a guy who would be dead 2 hrs later but apparently after the phone call he leaves the room wanders the streets in the French quarter a while nobody knows for sure where he went or what he did other than they find him dead in Christopher's bunk on the tour bus around 130PM and that's taboo they said nobody ever got in a other guys bunk on the bus so my theory is he maybe felt this heart attack coming on because he said to had his feet hanging off tbe bunk and I think he had tachycardia elevated heart rate jumped into the bunk trying to calm down and died right there his tolerance level had dropped since only been out rehab shortly b4 had he not went to rehab he likely wouldn't have died atleast that day it happens all the time ppl go off drugs then tolerance goes back down they binge on drugs cuz they haven't had any for while and their tolerance and body can't take tbe overload it's exactly what happened to shannon I believe 100% anyway just wanted to tell what I know RIP Shannon I only live less than mile from where he is buried but it's sad for me to visit.
